Recall Date: Jun 13, 2025
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Mustang Mach E vehicles. FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module C (SOBDMC) software, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed to 2021-2024 Mustang Mach-E owners July 9, 2025. Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Bronco, F-150, 2021-2024 Edge, 2023-2024 Escape, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600, 2022-2024 Expedition, 2022-2025 Transit, 2021-2023 Mach-E, 2024 Ranger, Mustang, 2021-2023 Lincoln Nautilus, 2022-2024 Navigator, and 2023-2024 Corsair vehicles. Potential Risk:
A frozen or missing rearview camera image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Defect Description:

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

While driving the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the middle of traffic. The vehicle had to be changed to a tow mode as it was stuck in park. The vehicle had not been driven more than 3days at this point. The vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer who found no issue and gave the vehicle back with errors still in the dash. The vehicle was then brought to a second dealer who found no issues after 5days of inspection. They advised all codes see cleared by the previous dealer. Vehicle then stopped again in the middle of traffic with no warning and was towed again. This was he 3rd attempt at accessing the issue on a 2week old purchase of which I had driven at most 1week. The vehicle abruptly stops while driving, displays a battery icon, a car icon with and exclamation, and a turtle icon. To which it has each time this has happened and the dealer seems to find no issue with this and sends me out to drive in safely again.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

This vehicle has a one-pedal drive mode that uses regenerative braking to slow / stop the vehicle when you remove your foot from the accelerator pedal. On several occasions, this system has suddenly turned off with an error message displayed on the screen. This means that the braking that I was experiencing at the moment suddenly ceased. This is a dangerous situation that could result in an accident. Ford indicates it is a known issue, but currently does not have a fix for it.

STRUCTURE:BODY

Potential Consequences:

While driving on the highway at speed, the front undercarriage cover of the Ford Mach-E came loose, started vibrating violently, then started dragging on the highway. Thankfully the driver was able to pull over safely. The incident could have caused life-threatening injury to the driver and other vehicles has the part come totally lose, come under a tire, or started hitting the battery system that sits just behind the car. This could have caused the driver to loose control, the part to hit another vehicle, or a fire in the case of the battery system and the violent impact and friction as a result of the vibrating loose part. We took the vehicle to the dealer and they confirmed that there was damage to the undercarriage cover, and also "impact" damage to what is under the undercarriage cover (albeit they assumed the impact damage to be due to user/environment, as you'll see from the pictures, it was likely due to the vibrating loose part itself.) No warnings or indicators came on before the problem. The vehicle is only 3 months old and used exclusively for city driving/commuting. The car has not been any vehicular accidents or even minor collisions.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Brakes: The brakes grab hard when coming to a stop and cause a slight jerk. I have reported this issue to the original dealership of purchase; Angela Krause Ford in Alpharetta, GA. It’s been two weeks since I purchased this vehicle brand new and I still have not been able to get it in for repair. Charge Port Door: The charge port door cover came off while I was trying to close it and the clip part that connects the door to the car and locks came off (very cheaply made and other Mach E owners have suffered this same thing shortly after purchase). I can’t drive the vehicle because of the brakes issue and also because with the slightest wing going down the highway the charge port door pops open. I have it secured with a piece of tape currently but that’s still not safe or secure and the door could still fly open.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The charging system would not work after purchase. Without careful planning I could have been stuck hours from home, stranded. I tried about 8 different chargers and called support with no luck. We ended up having to tow it to the dealership. We've now waited 3 weeks to be told 2 electrical wiring harnesses are corroded ( brand new car ) and they are not able to order the parts they need.

