ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

on this date i was driving down interstate and my air conditioner stopped cooling. i took it to the local nissan place and they said something "jumped" up from the road and put a hole in my a/c condenser. my insurance agent has never heard of this before after the nissan place told me to claim it on my insurance. they stated that nissan was just trying to get out of my warranty covering this. i have had the nissan juke 2011 for only 2 months.

tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan juke. the contact was driving 15 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the air flow meter became unattached from the tube assembly inlet, causing the failure. as a result, the tube assembly inlet would need replacing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 5,697 and current mileage was 7,200.

FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER

vehicle involved: 2011 nissan juke sl and has 4,192 miles on the odometer. while driving down the highway, we ran over some debris which punctured the gas tank, causing all of the gas to begin pouring out of the tank. we had just filled up the 11.8 gallon fuel tank and had no idea the fuel was leaking until we pulled into the driveway approx. five miles later. we called the fire dept. for fear of the car exploding in the driveway. the firefighters were shocked there was nothing protecting the fuel tank from road debris bouncing up and punching a hole into it. i feel this is a manufacturers defect. the gas tank shouldn't be sitting out so exposed. nissan had a similar problem with the murano for which they ordered a safety recall to address this problem. they should do the same with the juke. the local dealership and nissan corporation has shown not a care for what happened to my wife and i, claiming it's not their fault we ran over something in the road. the reality is some things are unavoidable to run over and the gas tank shouldn't be so easily ruptured and positioned with no type of protective plate in the way. the repair bill was $863.04 to put in a new gas tank. my wife is now terrified of driving the car for fear of being blown up and wants to get rid of it.

SUSPENSION

tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan juke. the contact was driving 30 mph when a loud pop emitted from underneath the front of the vehicle and the vehicle bounced off of a curb. the failure caused the vehicle to come to a complete stop. the vehicle was towed to the dealer who confirmed the passenger side ball joints were detached from the frame. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 1,000.

TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS

i have brought my 2011 nissan juke to the dealer several times because the tire pressure monitor does not work properly. the light comes on and goes off frequently without a problem. i have brought the car in with the light on and no problem could be found so they would reset the light. many people on the internet have the same problem, there is a service bulletin for the problem yet the dealer refuses to correct the problem. today i made the dealer aware of the service bulletin (they said that they didn't know about it) they said that my vin is not part of the bulletin yet i have the identical problem. i called nissan, they agreed with the dealer and said unless the dealer could find a defect there is nothing that they could do. today i actually did have a nail in my tire and thankfully i was at the dealer for another recall. i have grown so used to seeing the light on i now ignore it. my fear is that i will again ignore a problem and it could cause a serious accident.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

i scheduled a service appointment with the dealership for a recall: nhtsa campaign id no. 11v583000. when i arrived for my appointment, i was told by the service manager that nissan had "put a restriction" on the part and they could not get it. they said they would contact me when they were able to get the part. i asked what a "restriction" on a part means and they said nissan would not send them the part either because there was a shortage of parts or because they were trying to "distribute them evenly." i asked what happens if i experience an engine failure and she had no response.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

on 2/1/12 my daughter noticed a strong odor of fuel coming from the interior of the vehicle. i had the vehicle towed to the dealership for safety reasons. the service manager found a severe leak "that was pouring fuel into the engine compartment" whenever the vehicle was running. the leak was at the fuel pressure regulator. i did some research on the internet and realized that this is a very common problem and has happened to many juke owners. my 18 year old daughter could have died in a vehicle fire! i hope it doesn't require several people to die before a recall is issued. this is a very dangerous situation and nissan should be aware of it due to all of the service claims.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

took vehicle in for service 3/30/12 and was informed that there was a recall on the vehicle concerning the fuel pressure sensor connection. the dealer told me it would take at least 2 hours to repair and i was unable to stay that day. at this point i was not informed that a part needed to be ordered in order for them to satisfy the recall. this is clearly stated by the dealer on invoice 105444. just wondering why the part was not ordered at that time. so i had to go out of town and the dealership informed that i could go to any nissan dealer to have this done, still not telling me a part needed to be ordered. so when i was able to schedule a time to have the recall taken care of i did just that. i also had received via u.s. mail the recall notification. the recall number is 12v-069. i went to the nissan dealer on my pre-scheduled appointment and it was at that time i was informed that a part needed to be ordered and they did not have it in stock. (still not sure why they would not order the part then and there.) so one wasted trip to the dealership. oh by the way they called me twice and sent an email to confirm the appointment. so yesterday i scheduled another appointment with the dealer to take care of this recall. so when i show up today at the dealership they still have not ordered the part. i asked if they could overnight the part and they said they could not and it would take 2 business days to get the part. unfortunately, i am scheduled to go out of town on business for the next month or so and i was taking the car that has the recall. so now i have wasted 2 trips to the dealership (30 mile drive) and still do not have the car fixed. i am very unhappy with this process and i think that nissan should offer some sort of compensation for my time and gas. at this point i don't know what to do next. can you please advise.

