Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2021 Tiffin Allegro RV built on a 2020 Ford F-53 Chassis. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle experienced an unexpected transmission downshift to first gear and the rear wheels locked up, causing the vehicle to skid. The contact immediately shifted into neutral(N), and the vehicle stopped skidding. The contact then shifted to drive(D) and continued driving. The contact stated that after the failure, the vehicle started making an abnormal sound while driving. The vehicle was taken to the Ford dealer, where the axle bearings were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer, Hemborg Ford (1900 Hamner Ave, Norco, CA 92860), where it was determined that the rear third member needed to be replaced. The dealer was awaiting the part arrival. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown transmission recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 9,300.

Defect Description:
SUSPENSION
Potential Consequences:
The automatic leveling jacks have lateral support bars, both front and rear. This support bar has been reported numerous times (>20) via social media as having come apart due to very poor welding; and or no weld other than minor tap welds to hold in place. This fault could lead to the motorhome shift downwards rapidly and seriously injuring or killing the occupants accessing the under coach storage and or service compartments, or Should this very large (40 lbs, 6' long) piece of metal detach while the coach is traveling, this road debris could very likely injure and or kill the occupant(s) of a following vehicle.

Defect Description:
SUSPENSION
Potential Consequences:
I performed a visual inspection of my front and rear sway bar brackets since I had heard that bolts are coming loose within 1,5k - 3k miles on the 2021 F53 chassis. I found that the rear sway bar bushing bracket on the driver's side was broken, and the bushing was missing. It appears that the lower bolt on the bracket had fallen out or was never installed and consequently created undo force on the bracket causing it to break in half. I am replacing both of the brackets on the rear sway bar, bushings, bolts and nuts. In addition, I will be applying blue locktite threadlock and torquing bolts to 184 ft/lb as recommended in the manufacturers repair manual. This problem is a safety hazard due to excessive sway after bolts come loose. In addition, the parts falling off on the road is hazardous to vehicle passengers following behind. I am concerned since this seems to be a common problem based on blogs and Facebook posts from other Motorhome owners recently purchasing a motorhome on the new F53 chassis.
