Ford Edge & Lincoln MKX - Change In Brake Feel & Travel

On 2020-08-21 11:35:07

The owners of certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX will be contacted by the manufacturer regarding a problem affecting the brakes in their vehicles.

According to the defect report, the internal reinforcement braid of the front brake jounce hoses could fail due to consistent localized fatigue during suspension and steering movements. A ruptured brake hose will cause a progressive brake fluid leak that will result in increased pedal travel, longer stopping distances and an illuminated brake fluid warning indicator light .

Dealers will correct the problem by replacing the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material,. Because parts are not currently available, an interim notification will be sent to owners, making them aware of the issue. And a second letter will be sent once parts are available.

Ford's number for this recall is 20S42 and the NHTSA campaign number is 20V-469.
