saturn sky fitted with goodyear eagle f1 gs-2 tires. because of no traction on slick roadway, car spun out while slowly accelerating, crossed two lanes, and hit guardrail. anti-lock brakes and counter steering had no effect.

rear differential seal leaking 12/27/06 rear differential seal leaking 02/21/07 tried to rebuilt rear differential 07/06/07 clutch replace the whole rear differential 07/30/07 rear differential seal replace 02/09/08 replace steering wheel 03/04/08 the brakes continue grind when coming down an incline. dealer can't resolve the problem. this issue been addressed every time the car's been in the shop. 1st gear grinds but dealer states this is normal.

on july 23, 2008, at approximately 1:30 a.m. i was driving a 2007 saturn sky approximately 40 mph down the road. while driving, i placed my left signal light on and began to attempt to change lanes. at this time, while attempting to change lanes, the steering wheel turned to the left, however the tires did not respond. as a result of the malfunction, i was forced to slam on the brakes. due to this accident, i have sustained serious bodily injuries, namely, a shattered mandible, a broken orbital bone, a broken nose, partial numbing of the left side of the face, and severe facial scars. additionally, i have been told that i may have sustained permanent partial facial paralysis on the lower left side of my face. updated 03-09-09 *bf (lawyer wrote in on behalf of his client). the lawyer did reference a recall that had been issued which may have been a contributing factor to the accident. recall # 07v589000 updated 03/10/09. *b

our office has previously filed a complaint in regard to a 2007 saturn sky that we believe is defective. my client's name is matt castro and the pending odi number is 10237967. on september 10, 2008 general motors sent out an accident investigator to conduct an inspection of the vehicle. upon completion of the inspection, mr. briscoe noted something peculiar on the sdm information box. mr. briscoe, the accident investigator, found that the information given on the box stated the my client matt castro did not have his seat belt on at the time the accident occurred. however, police reports and police statements provide that my client had to have his safety belt cut away to extract him from the vehicle. this discrepancy is of monumental importance if we are to rely on the accuracy of the sdm devices. sdm devices main purpose is to provide accurate data at the time an accident occurs. a defective device failing to record accurate data compromises all further investigations of the vehicle. it is our hope that you address the defective sdm devices on the saturn sky with urgency as this problem could only magnify should other incidents arise.

wiring to my air conditioning blower burnt on my 2007 saturn sky. it would work off and on, finally brought it in to dealer. i was told by service tech that if i kept using it might have caused a fire. wires are on backorder which leads me to wonder if this might be a problem on all saturn 2007 sky's.

tl*the contact owns a 2007 saturn sky. the contact stated that the hood to her convertible does not have a secondary latch. as a result, the hood rapidly flies back as if it were a sail. if the hood spontaneously opens while driving on the beltway, it could easily detach because of the air pressure from the wind. she took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the component was not a warranty item; therefore, she would have to repair the vehicle at her expense. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure and current mileages were 13,900.

since september the dealer saturn of union, nj has been trying to repair my convertible top on my car. the top does not lock in correctly, there has been numerous replacements on the 2007 saturn sky tops for defects, so many that saturn has put a restraint on the dealers replacing tops. my car has been there 6 times time and still it is not repaired. i have a case with saturn customer service and yet still no repair, the top not locking in correctly is dangerous an i am afraid of the top breaking free while driving. if a corporation stops replacement due to many replacements something is wrong, they know the type two roofs are much better and safer yet they are now reluctant to replace them.

