ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

At approximately 9k mi the engine performance (2.7L MAX Turbo) started to become intermittent. I always record the fuel milage, and always drive the same way, to/from work. NOTE: Displayed mpg calculates within 1% of actual. We can assume the driving habits are identical each time. While driving on the same tank of fuel for a week at a time: one day heading to work the indicated mpg might be 17 mpg. Driving home, about 10 minutes into the drive, it might increase 25 mpg. The following day it could be the same 17/25 mpg or it might be 25/17. The weather is somewhat dependent, whereas around =<43F the 17 mpg is almost a guarantee. While the indicated lower mpg is displayed, a direct lack of engine power is noticeable. The accelerator is dangerously non-responsive, all the while of pressing the pedal >3/4 to the floor. There is also no downshifting from the transmission whatsoever. To make the engine respond to change, the accelerator must be fully pressed to the floor, forcing the transmission into a lower gear and causing the engine to 'wake up'. When the mpg is above 20 or 21 mpg, (and temperatures >50F) the engine performs normally, where gradual accelerations to the pedal increase the engine speeds and down shift as expected. I have contacted GM through the 'MyCheverlot' app a couple of times, and have taken the truck to the dealer twice for this. Both times from the dealer it was stated that since the engine light was not on and no codes were stored, there was nothing that could be done. The dealer installed a software update and sent me on my way. Lastly, the 4WD is now making a grinding/rubbing noise, since the software update and overcomes the engine power while making turns from a stopped position. If no acceleration is applied, the truck will come to a rapid complete stop if rolling <10 mph. Truck is a LEMON!!

Defect Description:

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Truck is equipped with a power up/down tailgate. I was driving on a rainy day and stopped for gas. Upon putting the vehicle in Park and shutting off the engine, the driver information center alerted with a dinging sound several times. Upon returning and starting the engine the information center alerted that the tailgate was open. I got out and checked and the tailgate was open. I closed the tailgate by manually lifting it. I believe this is a safety issue and the switching mechanism or sensor needs to be repaired or replaced.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

On first start up when put truck in drive and give gas when it shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear there is a big hesitation when trying to shift and rpm’s revs up then it goes into 2nd gear. This has been verified by the dealers service advisor. The service advisor says they have no service bulletin on this problem so they have no solution for it at this time. This has been happening since August 3 2023 off and on until today. I have many recording of this happening. The service adviser has listened to several of them.

Potential Consequences:

On [XXX], while driving 70 mph on [XXX] towards Weatherford, Texas. There was an unoccupied vehicle parked on the shoulder of the highway that was at least 15 feet from my lane. The automatic braking system slammed on the brakes unexpectedly. On [XXX] while driving 65 mph on Highway [XXX] from Cleburne Texas to Fort Worth Texas, a Texas Department of Public Safety (Highway Patrol) was parked on the shoulder of the North bound lane. SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

While stopped at an intersection my truck lost all electrical power. a couple of seconds later the dash lights came on saying that the vehicle did not have any brakes or brake assist. Then while the vehicle was still in drive it started. due to the brakes not working the vehicle jerked forward. I put the car in neutral. The light turned green and I was able to get out of intersection and then went to the side of the road. While driving this short distance the vehicle displayed that because the brakes were not working it would not go over 62 MPH. Once I was able to stop I shut vehicle off. I waited a short time and restarted the vehicle. This appeared to fix the braking problem but the check engine light stayed on. Drove home with no further issues and called for service which will be 2/19/24. Mostly my concern is that the vehicle restarted while in drive with the vehicle having no brakes.
