VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Potential Consequences:
Loss power, gear selector "D" flashing. Dashboard has check engine light on, displays "service AdvanceTrac and Hill start assist not available. Could have got into an accident if not for fact I was just leaving a light, going maybe 35 MPH. After stopping, I let my foot of the break and it was accelerating on it's own. I pulled over again and now it's just a check engine light. I've had this vehicle in 5 times for recalls, waiting on the sixth one. Ford actually told me it was a lemon but I've kept it as a new car to replace it was too expensive. This one is almost paid off.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
The Dealer did not reveal the unresolved recall on this used vehicle during sales lot inspection. After I pointed out the recall listed on the CarFax report, the dealer did not address the concern nor mention if the recall had been resolved in order to make the used truck ready for resale. The Dealer did not explain how the recall may apply to this specific truck. This vehicle still has this recall active and unresolved at the Fritts Ford Dealership in Riverside, CA Auto Mall. Instead, pushed the Ford PremiumCare Extended Warranty which in the fine print does not include the engine, the battery, or recalls on any components. I have not purchased this vehicle and unlikely to do so at this time due to this serious and dangerous known risk to operating this 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid Truck.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
While driving 70mph, Maverick truck lost power and was forced to pull onto shoulder. Restarted car after several systems were flashing as disabled. I was only able to drive 34mph top speed. After stopping for gas and shutting vehicle off for 30 minutes, car restarted without warnings (only check engine light on) and were able to drive 70mph again. I'm assuming this is the 24S24 recall. My dealership read the codes but were not aware of the recall or its remedy so I'm still waiting for recalibtation.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
On 4/27/24 Vehicle went into limp mode after driving for less than 90 seconds. Multiple various errors messages (powertrain, hill assist, collision, check engine) lit up, vehicle was accelerating on its own when in drive. No error messages prior to this incident. Similar incident happened around 3/10/23 while at Ford service for recall software updates but issue was not confirmed at that time. Vehicle is at Ford service now for second incident. Ford service states when the vehicle got a recall completed for the SOBDCM update, it triggered the vehicle to not update fully and causes the warning messages and can force the vehicle to go into limp mode and lose power.

Defect Description:
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Potential Consequences:
The component in question is the powertrain control module for my Maverick. After having the relevant powertrain recall reprogramming done (23E09), I was driving down the highway when I received a rapid series of warnings from my car including "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available", "Service Engine Soon", and "Service AdvanceTrac" [sic]. I lost all engine power at that point, and was steadily decelerating with no response from the accelerator. There was no advance warning or messages. There was an imminent threat to my safety at that time. The loss of all power rendered the car unsafe to continue driving on the highway, and prevented me from leaving the highway in a safe manner. I was able to pull off the highway at a fortunately nearby exit ramp, however, I was unable to accelerate and was only able to coast to the nearest safe parking space. I subsequently turned my car off and on again, I found that when in drive the car would accelerate by itself to no more than 35 miles per hour, and was unresponsive to the accelerator pedal-it would only slow down if the brake was applied. Upon arriving at my original departure point, I then turned my car off and attempted a BMS reset unsuccessfully. The next day (<12 Hours since the initial failure), my car was functioning properly again but was soon seen by a dealership for service. I was informed by the service representative that this is a repeated issue brought to their attention for this make & model, with a consistent trend of these issues occurring after the powertrain control module was reprogrammed as part of an update. The powertrain module was again reprogrammed/flashed, and the issue has not repeated since the initial failure, though it is available for inspection.

Defect Description:
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Potential Consequences:

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
3/28/24 My 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid’s engine shut down and lost acceleration driving 70-80 miles an hour on a highway going through hills after 100 miles. Vehicle displayed a bunch of dashboard alerts as it soon lost all acceleration and would only drive slowly in Electric mode. I pulled over and tried again, but it was stuck in electric mode with barely any acceleration and displayed Check engine, service vehicle, bring to the dealer, etc., and a few other alerts. I shut off the engine and tried it again 5 min later, and it was still in electric mode. I shut it off again and waited around 15 minutes while trying to get roadside service using my Ford App, which showed local dealers but I could not find any towing service. Then, after the truck cooled down, ~15 minutes, it started up fine, and I could drive it. The engine shut down again after about another hour, displaying the same dashboard alerts as seen earlier. I pulled way over, shut everything down, and waited 10-15 min or so , and it started and ran fine to get me home in 30 min or so. I brought it to the Ford dealer the next day, 3/29/24, it took them 8 business days, and they said it was fixed on 4/9/24; they replaced the Battery/ Smart junction box.

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
I had just filled up my truck with gas and started driving to work today and the truck went into limp mode. It flashed a low gear warning, then started to slowly stop, all of the system alarms went off, including the check engine light. There were so many pop-up's I can't recall them all. I was able to pull over and start slowing down before it engaged the emergency brake and I experienced a hard stop. I turned the truck off and back on with no help. I turned the truck off again and opened the door, then shut the door and turned the truck back on and the brake was then turned off but check engine light still on. When I put the truck in drive it would start to accelerate without me pressing the gas. I pulled over again and turned the truck off again and back on. This time the truck behaved more normally but the check engine light is still on. Not sure if this is related to last recall service I recieved.
