Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
My motorcycle began stalling when I pulled in the clutch and braked when approaching stops or when moving through slow speed turns. As time went on, it became more and more frequent. At least, once per ride. In December 2022, I took my Trident in for its annual service and mentioned the stalling to the technician. He said they would take a look at it and see what's up. When I picked up my bike, they said that they did not experience any stalling during their test ride after the service. Because they were not able to replicate the issue, no work was done. But they said to bring it back if the problem continues. The problem continued. In January 2023 and it was happening several times in a single ride. On a bad day, it would stall at every light or stop sign I'd hit, making the bike feel unsafe and un-rideable. It would die mid-turn causing me to almost fall over with traffic behind me. Then I started experiencing some trouble starting my bike when the engine was cold. I'd pull in the clutch, hit the ignition switch, and the engine would turn over before promptly dying. So I took it back to the dealer and this time they reflashed the ECU, thinking there might be some kind of bug there. I rode the bike home and it continued to stall. I returned to the dealer again. As it turns out, the MAP sensor and the MAP sensor hose was mucked up with oil and that there was also oil inside the airbox. These parts were replaced. Since then, the stalling issue has been resolved. But there are various forums online with riders providing anecdotal information about the stalling issue returning later on. https://www.trident660.com/index.php/topic,255.0.html

Triumph Motorcycles America, Ltd.
Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
When I slow down my bike and hold in the clutch, the engine will cut off. This can happen as I'm coming to a stoplight or it has also happened during turns which is extremely dangerous on a motorcycle. I have taken my bike to the dealer and they supposedly fixed the problem, but fast forward 7 months later to this month and the problem has resurfaced even more severe than before. It happens every day I ride the bike and I am a daily rider.
