Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
I’m filing this complaint regarding my 2022 GMC Yukon Denali (VIN: [XXX] , MSRP ~$76,805) with an unresolved L87 engine recall. I made an appointment at my local GMC dealership on 5/8/25 specifically for the L87 recall. Upon arrival, staff only documented the Serial Data Gateway Module recall, which I hadn’t even known about. When I mentioned the 6.2L engine, I was asked if I was “sure.” I believe I was treated dismissively because I’m a woman. After pushing back, staff pulled up the bulletin, confirmed my engine needed replacement, and told me to “drive it until it blows up or there’s a fix, whichever comes first.” The L87 was only added to my receipt after I insisted—it was falsely listed as an “added operation,” though it was the reason I came in. I sent a certified letter to GM on 5/12/25 (signed for on 5/15/25) confirming the date I tendered the vehicle. Both GM and the dealer were fully aware the 60-day federal repair window had begun. It is now well past that deadline, and the L87 recall remains unresolved. Compounding the issue, the AC failed on [XXX], and the vehicle has been parked since early June due to extreme KY heat, making it unsafe to drive my children. I rely on this vehicle for daily commuting—driving ~100 miles/day for work—and it is also the only vehicle we own capable of towing our family boat, which has now sat unused all summer. I am currently paying $1,000/mo for the Yukon, $600/mo for the boat, and $200/mo for insurance—$1,800/month in preventable financial losses caused by GM’s failure to act. No repair has been offered. No loaner vehicle has been provided. No response has been received. I believe I was misled and discriminated against at the dealership, and I am now financially burdened and without a safe, reliable vehicle. This situation qualifies under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act for repurchase, compensation, or forced resolution. I am requesting a formal investigation and full remedy. SUSPENSION
Potential Consequences:
On 5/22/2025, I filed a complaint with NHTSA, complaint number 11662650. In the complaint, I reported issues regarding safety concerns that began around October 2023 and were shortly after reported to GMC. Some of the reported issues were concerns with oil consumption due to warning lights coming on; parking warning sensors intermittently coming on; and what appears to be suspension issues as there continues to be a knocking, cracking, and snapping noise coming from the front suspension when making a left or right turn, along with a bumping when in motion, among other issues such as Infotertainment that continues to be an issue. Recently, we took our SUV to a GMC authorized dealer since it was still under warranty and these issues continued to persist and it is getting worse. The vehicle was left around 5/28/25 and picked up on 6/17/25. However, less than a couple of weeks after, we started experiencing the same issues with the suspension as the knocking, cracking, snapping, and bumping is getting more obvious and worse, and it appears is affecting the steering and alignment of the SUV. Please update this information as there is a major concern with safety of the vehicle. Attached are some of the service records related to these issues. Should you need any additional information, please advise. Thank you.

Thank you.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Dropped my 2022 Yukon Denali off May 7, 2025 to Mike Reed Chevy due to failed transmission. Order was placed May 15, 2025 for a valve body part. Multiple phone calls were made without success on status of repair. I was forced to drive to the dealership for answers on June 10. I was told that due to my car being under warranty I am at the mercy of GM. The Part needed is apparently on indefinite backorder. Contacted GM to expedite part and was told it could be 3+ months before I can expect my car back. Claim number with GM is 55328239. After doing research, there is over 2000 people who are experiencing the same issue. Mike Reed Chevy nor GM offered assistance with a rental to offset the inconvenience. It was only until I demanded to speak with the service manager that I was given a rental car. As someone who manages a hospital, the delay in obtaining this part has caused significant hardship, and to date, there has been no clear timeframe provided for when the part will become available or when repairs can be completed. As a consumer, I am left without reliable transportation as the dealership has requested me to return my rental. The lack of transparency or timeline for resolution is deeply concerning. This has not only impacted my ability to fulfill daily responsibilities, but has also raised broader concerns about the availability of necessary vehicle parts and the protections in place for consumers in similar situations. I am seeing guidance or intervention from your office to help expedite this matter, whether through direct communication with the manufacturer, identifying legal remedies available under consumer protection laws, or advocating on behalf of consumers facing unreasonable delays in vehicle repairs due to supply chain issues. Any assistance or direction your office can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Defect Description:
SUSPENSION
Potential Consequences:
My wife and I purchased a new 2022 Yukon around July 4, 2022. The vehicle came with a 36k or 3 years warranty. Around October 2023, we experienced several safety concern issues with the SUV and around 11/01/23, we reported these issues to a GMC dealer. Around 11/01/23, we took our SUV for service at an approved GMC dealer and reported issues with the steering suspension such as a knocking, snapping, and cracking sound when making a turn, and a bumping when making a U-turn or left turn into a parking spot. We also reported issues with the parking and key sensors. We were informed the issue was fixed and that some suspension bolts were loosed and needed to be torqued. On 1/29/24, we took the SUV back for some of these same reasons after other dealers declined to take our SUV under warranty. Once more, the issue was temporarily fixed. We have now scheduled another appointment for these same reasons of knocking, cracking, and bumping when coming from the front suspension and when making a turn or U-turn. In addition, we are now experiencing oil warning lights for a second time as oil comsumption. We believe these are serious safety issues, especially with any potential failure of the suspension under rain, fog conditions, and the lack of resolution and wonder if other similar issues have been reported or experienced by similar drivers of these vehicles. Attached find copies of the work orders. Should you need any additional information, please advise. Thank you.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
On the morning of Thursday, [XXX], our 2022 Yukon Denali departed from West Richland, WA with the intent to arrive in Spokane, WA. After a short stop in Ritzville, WA around [XXX] local time, we entered the freeway ([XXX] to Spokane, WA) and attempted to pass a semi-truck. The vehicle got to approximately 60mph and then began to rev without any propulsion to increase speed. The vehicle shut off completely and stated that we were to put the car in neutral and attempt to restart. While going 50-60mph, we shifted into neutral and attempted to restart without any success. While the situation was extremely dangerous give the traffic (semi-truck on the right and an approaching vehicle directly behind us), we slowed the vehicle and maneuvered to the shoulder where we stopped the vehicle. The vehicle would not start so we leverage the OnStar system to call a tow truck. Unfortunately, there was no ride available being 1-2 miles outside of Ritzville, WA where transportation services do not exist. We requested the help of WA state troopers who picked up 7 of us (4 separate trips) on the side of the highway. The vehicle was towed to Spokane, WA and we were left to fend for ourselves to get to Spokane. The vehicle is in the shop and we are told based on the codes achieved that it is a full engine failure.
