Defect Description:

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

I was driving my 2018 Vespa 300 and I came to a stop sign. At this point the brake lever would not operate causing the scooter not to stop and to go into the intersection when other cars were crossing.A very dangerous occurrence. The brake lever is stuck in the open position and cannot be depressed. Further investigation reveals that this same issue is an ABS issue and subject of a recall for replacement in 2019&2020 models. I brought the vehicle to an Authorized Vespa dealership and called Vespa. A Vespa representative conversed with the dealership mechanic and stated that the ABS system has to be replaced with approximately 3500 miles on the scooter. They stated they will not fix the scooter under warranty/ recall
