I almost crashed and drove into a ditch with my whole family in the truck. Including a [XXX]. I had to slam on the breaks and barely able to keep the truck from crashing. Dashboard said " Power Steering unavailable Service Required". I turned off the truck and restarted it to see if it would fix the issue. It did not. I drove the rest of the way home going slow with the hazard lights on. Steering wheel needed to be muscled for it to make the smallest turn. I had to drive over curbs because it would have been impossible to make some of the turns needed to get home. I called Ram and reposted the incident. They did not care because my vin is not listed for the recall and that the recall is "VIN specific". I do not understand this. VIN specific means each truck would be custom made and all different. Why is my family's life being risked and not being taken seriously. Once home, I have not been back in the truck. I turned it on the next day and the alert is gone and the wheel moves again. A family of 5 is now at risk. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

While driving I noticed a message that said “service electrical brake system. I took it to my local Ram dealer. They hooked up a tablet that said there was something wrong with the ABS module and it needs to be replaced. The tech then told me that there are no ABS modules available anywhere in the country, they are on back order. So here is where the complaint begins. If there are none available, that would suggest to me that an awful lot of these ABS modules have gone bad and had to be replaced I then called Ram customer service and they requested I get an order number and part number from my local Ram dealer. I did so and they had another customer service person call and when I spoke to her she said the ABS modules are unavailable because they are currently under review by their engineers. Which tells me that there is something wrong with the ABS modules. There isn’t much more of a safety hazard then not having brakes. I don’t see why a recall has not been initiated by Ram or Chrysler for these ABS modules. I am asking you to start an investigation into this problem. STEERING

Potential Consequences:

The power steering on my 2019 Ram pickup keeps going off so that i am forced to muscle the steering wheel when making turns. I filed a claim on this previously but never heard back from you. It takes quite a bit of strength to manuever the truck without power steering and this is quite unsafe in my opinion; for example, I do not allow my wife or daughter to drive the truck with this dangerous situation. I also took my vehicle into the local dealer for repair of this issue. They told me I had a weak battery with "low codes" and charged me $400 for a new battery. They told me they could not find anything else to report. Very frustrating!!!! ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

MY 2019 RAM 1500 CLASSIC SLT CREW CAB, has a serious safety DEFECT of a Remote Frequency (RF) hub, a critical component responsible for recognizing the key fob and enabling the vehicle to start which won't allow fob to work or remote start. This is caused by the rear light back window has a recurring leak that has resulted in water intrusion into the vehicle. This water damage led to the failure of the Remote Frequency (RF) hub, a critical component. The issue has also resulted in corrosion to wiring harnesses and electrical components. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This issue has put mine and my wife's safety at risk on multiple occasions. The vehicle has repeatedly failed to recognize the key fob, rendering it completely inoperable as well as the remote starter. I've been left stranded multiple times due to this defect causing keyfob to not work not allowing me to enter the vehicle either when needed especially when my wife is alone at night in this vehicle. Additionally, electrical failures pose a fire hazard and could potentially affect other critical systems while the vehicle is in operation. There are thousands of ram truck owners also complaining of the exact same issue. I have incurred expenses such as tow fee's and shop fee's when we can't enter the vehicle when posing only the fob on our person and diagnostics of this issue. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

I took my 2019 Ram 1500 to a Ram dealer on 10/21/2024 for the Anti-lock Breaking System Module Configuration Mismatch safety recall 75B/NHTSA 24V-653. There were no warning lights on in my vehicle when it was dropped off. When the dealership attempted to apply the safety recall it caused something in the ABS module to fail, and they then said I needed a new ABS module that will cost $500-$700 to replace. This failure has disabled traction control, antilock braking, and auto start/stop. The dealer said they did not have the ABS module and had no ETA as to when it would be in stock. The ABS module has been out of stock nationally for months with no estimated time of availability. Now, there are warning lamps and messages for the ABS and Traction Control. Now, I am unsure if the vehicle is safe to drive in adverse conditions where ABS and traction control would likely be needed. At the very least, a major part like an ABS Module should be available for a fairly late model vehicle. This defect "repair" has obviously caused the ABS Module failure. The dealer tried to say there was already something wrong with the ABS Module before the repairs were attempted, but neither I nor they noted any warning lamps or messages before the repairs were attempted. If the module had already failed but did not produce any warnings, that sounds like another defect that they should be required to repair.
