Safety Issue:
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) recalled certain 2019-2021 Tucson vehicles on September 4, 2020. On December 30, 2020, Hyundai expanded the recall population, and added certain 2016-2018 Tucson vehicles. The Anti-lock Brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) could corrode internally and cause an electrical short, possibly resulting in an engine compartment fire.

Safety Issue:
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Tucson vehicles manufactured May 19, 2015, to November 14, 2016, and 2017 Santa Fe vehicles manufactured November 28, 2015, to November 14, 2016. The affected vehicles may be equipped with an accessory trailer hitch wiring harness that, due to a malfunction of the tow hitch module, may result, in the trailer brake lights being constantly illuminated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

ENGINE FIRE. PULLING INTO OUR DRIVEWAY THE CAR WAS STOPPED IN FRONT OF OUR GARAGE. SMOKE WAS ISSUING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. OPENING THE HOOD REVEALED A FIRE FROM UNDER THE ENGINE TOP COWLING AND ON THE FELT HOOD LINER. A FIRE EXTINGUISHER (A,B,C) IN THE GARAGE WAS USED TO QUICKLY EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE FIRE DID NOT SPREAD BEYOND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

DCT TRANSMISSION I PURCHASED A 2017 TUCSON AFTER 12 YEAR WITH A HONDA CRV THAT JUST NEEDED NORMAL MAINTENANCE. 308000 MILES WHEN IT STARTED TO SHOW SIGNS OF MAJOR ISSUES. I CAN SAY I TRULY REGRET NOT JUST REPAIRING IT BECAUSE THE TUCSON EVEN THOUGH IT HAS SOME UPTO DATE FEATURES AND THE RIDE IS A GREAT ONCE IS GETS GOING HAS A HORRIBLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM THAT I FEAR IS GOING TO GET ME IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CARS TRANSMISSION STUTTERS AND CHATTERS AT LOW SPEEDS LIKE IT CAN'T DECIDE WHICH GEAR IT WANTS TO BE IN. PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT REMAINS ON WHENEVER AN ADULT WEIGHING MORE THA 120 LBS ARE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH A SMALL PILLOW OR SEAT CUSHION ON THE SEAT. PILLOW IS NEEDED TO ENHANCE SEATING COMFORT, ESPECIALLY ON LONG ROAD TRIPS. LIGHT DOES WORK WHEN PILLOW IS NOT USED. UNFORTUNATELY, SEAT IS POORLY DESIGNED THAT REQUIRES ADDITIONAL AFTER MARKET SUPPORT TO MAKE IT USABLE ON LONG TRIPS. SENSOR NEED TO DETECT PASSENGER WEIGHT WITH OR WITHOUT ADDITIONAL CUSHIONS OR ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG 100% OF THE TIME. I HAVE ALREADY REPORTED THIS TO HYUNDAI, CASE NUMBER 10626629. THIS HAS PUT ME IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHEN I BELIEVE I HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO TURN, BUT WHEN THE CAR DOES NOT RESPOND, MY TIME AVAILABLE TO TURN IS REDUCED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE DUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM HAS FAILED TO ENGAGE. IT OCCURS WHEN I AM STOPPED AND PRESS THE PEDAL TO ACCELERATE THE CAR. THE CAR FEELS AS THOUGH IT IS GOING TO STALL AND DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD. THIS HAS PUT ME IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHEN I BELIEVE I HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO TURN, BUT WHEN THE CAR DOES NOT RESPOND, MY TIME AVAILABLE TO TURN IS REDUCED. I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS BEHAVIOR AND IT IS THE NATURE OF A DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THE SERVICE MAN SAID THAT IT TAKES TIME FOR THE COMPUTER TO DETERMINE WHAT IT IS GOING TO DO NEXT AND I NEED TO GIVE IT THAT TIME.