2007 saturn sky traveling in excess of 50 mph with traffic south on rt2 in edgewater md in the right lane of a 6 lane divided highway. a 2007 kia traveling east across the 6 lanes of traffic failed to stop for stop sign. sky hit kia head on in to the passenger side of the kia centered on the pillar between the front and back doors. air bags in the 2007 sky failed to deploy.

i own a 2007 saturn sky and have for 31/2 years in that time there hasnt been anybody in the passenger seat maybe a total of 4 months. my passenger seat airbag sensor has already gone bad and i know on the skyroadster and the sollstice forums there have been several more. the sensor i think is made by nippondenso and installed on the 2006-2009 sky/solstice's i dont expect gm to spend a ton of money replacing them but they could at least come up with a mod so the airbag is on all the time or go after nippondenso for a inferior product. i really think they should last longer then a few months and want gm to do something about it!! thank you rick leslie email rick.leslie@delta.com cell 612-220-6531

the limited slip differential failed on my 2007 saturn sky. the failure of this component caused the car to suddenly and violently fishtail while making a left turn at normal highway speeds. the car subsequently smashed into the center median, then bounced into the adjacent lane where it collided with a large suv. the suv rolled over my hood and flipped over on its top. fortunately no one was injured. the accident resulted in the suv being totaled and severe front end damage to my car. the failure in the differential was first detected by the body repair technician and later verified by a qualified gm dealer. it is now being replaced under warranty. condition: weather was sunny and clear. no oil or water on the roadway. safety recall nhtsa 07v589000, power train axle assembly axle shaft seal, was performed approximately 6 months earlier.

after i parked my saturn sky in my daughter-in-law's driveway for approximately 15 minutes, my son-in-law and i heard a loud "pop" from my saturn sky. about 5 minutes later, my saturn sky drifted backwards out of the driveway (slight downhill direction) and into the street. my son-in-law ran after the car and caught up to it just as stopped drifting backwards uphill in the street and began drifting forward in a downhill direction. he was able to reach into the car (the convertible top was down) and set the emergency brake. while doing so, the car ran over his foot injuring his toe. thank god there were no children playing in the driveway! the emergency brake was initially set since the driveway does have a slight slope towards the street, but after cooling down for approximately 15 minutes, the emergency brake released.

i delivered the vehicle to bill fox chevy for servicing as directed by gm (saturn) customer service case number [xxx] for grinding noise and fluid leaking on the 2007 saturn sky (21433 miles). there was a recall ( 07v58900) for a faulty seal on this models differential unit. it showed the recall was handled on april 29,2008 by lakeside of saturn which i did not recall. after investigation by the dealer it was agreed that the differential was grinding and the left differential/axle seal was leaking fluid. the repairs were made and had to pay $ 455.63 for the repairs on this defective designed part. gm denied my request for covering this under the recall notice. this is my wife's vehicle only driven in the summer. she did not know there was an issue. i drove it and noticed right away and found the recall and contacted gm(saturn) cs. i stopped my wife from driving because the recall stated the differential could lockup and cause an accident which is a huge safety issue. also i had a 100k warranty on the drivetrain which they said hit 5 yrs in august 2012. i believe gm should be held responsible for this recall on the total differential ext/int parts. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

air bag warning light came on, and disappeared while at a red light in a period of about ~1 minute. after passenger sat in the car, air bag warning light came on again for a short period of about five minutes and off again. passenger air bag indicator at the time when alert came on was noted as off state, all other time when passenger is present, indicator is noted as on state. after driving a while ~20minutes, air bag warning light came on and this time it stayed on, passenger airbag indicator is in off state. upon restarting the car/engine. warning light disappeared however, after short minutes it came back on, and now the air bag warning light has been on for over 3 days. passenger in or not, indicator is in off state. after viewing forums and posts about recurring problem effected by similar cars such as the pontiac solstice, pontiac solstice gpx, and saturn sky, please take consideration in looking into our air bag system. thank you!

received a "service air bag" code on my dic output. contacted my local service center and verified that there were no safety recalls for the failed passenger present system module associated with the airbag system. performed lots of research and discovered that this is an extremely prevalent and common problem with virtually all models and years of the pontiac solstice and saturn sky. i am highly concerned to also discover that the passenger airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident due to the defective part not detecting the presence of a passenger.

i started the car and the "service air bag" light came up in the message center on the dash. the passenger air bag light indicates that the passenger air bag is not on even when there is a passenger. this is a very dangerous situation for the passenger to be in. it is my understanding that this is not an uncommon problem for saturn skys and pontiac solstices. there are many, many incidences of this problem. the cost of repair is extremely high and the dealership we took it to said there was no recall for this part. this defective part should have a recall for the safety of all the owners and their passengers.

my saturn sky's passenger air bag "service air bag" light has been on for a month now, and i assume there is no protection from it. i researched on line about it and it seems every car has this issue eventually. i know saturn no longer exists, but gm should do a recall on them and get them fixed. this is serious issue and a $750-$1000 repair that most can't afford.

the passenger seat airbag sensor has failed in my car. this has resulted in a condition in which the passenger air bag is permanently disabled, a potential large safety hazard. after researching this issue, it appears as though this is a common problem among the saturn sky and pontiac solstice cars, and there is no outstanding recall to remedy this issue. there are many of these cars on the road today that are operating without a functional passenger air bag, putting passengers are significantly greater risk for injury in the event of a collision. given the prevalence of this issue, its severity, and the cost to repair, i feel as though a safety recall is should be considered for these models.

2007 saturn sky redline sitting at an idle passenger sat down in the seat and service airbag light illuminated, dic showed "service airbag system", passenger airbag indicator light showed off. upon taking to dealer problem was determined to be the passenger presence system (pps) sensor failed. the sensor failed do to the flexing of the sensor as passengers got in and out of the vehicle not from neglect by the owner. the total is $1125.00 with part shipping install and zeroing of new the sensor. this is a very common problem with the saturn sky and pontiac solstice, there has been reports of the replacement sensors failing in as little as a year. when this part fails the passenger side airbag will not deploy causing a significant rise in the potential injury of the passenger during a crash. with the abundance of this problem it an obvious defect of the part the only way an owner can stop this from happening is to not have anyone or anything in the passenger seat to avoid flexing of the sensor. the price for the repair, the potential injury and how often this is happening, i believe is a valid reason for a safety recall and replacement of the sensor by the manufacturer or dealer.

i went into a parking lot and over a speed bump with a passenger in the car. as soon as we went over the speed bump the light on my dash that shows an airbag being deployed lit up. now the dealership says the passenger presence module for the passenger air bag is bad. since this is a "smart" airbag system the module has to be changed and calibrated at the dealer. this was one of a very few time i've had a passenger in my car and seems beyond comprehension that this sensor would break with such limited use and cost $1000 to replace. i have found through my research that many thousands of gm products are having very similar issues with very similar cost to repair. sure seems like gm knows there is a problem but has found that it's more profitable to keep replacing them at the owners cost!

passenger service air bag light come on. this car rarely has a passenger in the car and the car only has a little over 50,000 miles on it. i had to have the seat sensor repaired out of my own pocket even though this is a known problem with these cars (and others using the same sensor) and should be recalled for repair or reimbursement. gm is apparently turning a deaf ear to the complaints with regards to this issue. this is a safety issue and i hope it doesn't take a death or serious injury because the system failed.

the recent recall on ignition switches for gm vehicles is great however there are a number of gm cars that have an additional problem affecting the deployment of the air bag beside the ignition switch. thousands of gm vehicles have an inferior passenger seat sensor that goes out and will not deploy the air bag for the passenger of the car. gm is knowledgeable of this and refuses to fix the problem for the owners. cars affected are the saturn sky, pontiac solstice, pontiac g6, chevrolet malibu and some model corvettes. the item costs consumers 1000.00 to fix and it is possible it will go out again in months after replaced. gm knows about this have had my saturn sky tested and it is identified as the passenger seat sensor. the feds need to get gm to be more honest and include this item as a safety recall as well. it appears that since no passengers have been killed that it is not a concern. please look into this matter as well.

although i rarely have passengers, for some odd reason, my passenger airbag warning light randomly went on. after searching the internet for causes/solutions, i see that this is a common occurrence for these types of cars. there's even a movement with sky and solstice owners who have this issue to com here and file this form (which is how i found it). this issue wouldn't be so intolerable, if the solution wasn't so expensive (over $1000 for a sensor/module repair - $356.43 for parts and a whopping $647.50 in labor). this needs to be corrected and i hope this form is part of the solution. thank you!

my vehicle's air bag light came on and i had it inspected by keyes chevrolet, a registered saturn servicer. he informed me that the passenger side airbag module was faulty and it would be about 900-1000 dollars to fix it. they didn't print me the estimate or the part number. i went to an independent mechanic who said the part was indeed around 500 dollars, but the airbag sensor should not be faulty after only 62,000 miles. my extended service plan through ford refuses to cover this extreme safety hazard. if anything ever happened to me or my passenger due to this issue i would absolutely file a lawsuit. this is not something i should have to pay nearly a thousand dollars to fix especially since i am going through a recall right now with the ignition- and they still do not have the parts in, may car could slip into drive or reverse while in park and they said it would take 2 months to get the recall parts in? this is all terrifying and unacceptable.

the saturn sky was purchased with a failed sensor on the passenger side seat for the airbag. upon research i discovered that this is a known issue with the saturn sky and pontiac solstice. it affects multiple years and gm has known about it since it started happening. yet upon review there has not been a recall issued for this problem. this is clearly a safety issue in regards to the safety of the passenger in a two seat car. gm is now issuing recalls for almost everything and i have read multiple reports to your organization in regards to the airbag sensor problem, but gm does nothing. when is this issue going to be taken seriously? i wish i had the statistics on how many have been injured or killed due to this failed sensor so i could include that.

at times the passenger air bag indicator shows off when a passenger is in the passenger seat. this has been happening for years. most of the time the indicator is on when a passenger is in the car and when the indicator is off i have tried to drive to the nearest saturn dealer but the indicator then shows on when i get to the dealer(which was 50 miles away). finally when the recent gm ignition switch recall directed me to a closer gm dealer i brought my car in and told them about the air bag issue. for two days they could not get the air bag indicator to show off with a passenger in the passenger seat, however on the third day the indicator showed off. they told me it was the air bag sensor in the seat. to replace the part($500.00) and labor cost it would cost me $800.00. they told me other owners have had this problem. since this is a safety issue, i feel this should also be a recall item.

2007 saturn sky 25000 miles i just took my sky into the dealer for the ignition recall, and while there i had them run diagnostic test on my airbag system at the cost of 113 dollars. it had code b0081 ( passenger present module failure). this i expected from reading all the other complaints that have been filed. i have read complaints on other saturn forums, where some people have had this problem repaired at their own expense (1000 dollars), just to have it return in less than a year. i don�t think the public should have to pay such an expense for a safty problem that should be handled as a safety recall. there has been several complaints filed on this same problem.

when taking my car in for ignition recall repairs i noticed that my air bag light came on. gm customer service told me that when the new ignition switch was installed the error would clear itself. it did not, and when i brought this to the gm dealership service desk they denied that there was any linkage between the airbag operation and the ignition switch despite the description in their own recall notice warning that the airbag might not inflate if the original switch was faulty. gm is attempting to avoid the cost of a new airbag made ineffective by their own faulty ignition switch. i went to the gm dealer to have my car made safe and was directed to leave the dealership with an unsafe car, without a working airbag. this should be addressed by the nhtsa and make gm insure that all safety systems are working properly after recall repairs are completed!

had my ignition switch replaced for a recall on 7/3/14. on july 25th i had my first passenger since the ignition switch work enter the vehicle. as soon as the person seated themselves on the passenger seat i received a warning on the information center of the car stating 'service airbag soon' and the airbag indicator showed that the airbag was 'off' even though someone was seated there. this was not a 'one time incident, and has not resolved itself and continues to be this way. after some research, i found this is not an isolated incident on this model and year. this is a safety concern and should be a recall from the manufacturer (general motors) to replace the faulty parts instead of charging me and the numerous others with the same issue upwards of one thousand dollars to repair this.
