Potential Consequences:

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 WINNEBAGO 31BE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V782000 (EQUIPMENT) ON JANUARY 22, 2018. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A REPLACEMENT FIRE EXTINGUISHER WOULD ARRIVE IN THE MAIL. ONE MONTH LATER, THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER STILL HAD NOT BEEN RECEIVED. THE CONTACT MADE TWO OTHER ATTEMPTS TO RECEIVE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER WITH NO REPLY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. *TT

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

THE NEW FORD 6 SPEED COMES ON THE 2016 F53 CHASSIS. IT FEATURES A TOW/HAUL MODE THAT WILL AUTOMATICALLY DOWNSHIFT WHILE DECELERATING WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TAPPED.THIS HAS BEEN A FEATURE MANY OTHER PREVIOUS TRANSMISSIONS HAVE ALSO EMPLOYED, AND HAS BEEN QUITE EFFECTIVE AT CONTROLLING VEHICLE SPEEDS. IT TURNS OUT MY PARTICULAR UNIT DOESN'T REACT TO BRAKE INPUT AND CONTINUES TO COAST DOWN ANY GRADE, DEPENDING ONLY ON BRAKING SYSTEM TO CONTROL SPEED. I CHECKED WITH OTHERS (FORUM) TO SEE IF I WAS AN ISOLATED CASE, AND FOUND MANY OTHERS HAVE NOTICED THE SAME. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN TRYING TO CONTROL A 18,000LB VEHICLE DOWN A STEEP GRADE, POSSIBLY OVERHEATING THE BRAKES AND POTENTIALLY LOOSING ANY BRAKING ACTION.
