While driving on the interstate at 75 mph, the top trim from my grill flew off unprovoked hitting my windshield and roof of the truck. Luckily there wasn't anyone behind us but the noise definitely spooked myself and the passenger not knowing what just hit the windshield. I took it into the dealer from who I purchased the truck and told the entire grill must be replaced for a whopping $1571.26 not covered under warranty. The truck only has 24000 miles on it and cost near $80K. Thanks GMC!! Scorned customer.

Potential Consequences:

Entering a freeway and getting up to speed, the moulding between my grille and hood flew off. I was not able to recover it, therefore it has not been inspected by anyone. Luckily, this happened at night when there were very few drivers on the road, but had it happened during a busy time, it is likely that piece would have hit another vehicle(s). It has been reported as a problem on many forums. This happened without warning and there were no warnings after it occurred.

Potential Consequences:

My 2022 Sierra Denali shows message "Shift To Park" when turning off, even though it has been shifted to park, the dashboard stays lit as well as the radio on. Horn even goes off alerting as if the engine is on and me walking away with the key in my pocket even though engine is off. Have to play with shifter to get it to stop, sometimes turning it back on and off will do trick. Locking it with remote works most of the time but when this happens, I can't use remoteless key access, door just won't lock.

The truck must be stopped and turned off, sometimes it will need to be restarted 2x before it's able to shift into first gear. The outdoors temperature was approximately 24F, transmission temp was 178F. The truck locked into 7th gear 6x in a row while the transmission was set to normal driving mode. There were no signs of transmission failure until the vehicle reached approximately 50mph, afterwards the check engine light illuminated, a warning stating "reduced acceleration drive with care" and "service transmission now unable to shift soon". The trucks RPMs were approximately 2500rpm while driving 45mph and would not go down because the transmission would not shift up or down.

Corrective Action:

When the truck reaches approximately 50mph it is unable to shift into the next gears and then it's unable to downshift. The transmission will not go into neutral. Trim piece of chromed plastic on the front of the hood broke off and flew over the truck while traveling at 65mph. Fortunately no vehicles were close behind, but it could have damaged a following vehicle and/or caused them to swerve to avoid. This part is obviously a defective assembly. Photo available

As I was traveling down the interstate at about 70 mph the front upper grille moulding flew off and almost hit the vehicle behind me. The clips that held this on the vehicle are very weak and this is happening to many of the same vehicles. Had I hit a car behind me there could have been significant damage, and luckily there was not a motorcyclist behind me. I did not hear any rattling or have any damage to the vehicle, this is simply a manufacturer's issue.

Potential Consequences:

While driving approximately 70mph down the freeway the upper grille assembly snapped off and went airborne, it struck the passenger side of my windshield putting 2 large scratches on my windshield. It then hit the roof of the vehicle and continued over my vehicle. Upon inspection the guard is held on by extremely thin clips and all clips sheared in almost identical spots. This creates a huge safety hazard for motorists behind the Vehicle that could be struck by the flying piece.

While driving down the highway, then without any warning the front upper lip of truck grille flew off randomly. The broken piece shattered windshield and caused damage to body of vehicle. Reported to dealer, but they said I must have hit something to cause the damage. I did not hit anything. I was simply driving down the highway. This was a failure of the truck.
