Safety Issue:
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, 3500 HD, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles and 2014-2017 Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500, Trax, Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicle, GMC Sierra 1500, Buick Encore, and 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse, Chevrolet Spark EV and SS vehicles. In the affected vehicles, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

I have a 2017 Yukon XL with 80,000 miles on it. Last year I was driving on the highway with my kids when it began to lose power and failed to accelerate. The issue was in the engine and I had to replace the entire engine for $8000 because it was barely past the warranty. Now one year later the car began to jerk and not shift while on highway and it is the transmission that is going to be replaced for $6000. The 2017 Yukon XL is a lemon and very dangerous for drivers. I spent $45k and should not be replacing the engine and transmission withing 6 years of it's age. Reading online these are common issues putting lives at risk.

One rear brake light was intermittently malfunctioning even though the vehicle only has 80,000 miles and is a 2017 model. Upon researching online, I saw that 2015 and 2016 models were recalled for this. 2017 was given a limited term to have the vehicle fixed IF they were experiencing the issue. I was not experiencing the issue at the time, so I was responsible for a large chunk of the cost of repairing the light through the dealer at GMC. GMC did inspect the vehicle. The company was made aware of the problem. The dealer discussed it with them and they agreed to pay half as a "favor" basically to have the rear light replaced.

Potential Consequences:
When backing down a boat ramp for a day on the lake I experienced extremely high rake pedel effort and abs engaging with no wheel slip for skid. In order to keep the vehicle from going into the lake I had to apply the parking brake. No warning lamps illuminated. The dealer states it is a faulty vacuum pump.

Potential Consequences:
The paint on the hood is peeling/flaking and is degraded. Right air shock is leaking causing the vehicle to continually pump up. I have the tow package, and with the air shock leaking, it does me no good. My air conditioner has not been cooling for a while. I started noticing it when it was hot in December, 2022. Would have thought it was a simple leak. The port valves have been changed. Air is still not blowing cold. My vehicle uses the R1234YF which is very expensive per can. After spending $72,000 on a vehicle, you would think that it would not be failing so soon. I understand 1) there is a class action lawsuit regarding the peeling/flaking of the paint; 2) that the ac condenser has a recall and also, the "leaky" air shock; however, my VIN is not included in any of these recalls. Upon the pleading and begging for recall information on brake lights and the brake system, those after sometime, were actually fixed by the dealer. I feel like I purchased a lemon. This was supposed to be my forever vehicle. To make matters worse, my vehicle display freezes when you are driving down the road, which includes while you have navigation on, I guess I will just get lost. I have had warnings about parking/collision alert just not working and will not let you push the button to turn it back on. I am not understanding why all of what is happening. I work everyday and have to take off work to take it to the dealership. I have never been so disappointed in a GM product, my vehicle is a piece of crap. I have an appointment at the dealership on April 19, 2023, we will see where this will take me.

Rear brake light has stopped working. GMC dealer quotes $990 to replace one tail light assembly. It appears to be a common problem caused by a weak conductor that breaks inside the assembly. Because of the high price quoted by dealerships, people are resorting to fixing it themselves, like in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxluJqB0gWU This is dangerous. This part should not be breaking so quickly. It should not be allowed that fixing brake light be so expensive by the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam shaft, manifold, and lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 104,000.

Potential Consequences:
The transmission begin to cause the vehicle to shudder and shake. This caused shifting problems that cause the vehicle to be unable to safely drive down the road. We have confirmed with a mechanic that has seen and fixed this same issue multiple times. Causing the transmission to need to be replaced. This is due to the issues that many vehicles like this one that continues to be a problem. This issues has caused my vehicle to be unable to accelerate and has caused it to stop in the road. This is very unsafe and needs to be fixed for all those with this similar vehicle so no one is severely injured.

The contact stated that the vehicle was jerking while driving forward at a slow speed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer where the vehicle remained. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

Not sure if this is the correct raea to notify regarding this incident. I had windshield replaced by Safelite Auto Glass in Cadillc Mi.After the service the technician said he calibrated everything and all is fine. Upon my initial driving after the windshield service the vehicle engine light was flashing and the display was telling me the advanced collision and lane departure warning systems were inoperable. Additionally the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle could not be driven safely. I contacted Safelite in Cadillac Michigan the next morning and was initially told the warnings have nothing to do with the service they performed and they do not have to do anything to help me. The manager advised that they ran 3 scans with their equipment and all scans came out good. The manager is saying that confirms everything was OK. I see that as an admission of something being wrong since the technician ran 3 scans. Why run additional scans if all is good. What he was seeing is that the vehicle was displaying warning lights and was not running properly. That is why he kept running scans over and over. Even after 7 scans now they are still saying it's not their problem. Obviously their equipment is incapable of calibrating the new windshield to the vehicle. Additionally they have caused a problem within the engine control module by hooking up faulty electronic device. The vehicle is inoperable. Additionally Safelite knows that they are incapable of performing windshield replacement on this vehicle. The technician no more than left my driveway and I received a text from Safelite saying: "Modifications to your vehicle may cause your advanced safety systems to not function a intended" That is admission thjat Safelite knows they are incompetent in this matter. The windshield is in of the most important safety feature in a vehicle. It is unacceptable the an industry leading automotive aftermarket company is continuing to operate this way. Please look into this.

Not sure if this is the correct raea to notify regarding this incident. I had windshield replaced by Safelite Auto Glass in Cadillc Mi.After the service the technician said he calibrated everything and all is fine. Upon my initial driving after the windshield service the vehicle engine light was flashing and the display was telling me the advanced collision and lane departure warning systems were inoperable. Additionally the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle could not be driven safely. I contacted Safelite in Cadillac Michigan the next morning and was initially told the warnings have nothing to do with the service they performed and they do not have to do anything to help me. The manager advised that they ran 3 scans with their equipment and all scans came out good. The manager is saying that confirms everything was OK. I see that as an admission of something being wrong since the technician ran 3 scans. Why run additional scans if all is good. What he was seeing is that the vehicle was displaying warning lights and was not running properly. That is why he kept running scans over and over. The drivers seat broke and front airbags did not deploy. The seat broke during rear end collision which pushed the seat back so I was no longer able to reach steering wheel or brakes to stop. Went thru on coming traffic to end up on wrong side of road in ditch. Police inspection, insurance inspections, auto repair inspection No warnings.
