Chrysler Issues Fix for Pacifica and Voyager Minivans Over Stability Control Issue
If you family-haul in a late-model Chrysler minivan, a new safety campaign from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA US, LLC) requires a quick trip to the dealer. A potential component defect could cause the vehicle's Electronic Stability Control (ESC) to deactivate unexpectedly, increasing the risk of an accident.
What Is the Issue?
According to documentation filed with safety regulators (NHTSA Campaign Number 26V-561), the problem stems from a small but critical electrical part: a cracked capacitor within the brake pedal position sensor. If this capacitor fails, it can disrupt communication to the vehicle's safety computers and cause a complete loss of Electronic Stability Control.
Why Is Electronic Stability Control Important?
Electronic Stability Control automatically applies brakes to individual wheels and adjusts engine power when it detects a loss of steering control or traction (such as skidding on wet or icy roads). Because functioning ESC is critical for driver safety, vehicles experiencing this fault fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 126.

This service campaign is relatively targeted, affecting an estimated 2,017 units across the following models:
- 2025–2026 Chrysler Voyager
- 2025–2026 Chrysler Pacifica
- 2026 Chrysler Voyager Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV)
The Dealer Remedy
Authorized Chrysler dealerships will inspect the brake pedal position sensor assembly and replace the component, free of charge, if necessary.
