ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER (HONDANATION KNOXVILLE), AND BASED ON MY OWN EXPERIENCE, THE 2017 HONDA ACCORDS HAVE A KNOWN "ACCELERATION LAG" PROBLEM. OFTEN WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STATIONARY POSITION, OR EVEN A SLOW-TURN OR MERGE POSITION, THERE CAN BE A 1 TO 3 SECOND DELAY BETWEEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AND ACTUALLY GETTING THE CAR TO MOVE. THIS CAN PRESENT A HIGHLY SERIOUS SITUATION. IN EFFECT, THE CAR CAN STALL FOR A 1 TO 3 SECOND PERIOD WHILE ONCOMING TRAFFIC CLOSES IN ON YOU. WHILE DRIVING MY NEW CAR ON A PUBLIC ROAD DURING A RIGHT TURN INTO ANOTHER PUBLIC ROAD, MY POWER STEERING FAILED ALMOST CAUSING A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. THE DEALERSHIP LATER INFORMED ME THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO RODENT DAMAGE TO MY POWER STEERING HARNESS.

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT A GAS PUMP. AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK. I STARTED THE ENGINE, LEAVING IT IN PARK. I STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO CHECK MY GAS CAP AND THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING BACKWARDS QUITE FAST. I RAN IT DOWN, OPENED THE DOOR, BUT BEFORE I COULD BREAK IT THE DOOR WAS SERIOUSLY BENT. I BELIEVE THE ONLY EXPLANATION IS A FAULT IN THE TRANSMISSION WHERE THE GEAR SLIPPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE.