VISIBILITY/WIPER

this has nothing to do with the wipers - all visibility - purchased car new 10/22/2011 - but it was around 10/28/2011 that i noticed scratches in windshield and driver side window - yes it is bad enough that when the sun hits the areas in the right spot it is blinding. dealership has continually given me the run around. please if your see my vin was involved in an accident - head on - driver side impact - please make sure the windshield and driver side window are looked at thoroughly. i have sent this request to my father as well. you will also be receiving a copy of the letter that is being to sent to nissan corp office and nj better business bureau. vehicle was purchased this way, scratches where not noticeable at time of pick up, and at this time since my iou or we owe you shows that there is nothing mentioned about this - reported issue to dealer back 11/11 - had service manager and sales person look at issues and as of today still chasing me tail. this was also mentioned at first oil change, oil change, recall, tire rotation visit, took car to dealer today to speak with new general manager so today would make 6th time i have asked to come sort of resolution - i was told to report to my insurance - and they would split my deductible with me to repair - replace. really - safelite has already looked at - and had written letter an estimate - no one even took the time to look at. sad ... but hey again if you see my vin involved in a head on or driver side impacted accident - please make sure windshield and driver side window are thoroughly looked at. thank you for your help and time !

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

as i was coming to a stop at the approaching red light, my car completely cut off. it was not enough time to turn on hazards or signal any approaching cars so the car causing the car behind me to hit into the back of my bumper. the hit caused something to fall off the top of their car and make a small crack onto my driver tail light. the car stopped because it was completely out of gas, even though the gas meter read that there was more than a quarter tank of gas in the car. there was a recall on my vehicle for the fuel system not reading correctly, which i had my car taken into the nissan dealership in july, where they spent 3 hours "correcting" the problem. however, the problem was not fixed correctly as having no gas in the car (even though the meter said i had gas) caused my car to stop in the middle of a busy street, which in turn caused my daughter and myself to become involved in a car accident.

ENGINE

my car has engine failure at 2 years old and 72k miles. i initially took my car to nissan at the fate and mileage listed above for a rattle in the engine area. was told it needed a new drive belt and tensioner. this was a misdiagnosis. the rattle gets worse, drive performance declines, rake the car back to nissan on 8/27. compression test reveals two cylinders at or below minimum specifications. i was told that i need a new engine. my own research has reveals several consumer complaints about the timing chain in the 2011 juke. many folks all over the internet are reporting that at approximately the same mileage as me, their car starts to rattle and when they take it in, they are told they need a new engine. most point to the timing chain. my service guy was reluctant to blame the timing chain and would say only that "sludge" was probably the culprit. it isn't. i really hope this issue is being monitored. it seems many people are hoping for a recall soon. *tt

i took my car in to a local nissan dealership for a recall on a fuel sensor and gasket(s) and i had a rattling noise i asked them to look into while they had the car. they informed me that the timing chain was loose and needed to be replaced at $2100. the car has lost half of its value in less then 2 years of owning it and i didn't even buy it brand new (had less the 7,000 miles on it). i have gone back and forth with a manager at nissanusa who is offering to help out with paying $400 of the bill. i have seen where this is a common problem with the 2011 juke and really needs to be a recall. nissan has paid for new engines when the chain broke, leaving people stranded. they pay for a new engine (not the labor) with a 1 year /12,000 mile warranty, but will not put out a recall on the timing chain! i called and got an estimate for the repair from a different nissan dealership who quoted me quite a bit less then the $2100 and i asked if nissan was willing to give the $400 towards the repair at that location and they refused. i now have oil spewing all over from a cracked timing chain cover. the car is not drivable and i do not have $2100 plus the cost of a new cover now, especially when i'm upside down by $5,000. this truly is the worst car ever.

i was driving out of my neighborhood as usual when my car suddenly lost power going uphill at 25 mph. i had the vehicle towed to the dealership a week later and they said the engine had to be replaced because of a timing chain failure. at first i thought it might have been a strange incident since there weren't many other jukes with the mileage i had on mine. i was barely 2 years into my car loan and already had to dish out $7k for a new engine. i opted out of having the car repaired so last year and had to buy another car for work. i had a 4 year loan on the car and half of that period the car will have been the car sitting dead in the garage.

