Potential Consequences:

While driving my Alfa Romeo Giulia on [Insert Date], the vehicle's sunroof unexpectedly shattered without any prior warning or identifiable external impact, posing a sudden and severe safety risk. The shattering glass resulted in minor cuts and significant distress while I was operating the vehicle, thereby jeopardizing my safety as well as potentially that of other road users. Upon the occurrence of the incident, there were no prior symptoms, warning lamps, or messages indicating a potential problem with the sunroof. This issue had not been previously identified during routine maintenance checks, nor had there been any modifications or repairs done to the sunroof since the purchase of the vehicle. The vehicle has since been inspected by a service center where I initially received incorrect information about my warranty coverage, leading to further complications and delays in addressing the issue adequately. No third-party modifications have been made to the vehicle, and all services have been conducted according to manufacturer recommendations. This incident appears to be due to a failure or malfunction of the vehicle's sunroof system, which should be robust enough to withstand normal driving conditions without such occurrences. I am concerned that this could be indicative of a larger issue that may affect other vehicles of the same model.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

My wife was driving the alfa on a tree lined winding country road when the car died without warning. The road has no hard shoulder so it was shuck on the road. My wife had to get out of the car and wave at to warn other traffic that the car was stuck on the road just around the bend. this went on for about an hour until the tow truck arrived, she was very stressed out as there was some close calls with traffic braking at the last second. The cause of the problem was the fuel pump failing, code P008. I am trying to source a replacement pump and during my research discovered this failure is common with 2017 and 2018 Alfa Giulia models. I am quite upset that they have not made this a recall, because the risk of being in an accident due to a car suddenly losing power is quite possible.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

I was on the highway ramp picking up speed, and the car suddenly started to loose thottle. I pulled over to the side and the car went limp. The car shut off. I attempted to turn on the vehicle and it would not. The car was taken to an Alfa Romeo dealership and they confirmed that the fuel pump and fuel pump relay are both the cause for the vehicle not gaining any power and not remaining on. The car is still with the mechanics.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

I have a 2017 Alfa Romeo giulia TI on several occasions between the dates of September 2023 to current November 21st 2023 I have had a series of low pressure fuel codes pop up during numerous Diagnostics it was found to be my in tank fuel pump during further research it was found it was a TBS on it and feel it should be cool due to the fact that wild traveling in a high-speed Lane at 80 miles an hour the car shut down I had myself and my family in the vehicle on another occasion I had myself in the vehicle in the slow lane knowing that this may come up or feeling this may come up and it shut down doing 65 miles an hour at any point in time we have been rear-ended and killed. On several occasions it has shut down but luckily turning into a parking lot on secondary roads this unfortunately has caused so much stress for my wife that she will not get into the car my children won't drive in it and my daughter doesn't want to get in any car cuz she doesn't trust them this is very very unsettling even at the fact that I have to pay for it and the stress is caused my family it's crazy to think out of all the vehicles I've ever owned in my life BMWs Porsches Chevrolets and Dodges I've never had to worry about a fuel pump going in this fashion without any safety mechanism set up I really hope to receive a response soon as I am actively getting it fixed and feel I should not even have to be putting out any money for this let alone the amount of time it's going to take for my kids to be able to get back into the car Alfa Romeo you really let me down on this one and as I continue to read and investigate I see that there are many many instances and threads with the same situation please do the right thing I'll be in touch

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Was driving my 2017 Giulia on a busy interstate, and everything was perfectly fine until 3 error messages popped up: service engine, service electronic throttle control, start/stop unavailable. Then the engine cuts off and the car shifted into N gear. It was a very horrifying experience as the semi-truck behind me almost crashed into me since my car lost power. I tried to restart the car but with no success, the engine will sputter for 3-5 seconds and gave up. Plugged in the OBD scanner and received a "P008A low fuel pressure" reading (I had almost a full tank of gas). So it is a fuel pump related issue. Apperantly this is a very popular issue/defect, and Alfa Romeo is well aware of it as they even published a service bulletin for this specific error. Please see the attached PDF file for the service bulletin. Basically, the fuel pump module should be replaced. I am taking my car to an Alfa Romeo dealership for further investigation. I believed that Alfa Romeo should recall and inspect the conditions of the fuel pumps because it is very dangerous when your engine cut off while driving on a busy interstate. I also have another passenger with me while the incident happens and some other video and photo evidence. I can provide more evidence when my dealer finishes inspecting the car.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

On July 10 I was driving my car and then suddenly all the brakes came on. There were no objects in front of the car or behind the cars it was early morning at 7 o'clock on my way to the hospital for work. There was no warning that there was an object in front of me or anything. Two days later around the same time in the morning the car could start but the electronic brake system was ON. you can't turn them off. it gave a temporary message about electronic brake system issue. you can start the car and turn it off but the car won't move the even when you put the gear on as if all electronic brake system are engaged and can't turn them off by pushing the electronic parking knob off. after turning the car on and off multiple times, this electronic brakes must have been disengaged. Three days later the car was diagnosed with brake caliper failure in one tire which was repaired. I'm a physician and by no means a car technician but I think these are two completely unrelated issues. I feel that a bad brake caliper in one tire should not cause all four tires and all four brakes to stop the car suddenly on the road or prevent the car from moving when Idol or lock the electronic brake system. I communicated this clearly with Alfa Romeo main office as well as with my local dealership. This has been almost 2-3 weeks ago since ofI communicated with the Alfa Romeo people. I clearly told him that this is a big safety issue and we can't allow cars to stop by themselves in the middle of the road or come to a sudden brake in the middle of the road. This is extremely hazardous to the driver as well as to the people in that car or around the car. the technician thinks that the car is drivable and safe. Again I work on people not cars, but to me sudden irrational activation of the electronic braking system may not be dangerous when the car is idol but is extremely DANGEROUS while driving. Because i didn't hear any listening ears at the Alfa, I decided to contact you.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Hello, I was driving in the highway at highway speed and my engine shutdown with any sort of warning. I almost caused a huge accident. After I took it to the Alfa Romeo dealer, I had to replace the fuel pump according to the dealer, which is a common problem. I think Alfa Romeo should do a recall on the fuel pump. I also, scratched my car due to this incident avoiding a bigger accident. This car needs to be recalled for fuel pump repairs for all the car with the old bad fuel pump design. Thank you
