Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The wiring harness for the rearview camera and the center brake light may short circuit, which can disable the rearview camera image and center brake light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Potential Consequences:
The plastic seat position return broke on both sides. The passenger seat is now locked in a forward position and the drivers seat leans backwards. This was addressed TSB 23-020-19 for previous models but the problem continues. This creates a very unsafe condition for the driver and passengers leaving them stranded and harmed if it reclines while driving.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
4xe wrangler - driving for about 30 min in the pm when the red turtle symbol with the battery came on - 4xe had 20% battery and 3/4 tank of gas and could not switch from hybrid to eSave. 4xe went from full speed (45) immediately down 5mph to 0 mph a minute leaving us at the entrance of a local street (no shoulders). Dashboard said to place it in P and then select a gear - we placed it in P but was then unable to change gear (4xe was still in run mode). At this point everything locked up and after a Christmas tree dashboard light display the car went dark with only the hazards running. Had to use flashlights to make sure cars would not run into the back of the jeep Couple of minutes later our hazards lights also cut out. Towed to Dealership where they replaced the 12v as a resolution. After picking up the jeep i could not get it into electric mode, called the dealership who requested it back to pull codes. On the way back same exact issue happened again on a busy road. It's still at the dealership. Check out 4xe forum there are many reporting the same issue. I have had this car 16 months and have experience 3x the car suddenly dying with no electric but with a plenty of gas, once at 70pmh on a interstate and twice at 45mph

I was driving home from a trip to the store. I stopped at a red light and all of the sudden I got a message that traction control failed, service charging system, and power train failure occurred. I had no power to move the car and the brakes barely worked. It told me to put it in park and restart the Jeep. I was able to roll downhill to the median out of traffic and put it in park and restart it. It seemed to work normally until I went another mile or so and it happened again. This time I was in motion and had a very difficult time stopping in the middle of traffic to put the Jeep in park and restart. This is a VERY serious problem and I’m very lucky it didn’t happen on the interstate. I am a member of two Jeep 4xe groups on Facebook and this is a reoccurring issue that is extremely dangerous.

STEERING
Potential Consequences:
I have just over 27k miles on my jeep. It is a family vehicle and stays on road only. I noticed this last weekend that it is starting to suffer from the classic Jeep "death wobble" when driving on the highway under certain circumstances. Classic "higher speed" "possibly turn on a highway" and maybe the bumps of a bad road or a bridge transition and the front end shimmy's nearly uncontrollably. Was on the way to the dealership to get an oil change already. Asked them about it, he said it'd be nearly a month to get it diagnosed. Did some research, apparently this is an ongoing issue that is getting reported to Chrysler and the NHTSA already with possible "fixes" being replacement dampeners or a new steering box. I don't know what Chrysler will do at this time as the diagnosis date is in the future but... a replacement dampener seems to only bandaid the issue. The real issue is some other fault that wears the dampener down early. Replacing it or upgrading it only hides the fault. I believe they are making progress with the idea that the aluminum steering box stretches and needs to be steel but can't say 100%. What I do know is it's scary as hell when it happens and given that the jeep is already prone to a short wheelbase and higher center of gravity, any high speed steering uncontrollability should be considered critical and not "slowly looked at".

I don't know what Chrysler will do at this time as the diagnosis date is in the future but... a replacement dampener seems to only bandaid the issue. The real issue is some other fault that wears the dampener down early. Replacing it or upgrading it only hides the fault. I believe they are making progress with the idea that the aluminum steering box stretches and needs to be steel but can't say 100%. What I do know is it's scary as hell when it happens and given that the jeep is already prone to a short wheelbase and higher center of gravity, any high speed steering uncontrollability should be considered critical and not "slowly looked at".

I have just over 27k miles on my jeep. It is a family vehicle and stays on road only. I noticed this last weekend that it is starting to suffer from the classic Jeep "death wobble" when driving on the highway under certain circumstances. Classic "higher speed" "possibly turn on a highway" and maybe the bumps of a bad road or a bridge transition and the front end shimmy's nearly uncontrollably. Was on the way to the dealership to get an oil change already. Asked them about it, he said it'd be nearly a month to get it diagnosed. Did some research, apparently this is an ongoing issue that is getting reported to Chrysler and the NHTSA already with possible "fixes" being replacement dampeners or a new steering box. Went on a 1600 mile round trip from Florida to Pennsylvania. On the way back down to Florida my upper coolant hose busted and stranded me in South Carolina, 300 miles from Florida. Was on the side of the interstate with less than 20k miles on a new jeep. Thankfully no fire or anything started and the engine was close to blowing up. Only took about 45 seconds for the engine to over heat once the hose busted and I pulled over.
Corrective Action:

When starting the vehicle after sitting for an hour, there was a strong smell of a sweet substance and the cooling fans were running at full speed while stationary. Approximately 3 minutes later the vehicle stated the engine coolant temperature was 280 degrees Fahrenheit and to pull over. After pulling over and shutting off the vehicle on the side of the road, driver noticed a large puddle forming under the vehicle of pink color and was dripping from the front drivers side of the engine, at the water pump and coolant reservoir was empty. Vehicle was towed by Jeep roadside to nearest dealer who cant look at for a week.

The clutch plate overheated, fragmented and destroyed my transmission on 6/22/2022 as I was driving on the Pennsylvania Turnpike at around mile marker 61, at a speed of 65 miles/hour. When I got on the turnpike in Monroeville Pa, I could smell a burning smell, but I figured that I was passing through an area where someone was burning something outdoors. Around mile marker 60-61 I started having difficulty keeping the RPM's up and my speed up to the speed limit. shortly after I heard a banging/clunking noise and I got off the highway. My Jeep was towed to Monroeville Jeep. Monroeville Jeep called the next day 6/23/2022 and said that the clutch plate overheated, fragmented and destroyed the transmission and it is not covered under warranty since the transmission did not fail. I had previously taken my Jeep in to Diehl Automotive on 7/19/2021 for recall #Y07/NHTSA 21V-028 to have the recall done. What happened to my Jeep on 6/22/2022 is exactly what the recall said would happen if I did not have the recall work done. In the weeks prior to 6/22/2022 I did notice the RPM's acting erratically but not being a mechanic I had no clue what was going on. other than that, there was no warning signs. There is now at least 30 other Jeep owners who had the recall done, some had both recalls done and the recalls failed to prevent the clutch plate from overheating, fragmenting and destroying the transmission

Seems to happen every 5 months or so. The first time they replaced the throttle body. Second time they replaced it again and had it back for one day and the issue popped up again. They then said they would replace it but it had to be something else since it was a brand new throttle body. They ended up replacing the PCM and I was without the Jeep for an entire month. This time I went in and they said it wasn’t the throttle body. So they cleared the codes and I went to pick it up, when I turned it on it tells me to service electric throttle body. I couldn’t even make it out of the dealership parking lot. When this issue happens. No matter what speed you are at it literally decreases your speed to 15MPH. Luckily I have never been on the highway when said issue has happened. It is a serious safety concern. This last time I had my two children in the car with me, my 2 year old daughter and my 1 year old son. I do not feel safe, or that this car is reliable.
