Defect Description:

TIRES

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2023 Indian Pursuit Dark Horse Motorcycle. The contact stated while riding 40 MPH, the front end started to wobble. The motorcycle was unstable. The motorcycle wobbled violently and was uncontrollable while the rider’s hands were touching the handlebars lightly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The motorcycle was taken to the local dealer, where it was determined that the front tire needed to be replaced. The motorcycle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The motorcycle was taken back to the local dealer, where the front tire was replaced again, and the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer informed the dealer to replace the front wheel assembly, the front tire, the wheel assembly, and the handlebar weights, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted but declined to buy back the motorcycle. Two factory engineers determined that the motorcycle was working as designed. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
