Defect Description:

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

THE TOW / HAUL MODE DOES NOT FUNCTION AS DESCRIBED IN THE FORD OWNER'S MANUAL ON THE 2016 18,000# FORD F53 CHASSIS. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATES: "THE TOW HAUL FEATURE PROVIDES ENGINE BRAKING IN ALL FORWARD GEARS, WHICH WILL SLOW YOUR VEHICLE AND ASSIST YOU IN CONTROLLING YOUR VEHICLE WHEN DESCENDING A GRADE. DEPENDING ON DRIVING CONDITIONS AND LOAD CONDITIONS, MAY DOWNSHIFT THE TRANSMISSION, SLOW YOUR VEHICLE AND CONTROL YOUR VEHICLE SPEED WHEN DESCENDING A HILL, WITHOUT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL." THE TOW HAUL FEATURE HAS NO EFFECT AND DOES NOT DOWNSHIFT THE TRANSMISSION, SLOW VEHICLE, OR CONTROL THE VEHICLE'S SPEED WHEN DESCENDING A HILL. THE TOW HAUL DOES NOT FUNCTION AT ALL AS THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE DESCENDING A HILL WITH OR WITHOUT THE FEATURE SELECTED ON. THE VEHICLE MERELY GAINS SPEED AND THE TOW HAUL DOES NOT CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO DOWNSHIFT NOR DOES IT CONTROL THE VEHICLE'S SPEED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS FORD / WINNEBAGO DID NOT PROVIDE THE TOW HAUL FEATURE AS OUTLINED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL.