my juke began to have a ticking/clicking sound in the motor which sounded worse with acceleration. i took it to a dealer and they first told me it was the exhaust, then later told me it is timing chain and damage to motor done which would require replacement motor but approval from a district manager was needed prior to proceeding on the warranty work. although still under warranty and able to show receipts for service dates, they told me they may void my warranty for not having a nissan brand oil filter on the juke. i called to check ion my engine replacement the next day and was told they were waiting on parts and that the tensioner broke off and the timing chain was rubbing the motor but they will replace worn parts instead of entire motor and that the rubbing on the motor would not alter the functioning of the motor. one week later, still waiting on my car and paying for a daily rental. this is my 8th nissan owned. and the second to have engine problems (2006 altima with blown engine at 147,000 miles). purchased juke october 2010 and it is driven only by myself and at speeds less than 65mph most days. there is an obvious flaw in the design of these timing chains and components which hold it all together. still owe 11,000 on my juke and am worried about the future reliability and safety for my travels in it.

ENGINE

my 2011 nissan juke has 28,000 miles on it. about two weeks ago i start to hear this rattle noise coming from my engine. i make an appt to find out about this noise and for my state inspection to be done. well, a few days before my appt my juke completely stalled on me while driving around 40-45mph on a busy two lane road. i almost got rear-ended but luckily they stopped just in time. i didn't have any warning lights come on at all. it just stopped! i get it towed to my dealership and find out i need a brand new engine ($9,050) because my timing chain broke and ripped my engine apart. i go online and find out that nissan has a class action lawsuit against them right now for timing chain issues, but they refuse to issue a recall. even more research is done and i'm beyond mad at this point. now nissan tells me that they won't cover it with my 5yr/60,000 mile powertrain warranty because i can't produce 8-9 service records of oil changes and "sludge" is what broke my engine at 28,000. just doing some math, for me to even have 8-9 service records means i would have needed to change my oil (at the dealership they said) about every 3 months!!!! so now i'm stuck with a 2011 piece of junk and they want me to pay over $9,000 even though they are well aware of the timing chain issue and it was the faulty timing chain that broke and ripped apart my engine. but because i can't provide 8-9 service records (which is crazy) they get off scott-free! i've been ripped off completely and sold a lemon. this is so unfair!!!! i will be joining that class action lawsuit!

ENGINE

my car developed a ticking sound, upon research and having a mechanic looked at it, the timing chain needs to be replace, being that this car was purchased brand new only 3 years, it should not already developed such a major issue. if the timing chain snaps the car will shut off most likely require a engine replacement. this is especially dangerous in highways and roads while driving.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

i have a 2011 nissan juke ( purchased brand new) when driving home from work the car started to idle weird and then just died in the middle of the road. thank god i wasn't hit by anyone or in a major accident. towed it a to nissan dealership where there told me the timing chain belt broke and had to be replaced. the dealership called me the next morning stating that nissan was aware of the timing chain issue and that they were issuing a recall for this very problem, so there would be no cost to me. after a week of my car being at the nissan dealership, they called and said the car was repaired and good to go! i picked the car up and attempted to drive home but never made it out of the parking lot! juke did the same exact thing it did when i originally had it towed in! the juke went back into the shop that night. next morning the service manager from nissan calls to tell me that due to the timing chain issue metal shaving have now gotten into my engine causing damage to the point that the entire engine has to be replaced! since it was due to the recall, it will be of no cost to me...however nissan cannot guarantee that the new engine won't have the same issues?!!? are you kidding me? and this is not the first issue with this juke! first month i had it the entire rear differential had to be replaced! i also had to replace the alternator after it failed.....plus numerous battery issues, and the car is less than 3 years old! after further research i found out there is a class action law suit against nissan right now as they were aware of these issues and did nothing about it! how is that possible? or legal? come on, nissan! get it together. safety should be your #1 priority....but apparently concealing potentially life threatening recalls is more important. to say the least, i will never, ever, buy another nissan, and neither should you or anyone you care about.

timing chain blew while i was driving which is currently a service campaign issued by nissan. it also blew the engine because it happened while i was driving. while they are willing to pay for the repairs to the engine simply because it falls under the warranty (not because their faulty part blew the engine) they are not willing to pay for my rental or give me a loaner. they also are not giving me an end date. so their issue is costing me $60 a day. i'm already up to $600 in rental charges with no end date in sight. nissan also hasn't followed up with me to tell me when the issue will be rectified. it is undriveable and sitting at bertera nissan in auburn, ma. help!
