Safety Issue:

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Peterbilt 520, 579, and 2021-2025 Kenworth T680 trucks. The high voltage (HV) contactors may open, causing a sudden loss of high voltage and a loss of drive power.

Potential Risk:
A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the software and replace the electrical harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 13, 2025. Safety Issue:

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Peterbilt and Kenworth vehicles, equipped with Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECU). Please see the recall report for a complete list of models. Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop functioning.

Potential Risk:
Safety systems that depend on the ECU (Automatic Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and Collison Mitigation System) may not function properly or at all, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:

Safety Issue:

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Peterbilt 365, 367, 389, 535, 536, 537, 548, 567, 579, and 2021-2025 Kenworth T180, T280, T380, T480, T680, T880 and W990 trucks. The right-hand gear shifter stalk connectors may have been improperly crimped, resulting in a loss of communication.

Potential Risk:
A loss of communication between the gear shifter and the transmission may result in the vehicle becoming disabled after coming to a stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will inspect and replace the gear shifter assembly as necessary, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed April 24, 2024. A second notice will be mailed once the final remedy is available December 15, 2025, then phased after that. PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Peterbilt 579 and 567 trucks. The U-bolts that attach the air tank to the chassis may contact the fuel tank and over time, wear a hole in the tank.

Potential Risk:
A punctured fuel tank can leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:

Safety Issue:

PACCAR, Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Peterbilt 579 vehicles equipped with MX-13 engines and 160-amp alternators. A fastener on the front spring bracket may have been installed with the head on the outside of the frame rail, which can chafe and damage the alternator positive cable.

Potential Risk:
A damaged alternator cable increases the risk of a fire.

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Peterbilt 579 and 2023 Kenworth T680 vehicles. Incorrect software in the battery electric heavy duty electronic stability control program may underestimate the mass of the vehicle. As such, these vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 136, "Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles."

Potential Risk:
An incorrect estimate of the vehicle mass can reduce the performance of the stability control system and increase the risk of a crash.

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Peterbilt 579 vehicles. The molded hood mirror assemblies may break at the pivot joint and, if unsecured by a harness or tether, can fall into the roadway.

Potential Risk:
A molded hood mirror that falls into the roadway can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Kenworth T680, T880, W990, and Peterbilt 365, 367, 389, 567, and 579 vehicles. The digital display may freeze and not display critical safety information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Control and Displays" and 102, "Trans Shift Lever Seq/Starter Interlock/Trans Braking Effect."

Potential Risk:
The loss of display information, such as vehicle speed and warning lights, can increase the risk of a crash.

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022 Peterbilt 579 vehicles equipped with chassis fairings. The bolts that hold the chassis fairing step assembly in the closed position may loosen and fracture the latch attachment, causing the fairing assembly to flex.

Potential Risk:
A partially unsecured cab step can unexpectedly move while entering or exiting the cab, increasing the risk of injury.

PACCAR, Inc. (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Peterbilt 367, 389, 567, and 579 vehicles. The cross member mounted Hill Start Assist valve assembly may have insufficient clearance to the rear axle, causing damage to the rear brake hose and loss of the rear brake signal.

Potential Risk:
If loss of the rear brake signal occurs, the vehicle could experience reduced rear braking capability or loss of brakes to the rear axle(s), increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect for clearance and re-work the assembly to conform with an updated design, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on September 24, 2021. Safety Issue:

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Kenworth T680, T880, W990, T800, W900 and Peterbilt 579, 567, 389, 367 vehicles equipped with a Cummins X15 engine. The capscrews that attach the flywheel to the crankshaft may have been improperly torqued, allowing the flywheel to detach.

Potential Risk:
A detached flywheel can cause loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, driveline pieces may be ejected from the engine compartment, increasing the risk of injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
PACCAR will notify owners, and dealers will properly torque the capscrews and the engine will also be inspected for damage and, if necessary, repaired, free of charge. POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2022 Peterbilt Conventional 579. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission independently shifted to neutral. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was turned off and restarted, and the vehicle was independently reset. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the contact was informed that a software update was ordered by the manufacturer. The software update was performed; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact was informed that there was no fix for the failure because the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the dealer was instructed to perform the software update again. The failure mileage was approximately 540,000.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2022 Peterbilt 579. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle downshifted with multiple warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure recurred. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V190000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the gear shifter assembly had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed by the dealer that the parts were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 220,536. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT MY TRUCK ISSUE . I BOUGHT THE TRUCK PETERBILT 579 2022 FROM GOLDEN STATE PETERBILT FRESNO CA ON 03/03/2021. WHEN I DROVE THE TRUCK I REALIZED IT WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT. I IMMEDIATELY INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I DROVE THE TRUCK ABOUT 200 MILES TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK, SO I LEFT THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 03/04/21 TO FIX IT. THE COMPANY HAS CLAIMED TO HAVE REPAIRED THE TRUCK THREE TIMES SINCE THEN BUT THE TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE TRUCK STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT AND IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE ON THE ROAD .AFTER ABOUT 21 DAYS, THE COMPANY HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE TRUCK OR FIND A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THIS BEHAVIOR OF THE COMPANY IS CAUSING ME HUGE LOSSES IN MY BUSINESS.MY BROTHER DROVE ANOTHER DEALERSHIP ANOTHER BRAND NEW TRUCK WHICH IS PULL RIGHT SIDE AS WELL BUT NOT LIKE MY TRUCK .
