Safety Issue:
Volvo Car USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2021-2025 XC40, 2022 V90, 2022-2025 S90, V90CC, C40, XC60, 2023-2025 S60, V60, V60CC, XC90, and 2025 EC40 and EX40 vehicles. The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
Pressing P button does not engage the parking brake 100% of the time. Multiple times I have pressed the P button when concluding a drive and pulling into a spot with the normal friction brakes engaged, and nevertheless the car keeps rolling once the brake pedal is released, until the P button is pressed again in a much more deliberate fashion. This is a big safety issue. Pressing the P button with normal force should cause the parking brake to engage. At this point I now bypass the P button and switch the car off, which I know works 100% of the time to auto-engage the parking brake. Volvo needs to address the failure of the P button to perform its function.

We drove this vehicle to a family event in chicago. We pulled the vehicle out of the parking garage and pulled into a downtown street in front of a hotel to load the vehicle up. Once the family was loaded the vehicle up the car would not start it had 700 miles when it failed. we were stuck on a busy street trying to start the car. I called roadside assitance and someone came out with a jump pack, but the battery was not dead. I was in the pouring rain trying to figure out what was wrong. They did hook a computer up to find several faults in the computer. It did also indicate a left turn signal fault. also talking with roadside assistance the agent said that was the 2nd call he had with no start issue. finally it did start but the check engine light was on the whole trip home, had to cut our trip short and drove as far as we could in fear the car would not restart. It kept coming back with the left turn signal fault and did not shut off the car even pumping gas in fear of not restarting then all of a sudden with cruise control on the car just jerked itself amd almost pulled us off the freeway. now it has been at the dealer all week researching forums this seems to be a common issue

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Park fails to engage when pressing the P button adjacent to the shifter. It will, however, engage 100% of the time when applying additional pressure. The button doesn’t actually travel any further when applying the additional pressure, but park will engage. It’s even possible to push the button down fully, hold it for several seconds, and then apply additional pressure to cause it to engage. The tactile response of the button occurs too soon before activation.

Potential Consequences:
All of the electronics are malfunctioning, no navigation, possible airbag and seatbelt malfunction, warning lights on. I am concerned that all of the electronic safety systems are not working properly. Internal SOS button not working. Herb Chambers Volvo in Norwood, Ma. Service manager has confirmed that this is a problem with the 2024 XC90. The car is brand new and Herb Chambers Volvo does not have any available appointments for several weeks to address concerns. I also contacted Volvo USA and they were unable to assist. I have also requested that the area Volvo factory rep, Tom Laforte contact me and I have not heard back from him. In the meantime we are unable to drive our new Volvo due to these safety concerns.

Potential Consequences:
While parking my vehicle in the garage, I pressed the P (park) button on my center console and proceeded to exit my vehicle. As I was exiting, the car began to roll backwards. I was knocked to the ground by the open driver’s door, unable to reenter the vehicle. The vehicle began rolling causing me injury to my legs, elbow and feet because I was essentially trapped under the side of the vehicle as it was moving. The vehicle continued to roll. Hitting items on my garage, including my second vehicle parked in the driveway, before coming to a stop by hitting a neighboring chain link fence. The vehicle sustained damage to driver’s door, rear end, and front left panel. I’ve looked online and have seen several forums of similar issues with the Volvo P button not engaging, and vehicles rolling/lurching unexpectedly.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 1,000.
