Safety Issue:
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Accord Sedan, Accord Hybrid, and 2019-2020 Insight vehicles. A software error may cause intermittent or continuous disruptions in communication between the Body Control Module (BCM) and other components. This may result in malfunctions of various systems such as the windshield wipers and defroster, rearview camera, exterior lights, audible warning of a stopped vehicle, and power window operation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems" and number 111, "Rear Visibility" as well as FMVSS numbers 104, 108, 114, 118, and 305.

WHEN DRIVING MORE THAN 25 MILES IN A DAY MY STEERING WHEEL WILL STIFFEN UP AND THEN IT WILL RELEASE WITH A JERKING LIKE MOTION ( ALMOST SIMILAR TO A RACK AND PINION ISSUE IN AN OLDER VEHICLE). IT PROGRESSES THROUGHOUT THE DRIVE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTINUE THE TRIP. HONDA HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS AND SAID IT'S THE WAY THE SUSPENSION IS SET UP, HOWEVER IT SHOULDN'T BE STIFFENING UP AND JERKING AS IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN. HONDA IS CURRENTLY IN POSSESSION OF THE ACCORD TRYING TO DETERMINE IF THERE'S ANYTHING THEY CAN DO. THEY'VE HAD THE CAR FOR 17 DAYS AS OF THIS POSTING. THE ACCORD'S GAS PEDAL FAILED TO RESPOND FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 6 SECONDS, THEN SUDDENLY LURCHED FORWARD. THIS ALSO COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

TWO SEPARATE ISSUES: 1) WITH ONLY 2,400 MILES ON THE ACCORD, ON OCTOBER 7, 2018 IT SUDDENLY LOST POWER 2 OR 3 TIMES OVER A 60-MILE STRETCH OF THE BUSY 405 FREEWAY, EACH TIME SLOWING FROM 65 MPH TO APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH OR LESS DESPITE MAINTAINING EVEN PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR. THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. NO CRUISE CONTROL WAS USED AT ANY TIME.
