Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
As we were leaving Cortez, CO. on a two lane highway we were passing a couple of cars with plenty of room to get back into to the driving lane when we lost ALL power from the engine. The cars we had just passed had to slam on their brakes as we were trying to keep from a head on collision. But with no power and the Denali in neutral we couldn’t change anything. We coasted to a County Road approach and it DIED in the middle of it. NO POWER. We had to call a tow truck who took it back into Cortez to Webb Chevrolet. The engine had seized. God was watching over us that day. We have since found out that there has been MANY seized engines with the 2022, 6.2 liter engines. In many new pickups and few of the suburbans. In fact, the Webb Chevrolet people said they have had one that they replaced the seized engine with a new 6.2 liter engine and in 500 miles that NEW ENGINE ALSO SEIZED! This is a MAJOR SAFTEY ISSUE!! THIS ENGINE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE IT RUINS LIVES OF THE FAMILIES WHO ARE DRIVING THEM!!. We only had 42,000 miles on our 2022 Yukon Denali and Chevrolet couldn’t even rent a vehicle to get home and it would be a month to have to wait for a new one. We had to trade vehicles to get home. Point is, when the engine seizes while passing cars on a two lane, somebody is going to die. Families aren’t at fault when the company has been notified of their negligence to get a recall on this engine and fixed. We’ve had our Denali in for service several times for electrical issues. This should qualify as a Lemon Law. Instead, GMC tried to send a $5000.00 voucher to use when we buy a new vehicle. This family has bought GMC, CADILAC’S, CHEVY’S FOR OVER 50 years. We like our salesman and would continue this business, but not if you don’t make SAFETY FIRST!! RECALL THIS ENGINE NOW!!! Take care of YOUR customers and OUR friends! LOOK FOR YOURSELF THE AMOUNT OF SEIZED ENGINES IN THIS 6.2LITER ENGINE. Thank You, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA)

Defect Description:

Potential Consequences:
On [XXX], my wife was driving her 2022 Yukon XL in [XXX] , when she heard a loud pop and realized her sunroof had exploded and shattered. Thankfully, the sunshade was closed, which prevented shards of glass from entering the interior of the vehicle. She was driving alone, had not gone under an overpass, and there were no other vehicles in front of her. There was no indication that a foreign object struck the glass and the remaining glass is clearly protruding outwards. A quick search on this issue revealed that this is not an isolated incident and has been noted by consumer reports and a previous NHSTA investigation. On June 20th, 2024, I contacted GM customer service. I was told that there are no recalls, extended coverage, or safety bulletins on the sunroofs. The customer service agent stated she had never heard of the issue and recommended that I contact my closest dealership for repairs. Repairs are estimated to be around $750. I am urging the NHSTA to reopen an investigation on defective sunroof glass and GM to issue a recall before someone is injured or killed. Potential Consequences:
WE purchased this GMC Yukon brand-new in January 2022. Since July 2022 and at 5700 (five thousand) miles, I have been experiencing a repeated Check Engine Light problem. I have taken the vehicle to my local GMC dealer, who has involved GM Engineers, on seven [7] occasions to have the problem fixed, but they have not been able to resolve the issue. I am now concerned that this defect is built-in the vehicle itself.

The 2022 Yukons were sold without certain parking sensors installed, with the promise of a retrofit as soon as the sensors were available. I purchased this vehicle in May 2022, and am still waiting on a parking sensor retrofit. I have called GMC several times about this chip, and have been told they're still waiting, even though they continue to produce additional vehicles. I bought the vehicle with the expectation that the parking sensors would ultimately be repaired; how long will you allow GMC to delay these retrofits?

SEATS
Potential Consequences:
I purchased a 2022 Yukon XL and much to my surprise the third bench seats do not have carseat Latch/anchors. I am unable to get my third carseat in the third row due to this major oversight on GM's behalf. I called customer service at GM and wasn't able to get anywhere. Was told to file a request for a recall with NHTS, however they told me they cannot recall something that GM decided not to include with the build of this vehicle. I have owned other SUVs with third row anchors, no issue however this one for whatever reason does not include them. It only has the one on the back of the seat which does nothing for keeping the carseat base secure.
