ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Below 10,000 miles my truck had the master brake cylinder to put which they repaired under warranty. At about 89,000 miles the engine went out stating a misfire on cylinder 2. After talking with GM the vehicle needed all the rods and cam shaft replaced which was almost an $11k repair of which I had to pay almost $5k. The truck still has sporadic shakes while at idle. Many other owners have complained of the same issues. It’s hard to understand that a new truck would have so many issues. The truck was also sold without the chip to heat the seats or the heated steering wheel. These were down afterwards one of them about a year after purchase. We feel GMC should have paid for this repair given all their engine issues. They changed the warranty from 100k miles to 60k miles because they knew these engines have major issues.

Potential Consequences:

Hello, I wish to report this injury / incident with the failure of the power running boards on my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Limited. There are no warning Lamps on the vehicle. The truck is regularly serviced and inspected. The truck recently had a multi-point inspection at the dealer. The power running boards started to come out after I opened my door, as I stepped down, the steps retracted and went back in causing me to fall hard on the ground and smash my knees. Driver and passenger sides are now acting up, even with the truck parked and locked, passenger side wants to go in and out on its own and sometimes extends to the tire. As I researched this problem, I found out that others have had similar issues with the same vehicles that have these power running boards. I removed the fuse now to prevent further injuries.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

The engine on my 22 Sierra began knocking at 23,000 miles . The engine i have is a 6.2. It was already scheduled for a front grill recall at the dealer and I had concerns for the knocking issues. I had no lights on the dash or a performance issue at the time. The dealer said they heard the knocking and wanted to take the oil filter off to confirm engine failure. The found metal shavings in the filter and it needed a new engine. They said if I kept driving it the engine would have locked up . Luckily I cought it in time and avoided an accident on the highway. This is a huge safety issue.

Defect Description:

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. While utilizing Super Cruise on the interstate in stop and go traffic conditions, the vehicle will come to a complete halt and jerk (as though you I slammed on the breaks). This has happened approximately 4 times and each time, driving conditions were good and during hours of daylight. The halt is very violent and causes the vehicle behind me to slam on their breaks. The latest instance occurred on Tuesday May 29, 2025 and forced the vehicle behind me to swerve off of the road. The emergency breaking warning does not sound nor is there a reason for it to do so as it has happened when the vehicle in front of me is moving with traffic and has not slowed down or applied breaks. The super cruise system also does not disengage or say that the road information is unavailable. The vehicle simply comes to an abrupt halt, to the point where if things are in the seats they will fly forward and then the system behaves as though nothing has happened. Traveling speeds vary between 10-20 mph when it malfunctions. The problem has not been reproduced and it shouldn't because it is a serious safety hazard for the driver and other commuters on the road. I was told a module software update would fix the issue however that did not. There were no warning lights that occurred prior to any of the instances.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

I had taken my vehicle to the dealership for a front grill assembly recall by the end of the day they called me and said I needed to leave my truck at the dealership because of a coolant control valve and they don't recommend me driving it. They told me they would get me a rental car but we're not able to get me one until 11 days after my vehicle was in the shop. I told them I needed a truck for work but was told they could only offer up to 44 dollars a day and I'd have to take a vehicle that was given to me or pay out of my own pocket to rent my own. I had the case escalated but have yet to hear anything back from GMC if they have even recieved the part or what is going on with this backorder part! From what I've been seeing and reading this is obviously an ongoing thing with GMC they have known about this coolant control valve for years now but instead of producing them so they are no longer on backorder they continue to produce plenty of new vehicles to throw on the sales lot. I am out of thousands of dollars because I don't have a truck and only 2 weeks into this mess with GMC. The vehicle is paid off and I continue to wander when a part or gmc will give me a better option. So I can continue with my business.
