Defect Description:

SUSPENSION

Potential Consequences:

On [XXX], while driving my 2023 Ram TRX, the driver’s side axle shaft failed catastrophically. Before the failure, I heard noise from the axle area, but no warning lights or indicators appeared. When the axle shaft broke, it damaged the brake line, causing immediate brake failure, putting my safety and others at risk. Had this occurred at high speeds or in traffic, the consequences could have been severe. I had the vehicle towed to I-10 Dodge Ram for inspection, where Service Advisor Ana Sepulveda denied the warranty claim. The denial was based on a superficial bumper scrape and minor scuff marks on suspension components, claiming these as “impact points.” However, these cosmetic markings do not justify axle failure, as no significant structural damage was found. An axle shaft should not fail due to a bumper scrape. This axle failure is a known issue in the TRX owner community, and many dealerships have acknowledged and approved warranty claims for similar failures. Despite this, I-10 Dodge is refusing warranty coverage without sufficient evidence, attempting to shift blame onto the customer. The failed axle shaft and damaged brake line are available for inspection. The issue has not been reviewed by law enforcement or an insurance representative, as this was a mechanical failure, not a collision. Given the serious safety risk of axle and brake failure, I urge Ram and NHTSA to investigate this widespread problem before it leads to serious injuries or fatalities. SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

This is the second time I am filing a complaint in regard to this issue. I was driving on a very busy road, when my vehicle had come to a complete stop. The dashboard read: “EMERGENCY BRAKE” in red, then the emergency brake had turned on by itself. After trying to turn off the brake, the vehicle completely turned off. I had to restart the vehicle, in which case it turned on in neutral. This was extremely dangerous for myself, and the people around me in the intersection. I can only hope this problem is resolved quickly.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

When stopped at a red light, vehicle shut off and emergency parking brake engaged. Safety was not necessarily put at risk but other cars had to pass me as I tried to figure out the issue. Dealer cannot reproduce the issue as it's happened only twice in one year. The only warning that came on the instrument cluster was "parking brake engaged".

Potential Consequences:

While coming to a stop, the truck died and immediately set the emergency brakes. I was stopped about 300ft. from stop sign with cars stopped behind me. With the cars behind me honking, I waved them around. Released the brake and restarted the truck. Took the truck to the dealer and they could not reproduce the incident, and it threw no codes. This could be a huge safety concern if it were to happen in traffic.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

On [XXX] at 6:15 PM approximately my brakes failed to engage and caused a rear end collision on [XXX] . This accident was caused by my brakes not responding at all when pressed fully to the ground and causing a collision and damage to two vehicles Loss of vehicle usage, property damage, and loss of work, After the collision I received an email from Dodge Fiat Chrysler at 2:01 AM on November 26th 2024 saying that there was a safety recall regarding the electronic braking system A B S module ESC system that states it can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. This email came in after the accident, and I and the other party suffered multiple damages due to the malfunction of the braking system in my 2023 Dodge Ram. We were going approximately 10- 15 miles per hour, When the woman in front of me broke very hardly, and she claimed she was talking to her child, and I was unable to use the brake as it was not working and pressed to the floor and complete loss of control of the braking system. i was unaware of this issue prior to this email after the accident at 2:01 am the following day, In opinion Dodge Chrysler should be responsible for the damages caused to both vehicles including property damages as we are all out of a car and out of work currently. While driving on a busy highway, facing early morning sun, I lowered the driver side sun visor to help keep the sun out of my eyes. A few minutes later, the sun visor came loose at the left-hand side and fell onto my hands as they were positioned on the steering wheel. This startled me, caused me to be blinded momentarily by the sun in my eyes, and caused me to have to move the visor out of my way (it was partially blocking my vision as it was hanging there from the clip on the right-hand side of the visor). It didn't cause an accident, but it certainly could have. The visor came loose from the pivot point near the driver's side A-pillar, upper left-hand corner of the windshield. I visited a Ram dealer on the way home from work, to see about getting the issue fixed. This was in October. It's now December and the dealer is still waiting on the part. The technician that looked at it did not explicitly state that it was a common issue, but his reaction to it seemed to indicate that to me. I should also note that this vehicle is a company vehicle, and not my personal vehicle.
