Defect Description:

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The ride command display backlight has failed to function as designed. This prevents the motorcycle operator from accessing important safety related information such as the tire pressure and GPS navigation instruction. Additionally, the rider cannot activate ride command modes that enhance rider safety during adverse conditions such as rain mode. This failure occurred during the normal course of riding the motorcycle. The dealer has inspected the motorcycle and agrees that the display needs to be replaced under warranty. Indian Motorcycle has not been able to supply a replacement display in over 4 months, yet continues to produce new motorcycles for sale with this display. There were no warnings prior to the display failure. My dealer has indicated that he has several customers in a similar situation waiting on parts for an extensive period of time.
