MY 2020 FORD ECOSPORT shows the engine symbol and the maintenance symbol and every so often my car wouldnt have power or it would just shut off while im in park while inside the vehicle. at first i thought it was a battery issue so i fully recharged my battery and than less than a month later im experiencing the same issue. i looked online and there is countless claims all stating similar issues like mine. my car has around 35k miles on it. i would greatly appreciated some more knowledge on the situation

Potential Consequences:
Our company has purchased 8- 2018-2022 Ford EcoSports similar to the VIN on this complaint. 5 of the 8 purchased have required engine replacement due to oil pressure related issues. One had just 20k miles, one had mid 40K miles, one had 52K miles and another 68k miles. And we had another today with just 58K miles. This seems to be a chronic issue with these engines.

Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
I was driving on Interstate 10 between Casa Grande and Tucson at around 81 mph, and pushed on the accelerator a bit more to get in front of a car when the warning indicator turned on. It said "Low Engine Oil Pressure". Immediately the car lost all acceleration while I was in the left lane. I had to immediately turn on my hazard lights and get to the right lane, while slowly losing speed. I did not feel safe pulling onto the shoulder and there was an exit about a mile away from where it all started so we essentially were cruising, losing speed, to the exit. We pulled into a gas station parking lot while we figured what was going on. This happened while I was driving in the left lane of a 3 lane interstate with a speed limit of 75mph. I believe that our safety was put into risk because of the nature of the location where it happened and how everyone else was going over 75mph while we were trying to get off the freeway safely. After many tows and having to go back to phoenix, we took it to Chapman Ford in Scottsdale. The oil pump belt snapped, causing the engine to run without oil, and damaging the engine to the point where the dealership says it needs to be replaced. The engine sounds different now and there is rattling present. The Service department quotes the replacement at over $7,000 and the car is just outside the powertrain warranty. No support from Ford Corporate as of now when this is being typed. We do not have the money to get the engine replaced at the moment without having to get a loan. There were no warning lights on prior to this happening, and the car has been maintained well. No symptoms either. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer due to the fact that they are recommending an engine replacement. The car is currently at the dealership in Scottsdale. **** Form is not letting me upload files, I am willing to upload some files to help yall with this****

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
My husband was driving when both the oil light and the engine light came on. He lost power. Thankfully he was on a road with no traffic. The oil pump is not working. The engine needs to be replaced only after 3 years. Took it to the dealership, they told him that the engine would need to be replaced. He was then told he could drive it back home, he was in a different county than what we live. We took it to a non dealership shop and they told us the same thing. Called Ford, they told me there was nothing that they could do. I have $12,549 left to pay so a trade in is out of the question. Please help

While on a 4 hour trip, after about two hours, the car suddenly started alerting "low engine oil pressure". I keep my car maintained, but thought perhaps there was a leak. I went got my oil changed, and still the alert was present. I reduced my speed to get to my closest relative. While getting off the interstate, the brakes malfunctioned. My car is a ford ecosport ecoboost. The ford dealership is saying the engine and the turbo have to be replaced. Once I researched online, I saw that I was not the only person this happened to. I could have died when those brakes malfunctioned. By the grace of God I made to my relative's and they towed my car from there.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Purchased the used car in June 2023 with 63k miles. Driving home to TX Nov 2023, low oil pressure outside Houston. Towed car to local Ford dealer. Was told the turbo failed damaging the engine. Bothe turbo & engine must be replaced est $6-7K to repair but over a month back order on engine. Had to rent a truck & tow my car back home to El Paso. Vehicle still not fixed due to cost and backlog on parts. After much research this is a known issue with Ford ecoboost models that they refuse to take responsibility for on the badly designed engine.
