Chrysler (FCA) has identified a problem affecting the airbag safety on certain 2020 RAM 1500 and 2020 RAM ProMaster vehicles. (Vehicles still in dealer inventory are required by Federal law, to have the recall completed before it can be delivered to the customer.)
According to the defect report, some vehicles may have a side air bag curtain in which the diffuser was improperly crimped. The diffuser could separate from the inflator during deployment and compromise the integrity of the air bag or cause the fill time to be delayed. The problem could reduce the protection of occupants in the event of a crash.
Owners contacted by the FCA will be asked to return to their dealerships to have the side curtain air bag assemblies replaced. FCA US's number for this recall is W52 and the NHTSA campaign number is 20V-374.
