STEERING

Potential Consequences:

Car drifts to left in any lane while driving on highway. You have to hold the wheel firmer to the right to keep it straight at highway speeds than on local roads. Was not like this new, but with 35K miles something is wrong. Alignment done by two different Honda Dealers who had different print outs from a Hunter Alignment Machine. Second dealer’s helped some but you get a arm workout driving this car and unsafe for my wife to drive.

I started my car this morning and I got a message saying Supplemental Passenger Error contact the dealer. Also, this car once a week will brake like if another car is in front of me on a busy highway I travel going home from work. This will cause someone to have a heartache especially when there is a big rig coming at speed behind you. Please look into these problems!

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

On 01-31-2023 at 5pm my Accord (2019, 27k miles) experienced a limp mode condition on the Highway forcing me to pull over onto the shoulder and restart the car. I was traveling for 4+ hours in rain / misting rain on the way to North Carolina for a business trip. I went to pass a slow moving vehicle, and the car’s check engine light began to flash 2 seconds after I hit the accelerator. The car’s check engine light began to flash and the car would not exceed 40mph, indicating it had entered a limp mode condition. This forced me to pull over onto the shoulder. After a restart, the car performed as normal with no CEL. I took the car to Advance Auto parts to see if the ECU captured any codes - 3 “pending” codes were stored - P0300 random misfire, P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire, P0304 Cylinder 4 misfire. I took the car to Shockley Honda in Frederick MD on 02/06/2023 and the pending codes had cleared / a diagnosis of possible traction control engagement was given - I am 100% certain this was the check engine light / limp mode, and that this is an incorrect diagnosis. Honda has a TSB for this exact issue: https://www.driveaccord.net/attachments/a21-052-pdf.531063/ Additionally I have dash camera footage to collaborate my account of events, including the event occurring; pulling over on the side of the road; and the trip to advance auto, where you can hear me reading the codes Car entering limp mode on highway: https://youtu.be/1E9RKIH-MnM Drive to advance auto: https://youtu.be/esqrADVXfsA Reading codes: https://youtu.be/5fN10jBiChw Multiple other owners have experienced similar issues in similar weather conditions in their 2.0T Accords https://www.driveaccord.net/threads/check-engine-light-cel-in-the-rain-went-into-limp-mode.502130/page-11 This incident lead to unsafe vehicle operation through a loss of power scenario in adverse weather. Honda customer service and the dealer have so far failed to address the issue in the TSB per my insistence.

Additional Notes:

Potential Consequences:

Is Honda ever going to correct their air conditioning issues? This is the second vehicle from Honda that I’ve purchased brand new that has a/c issues in under a year. The first time, I just stuck it out and sweated to death in my car until my lease ended, now I can’t do that for the safety of my children while living in the Deep South. It’s incredibly dangerous for drivers to sit in a hot car- even if the windows are down.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Potential Consequences:

I have had several times where the "BRAKE" alert comes on the dash and the car brakes and will not excel. Note.. this happens when there is absolutely NOTHING in front of me. This is apparently a common issue as I am seeing that many people have reported this. I have reached out to my dealer with this however, because it does it when it wants to and not all the time, they have not been able to see it happen or know why.

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Automatic Emergency Braking function was inadvertently activated; however, there were no other vehicles around. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not yet taken to an independent mechanic or local dealer for diagnosis or repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.
