Defect Description:
STEERING
Potential Consequences:
When driving around 65-70 mph and hit a slight bump, the vehicle shacks violently and you must slow down to about 50mph. There is no warning or any other indication the issue was about to happen. This was replicated several times over the next few days. This was a safety issue as the steering became difficult to control and slowing down to below 50 on a major highway increased risk for a rear end collision. The vehicle has been inspected by a dealer and will need new steering stabilizer. Unfortunately the parts are unavailable at this time and the jeep cannot be driven on highways until repairs are made.

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
My Jeep has the 3.0 ecodiesel engine and there are two batteries. One battery is huge and powers all the components on my vehicle. The second battery is tiny and considered an auxiliary battery. It is located in a place that I can not get too, and can not check to see if its good or bad. However, as soon as it has any issues it will keep the Jeep from starting up. If you are out in the country or in the middle of nowhere then you will be stranded. It does not matter if the larger battery is working perfectly, the auxiliary battery will disable the entire vehicle anyway. This is a huge safety issue for obvious reasons. According to Jeep forums over the internet, this is a very common issue on all Jeeps with two batteries. It would be nice to take the auxiliary battery out, but Jeep engineered the two batteries to disable the entire vehicle if the auxiliary battery dies. Poor engineering? Perhaps! I would suggest there be a recall and that Jeep be forced to take the auxiliary battery out and re-wire the electrical system to allow vehicles to start regardless of the auxiliary battery. Some customers might want to keep the auxiliary battery cause it plays a part with the auto-start system. I would like to remove the battery and the auto-start all together and still have a functioning vehicle. I don't want to be stranded out in the middle of nowhere where I have no cellphone service.

I was driving about 68 mph on the highway in my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and experienced what is commonly known as the "death wobble." My Jeep has had an open recall for 6 months. No parts available. Was told parts are now available. Was scheduled for appointment on 11/17/23 at local dealer (Montgomery Jeep in Nicholasville, KY). They called and cancelled my appointment and said Stellantis requiring that we use the only recall kit we have in stock to update the unsold vehicle that we have on the lot. They will not allow us to order the parts for your Jeep until we update the one on the lot." Since the law says "you can deliver but not sell a new vehicle with an open recall" it is clear that Stellantis is putting units at a dealership ahead of units already in the hands of customers.

While driving on the Interstate at 65 mph I experienced a severe side-to-side shaking of the steering wheel. This included the entire front-end of the vehicle shimmying and visibly vibrating. If I didn't have a good grip on the steering wheel at the time, we would likely have crashed. This appears to be the "death wobble" described in numerous online forums and subject of a previous recall on 2018 and 2019 Jeep Wrangler models. Obviously, this problem still exists on 2021 models. The event seems to be precipitated by any small bump or change in pavement such as passing over a bridge on the Interstate. There was no prior warning of this event. Total vehicle mileage is 45000 and temperature was 45 degrees. There are no modifications to the vehicle and it remains completely stock. The wobble occurred repeatedly until I could get off the Interstate.
Corrective Action:
