Safety Issue:

Polaris Industries Inc. (Polaris) is recalling certain 2020 Slingshot GT, 2021-2023 Slingshot S, Slingshot S Tech, 2020-2023 Slingshot R, Slingshot SL, and 2022-2023 Slingshot SLR vehicles updated with Ride Command Software. After shifting out of reverse, the rearview camera image may freeze and display a blank screen if shifted into reverse again. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Potential Risk:
The loss of the rearview camera image while in reverse can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the Ride Command software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2023. Owners may contact Polaris' customer service at 1-855-863-2284. Polaris' number for this recall is T-23-03.

Safety Issue:

Polaris Inc. (Polaris) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Slingshot R, Slingshot S with Technology Package 1, Slingshot SL, Slingshot SLR, and Slingshot S motorcycles. The alternator may have been improperly heat-treated during manufacturing.

Potential Risk:
An improperly heat-treated alternator may crack and separate during operation, increasing the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the alternator, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 8, 2023. Owners may contact Polaris' customer service at 1-855-863-2284. Polaris' number for this recall is T-23-01.

Defect Description:

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2023 Polaris Slingshot S. The contact stated that after the vehicle was parked and unoccupied, the vehicle independently rolled forward causing the front of the vehicle to crash into the rear end of another unoccupied parked vehicle twice in the same day. No injuries were sustained no medical attention and no police were filed. The contact was notified of the crash and arrived on the scene and the vehicle was still in park position. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed by his insurance company to call the NHTSA hotline to file a complaint. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