Defect Description:

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

All I was doing was charging the battery of the car at my house on a level two charger that was provided by Ford. I got a message on my Ford pass saying High voltage Battery warning. The car stopped charging at 59 percent of the battery capacity. The vehicle has only 2800 miles on it. Also got a power train malfunction/ reduced power warning as well and a service wrench when you turn on the car. This high voltage battery warning is a known issue on 2022 as I had it happen to me while driving it in a turn as I own one of those as well. But this is the 2023 that is not recalled. I have parked it outside of my garage as if the battery is getting hot enough to where it will stop charging this puts these vehicles all at the risk of something called thermal runaway. I do now know why this is not mentioned or even talked about with these types of batteries but basically, this happens when one cell goes into thermal runaway from being too hot and can melt the car. This is a huge safety concern. I have complained about it multiple times but have been ignored. I have parked my vehicle outside of my garage as I fear it may go into thermal away. I will take it to the dealer tomorrow. Please fix this NHSTA it's still not fixed. Happened to my 2022 Mustang Mach E with an extended-range battery now it's happening to my 2023 Mustang Mach e with an extended battery neither of which is part of the recall. If this is a known issue you must investigate it NHSTA and make Ford fix the issue not just wait until someone ends up dead this will not be acceptable and every time I have an issue like this and anyone who also has one should complain. Thermal runaway of a battery is a serious issue that can happen to this battery on the car. It is a real concern I have seen a battery much smaller on a helicopter go into thermal runaway it was not very pretty. Please Ford Fix this issue the high-voltage battery issue is already known.

The vehicle sends an alert “STOP SAFELY NOW” and starts jerking and shutting down. I have reported to Ford and me local dealership. No one seems to have an explanation as to why this is happening. It doesn’t register in the vehicle logs as an alert. I’m afraid one day I won’t have the ability to pull over. Mt vehicle is a 2023 AWD SELECT MACH E.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

On [XXX], I acquired the vehicle with an initial estimate of 6 miles on it. However, within just 1.5 days of ownership, I encountered a significant issue that has left my family and me in a state of distress. On [XXX], while heading into DC for a holiday event at Nationals Stadium with my husband and three small children, the car suddenly displayed a warning message urging me to "Stop Safely Now” with a turtle on it. Subsequently, the vehicle became unresponsive, leaving us stranded on a bridge with no shoulder. With limited knowledge of the car's functions, we attempted to troubleshoot, but to no avail. This is our first time ever going into DC. Given the urgency of the situation and the safety of my family, we called for a tow truck, which took an extended 1.5-2 hours to locate us due to the challenging location on the bridge. We even sought assistance from the local police to ensure our safety while waiting for the tow truck. Once at the charging station, our efforts to resolve the issue were in vain. Adding to our predicament, we found ourselves unable to access the vehicle, leaving us exposed to the elements on a [XXX]. With no other viable options, we had to call for a second tow truck, resulting in additional expenses. As of January 17, the car has been at the dealership since December 24, and we have yet to receive any updates on the resolution or an estimated time of completion. This situation had disrupted our holiday plans, causing distress to my family, especially the children, who were looking forward to Christmas traditions and festivities. POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

After a few days in garage attempted to drive out where first upon engaging drive selection, releasing brake pedal, and slight throttle, a clunk and jerk launch occurred. With each subsequent wheel rotation there was a scraping sound synchronized with a torque dip in the propulsion. drove 1-2 blocks up street up to ~5 MPH and this symptom followed exact with speed. Stopped car, tried reverse a block, same thing, surging like propulsion with apparent torque dips in sync with speed. Repeated in drive, then reverse a few times, then parked back in garage to be towed into dealer. I put masking tape on steering wheel AND on Windshield saying not to drive over 2MPH to witness the symptoms. Upon receipt at dealer, was told symptom was then repeated, therefore car would be held for a while as it would need to be torn down and analyzed to find the cause. After 3 weeks, told not yet finding the cause, we discussed possibility of brakes where they agreed and was to pull them apart to inspect. Never did. Now 4 weeks later, still at dealer, telling me they cannot repeat the effect but that drove it around. I told speed may have wiped it away, this 2nd time it was towed in for this. I consider this a safety / drivability issue and want it noted, (And fixed of course).

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

When driving, sometimes a “Drive Mode Unavailable” message comes up on the infotainment. Drive modes in the MachE contribute to deceleration, one pedal driving, and throttle mapping, and switching abruptly from one to another without input from the driver is a safety issue as it can instantaneously change the deceleration or acceleration rate of the vehicle. This is a known bug that’s been around for years and still no fix for it.
