EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Potential Consequences:

Left rear light side-marker assembly is not functional after 3 years in service and less than 29,000 miles. The side marker indicator inside the vehicle flashes rapidly (in quick succession) when the left blinker is applied. This indicated to me that a bulb was out. Initially, all lights were working when inspecting and inside flasher was quickly blinking. After checking multiple times, the left rear blinker finally stopped working altogether. This left rear indicator mark prevents others from knowing which direction I'm turning unless I stick my left arm out the window. The vehicle was taken in to dealership. Dealership said it needed the light assembly replaced at a cost of ~$867. We may have this done outside of an OEM dealership due to cost.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

When I put the car in PARK, turn the vehicle off, with my foot on the brake; the dashboard relentlessly signals to put the vehicle in Park. It will not stop this notice until I stop/start the car a few times or repeatedly press the gear shift lever. It happens intermittently, but at least 3-4 times a week. As a woman, the idea of going shopping and coming out to a dead car battery from this problem is always in the front in my mind and some stranger “helping” me, instead mugs me. I am terrified that it will cause an electrical fire under my carport and burn my house down with us inside. I haven’t had my Premiere long and absolutely love it and I have been a Chevy fan for years, but I have always felt Chevrolet took care of their customers. Is it going to take a terrible loss for these Traverse to be recalled?

GM said last accident there was no faulty airbags. They assure me my vin is not involved but due to the severity of the accident I believe otherwise

Potential Consequences:

My 2019 Chevrolet Traverse LT with ~28,600 miles on it within the past month has been providing me with a 'Shift to Park' error on the Driver Information Center (DIC) when I have already shifted it to Park and shut the car off (engine no longer running). I get a “shift to park” message after I have turned my car off even though it is in park. The warning does not shut off so I have to remain in my car and turn the car on/off and switch it into gear and out of gear in an attempt to get the warning to stop. At times, I have had to leave the parking spot and drive around more then park again to get the warning to stop. My car is three years old. This should NOT be happening on a three year old car. My car not recognizing what gear it’s in certainly isn’t safe.

Potential Consequences:

Intermittent "Action Required" alert on the display to "Shift to Park" after already shifting into park and turning off the car. Sometimes after jiggling the gearshift it will stop. Sometimes have to turn the car back on and shift into reverse and park again. Sometimes have to do this several times. Appears, after research online, this is a known issue under TSB 19-NA-206, September 2019. I have scheduled to take to the dealership for inspection. But it also sounds like the recommended repair is only a band-aid that will require a further repair.

Corrective Action:

Intermittent "Action Required" alert on the display to "Shift to Park" after already shifting into park and turning off the car. Sometimes after jiggling the gearshift it will stop. ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

On Thursday 9/9/21, I found my car's alarm going off while parked in a parking lot. I was able to silence the alarm and enter the vehicle and turn it on. As I was driving toward the exit of the parking lot the windshield wipers went on, on their own and I was unable to turn them off. Then I lost control of my steering, several warnings and alerts went off on the dashboard and the car powered off in the middle of the road without any warning. Shortly after was able to turn the car on again and reverse and get it into a spot in the parking lot where again I lost steering, several alerts came on the dashboard and the car powered down again. I had my two young children in the car and we could have been hit, if this occurred on a highway this could have been deadly! I was able to start the car again, drove it around the parking lot safely for a few minutes and then the incident occurred a third time in the exit lane of the parking lot. We called for a tow truck. The car would not turn on again for several hours. When it did turn on it was moved to a safe location where it powered off spontaneously a 4th time. When the car was picked up by the tow truck the following morning the car alarm was going off again and the doors were locking and unlocking spontaneously on their own. Onstar sent a diagnostic report indicating an issue with the Engine and Transmission System. The vehicle was towed to Millenium Chevrolet in Hempstead. They were not able to check the car until Monday 9/13/21. They replaced the battery, but were unable to identify the source of the problem. After the battery was replaced, we were alerted that the horn was not working and the doors were locking and unlocking spontaneously.
