Fisker Group Inc (Fisker) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Ocean vehicles. The transmission may not shift into the selected gear, allowing the vehicle to roll away while in Drive or Reverse.

Potential Risk:
A vehicle roll away increases the risk of a crash or injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Fisker released an over-the-air (OTA) software update on March 11, 2024, free of charge. Owners may contact Fisker customer service at 1-844-347-5371.

Fisker Group Inc (Fisker) is recalling all 2023-2024 Ocean vehicles. A communication failure with the cabin electric water pump can cause the high voltage battery management system (BMS) to enter limp mode, causing a loss of drive power.

Potential Risk:
A sudden loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:

Safety Issue:

Fisker Group Inc (Fisker) is recalling all 2023 Ocean vehicles. The instrument panel displays the incorrect font size of the Brake, Park, and Antilock Brake System (ABS) warning lights, and displays certain warning lights in amber instead of red. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems" and 101, "Controls and Displays." Additionally, multiple warning lights fail to illuminate during the ignition cycle bulb check, failing to comply with the requirements of FMVSS 138 and 208.

Potential Risk:
Warning lights that do not display correctly can fail to alert the driver to critical safety information, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received an unknown recall notification. The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was unsuccessful since the company had filed for bankruptcy protection and was no longer in business. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle shuddered violently and stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact merged to the left side of the road. A mobile mechanic diagnosed the vehicle at the residence. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with vehicle control unit (VCU) corruption, drive train corruption, and software corruption. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred after driving 200 ft. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that a field technician would be sent to perform the vehicle control unit (VCU), drive train, and software updates. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Fisker Ocean owners have a safety recall regarding sudden "acceleration" when the regen brake suddenly stop working that require a software update which they have consistently failed to install remotely. Today I drove 7 hours to have someone install it on-site and they said that "American lease" blocked their access to the FAST diagnostic tool which is blocking th from installing my recall. This is unacceptable. American lease is doing a bait and switch asking dealers to pay a $6k fee out of the blue to keep access to the tool and dealers are deciding not to pay which blocks our safety recall. I can't pay and have it installed.

Corrective Action:

Fisker Ocean owners have a safety recall regarding sudden "acceleration" when the regen brake suddenly stop working that require a software update which they have consistently failed to install remotely. Today I drove 7 hours to have someone install it on-site and they said that "American lease" blocked their access to the FAST diagnostic tool which is blocking th from installing my recall. This is unacceptable. American lease is doing a bait and switch asking dealers to pay a $6k fee out of the blue to keep access to the tool and dealers are deciding not to pay which blocks our safety recall. I can't pay and have it installed.

Subsequent to Fisker Group's bankruptcy filing, I received NHTSA Safety Recall Campaign TSB30032401, which required the cabin electric water pump (EWP_H) in my 2023 Fisker Ocean to be replaced. The two authorized Fisker repair facilities in my area were not being reimbursed by Fisker for the cost of performing the recall work. I thus paid $150.00 out of pocket to one of those facilities, Premium Autoworks in Riverside, California, to perform the repair, which was completed on Jan. 30, 2025. I am therefore requesting that Fisker reimburse me the full $150.00. I do not know who to contact to obtain reimbursement since Fisker is in bankruptcy. I respectively request that NHTSA assist me in obtaining reimbursement. Thank you.

Driver alert monitor stopped the car in the middle of the road because it said I was not paying attention. The biggest problem is the car no longer detects the key FOB inside the car. New battery and I can unlock the car from 100+ft away. But once in the car I'm forced to hold it to the NFC. One time I started the car, jumped out to grab something from inside the house, left my key there, then drove off. With no key in the car I was able to dive about 3 miles to the store. Somehow I was able to put it back into D and get home without it shutting down and asking to hold the FOB to the NFC again. The other safety related issue is the small driver screen will not dim. No matter where I have the brightness setting manually set or on auto the screen is always at 100% At night it is very bright and is not at all pleasant to drive with. I have started putting a piece of thin masking tape over it to dim at night. I can still see mostly see things that pop up.

The software on the vehicle appears to have been updated without my permission or knowledge. 1) Now my doors will no longer lock or unlock from the interior control panel ... which means that the vehicle cannot drive as I am unable to let people into the vehicle due to how the door/door handles function. The door handles used to protrude out of the door when the vehicle was unlocked. Since the interior control panel on the driver's door no longer functions and the doors automatically lock when driving, I am unable to unlock the doors to let people in while driving. 2) I am not longer able to roll down, or up, any windows from the driver's control panel. All windows are permanently closed and cannot be opened or closed from the driver's door control panel.
