i bought the 2008 mitsubishi lancer es a few weeks ago. every time i back out of the driveway the front end of the car 'bottoms out" and scrapes along the pavement. i brought the car back to mark mitsubishi. they checked out my car and although they admitted that the underside of the front of the car was scraped up the service advisor said everything "spec'd" out just like the other new cars on the lot. i asked if the more expensive versions of the 2008 lancer had a ?beefed up? suspension and was told; ? no all 2008 lancer?s had the same suspension.? i have since learned, from a review of the car on auto mall usa that the gts model has ?firmer coil springs, shock absorbers and bushings and larger stabilizer bars than the de and es models.? i took the service manager, nathan boisvert, for a test drive and backing out of any nearby driveway, even at 1 mile per hour the car "bottomed out" as the front tires rolled over the very small gutter that is common in residential neighborhoods in arizona. he said there was nothing the dealer could do other than report this to mitsubishi since they did not have any "tech bulletins" on this issue. rather than admit this was a design defect he told me this was a "characteristic" of the car. he suggested i turn the wheel and back out at a 45% angle so only one wheel at a time would go over the gutter and thereby avoid "bottoming out." i called mitsubishi customer assistance and opened a case [# 1-221800146]. they called me back a day later and told me there was nothing wrong with my car and they would not do anything. in the meantime i checked with nathan and he took another new 2008 mitsubishi lancer from the lot and it does the same thing. all i wanted was to have it fixed. from my viewpoint it is obvious that the suspension is not stiff enough. i would think that mitsubishi would want to get in front of this and fix the problem before it becomes a major recall but apparently they have there heads in the sand. *jb

tl*the contact owns a 2008 mitsubishi lancer. the contact attempted to replace the tail light assembly according to the owner's manual. he noticed that the manual provided incomplete and inaccurate information on how to replace the tail light assembly. he notified the manufacturer and they stated that he needed to take his vehicle to the dealer to have the bulb replaced. there had been no failure to date. the current mileage was 287.

i purchased a brand new 2008 mitsubishi lancer in april 2007. after only owning the car for 2 weeks it wouldn't start. i brought it to the dealership and where it was tested and examined. all test came back perfect. from then on the car would intermittently not start. i took the car back to the dealership every time this occurred. it was in the shop 6 times and for a total of about 3 1/2 weeks. the problem could never be detected and there for never fixed. i filed a claim with mitsubishi and the car was finally deemed a lemon. i received another brand new 2008 mitsubishi lancer in october 2007. now after having this car for about 2 weeks, the problem is re-occurring!! it just won't start. there has to be more 2008 mitsubishi lancer owners out there that have experienced this same problem. what are the odds that i have purchased the only two brand new cars that are lemons!!!! *jb

in relation to the mitsubishi lanser 2008, with slat of puerto rico gzn-191 and acquired in the motive dealer berrios corp. de humacao, in may, 2007. this vehicle a noise presents in the transmission for what was led to guarantee, today on october 24, 2007 to the dealer before mentioned, here it was inspected by the ing. mr.. filomeno ramos lopez lic. * 2224. who determines that has to stoop the transmission of the vehicle to be repaired. for what in this letter i am expressing my opinion, while to that we do not agree in the decision thought by the ing., in her(it) of repairing the transmission of the vehicle. since of our part one was done sacrifice to obtain a new vehicle, in where no type was had of mechanical difficulties.

there is a oil leak coming out of the crank pulley, did quick research found out i wasn't the only one. there was a oil ring around the pulley where it goes into the engine and it needs to be a free fix or recall i don't care but why would i want to keep a car that has this problem. i also bought a new pulley for the car and checked on it 6 months later and the ring was there also.

tl*the contact owns a 2008 mitsubishi lancer. in rainy weather conditions, the contact noticed water entering the vehicle through the driver side cabin. also, the tires have premature tread wear. he took the vehicle to the dealer and a technician replaced all four tires and performed a wheel alignment. several months later, the tire tread displayed abnormal wear again. he took the vehicle back to the dealer and was informed that they would have to realign the tires and replace all four again. the vehicle has not been repaired because the dealer cannot identify the cause of the failures. the failure mileage was 7,500 and current mileage was 19,000.

the car pulls to the left very strongly, and have had the car at the dealership 3-4 times to have them try and fix it with no avail. they aligned it and rotated the tires, but this fixed nothing. i stressed my concern with this that the tires would wear out fast since it isn't aligned right, and now, at 4300 miles, all four tires are worn out bad, feathered on the outside, and inside is almost down to 2/32nds, and the dealership i bought the car from refuses to do anything about it. i filed a claim with mitusbishi themselves, and after reviewing the case, said the car is fine, and all four tires have even wear and they closed the case, even though all the tires are worn out different, some worse than others, and the car still pulls to the left.

2008 mitsubishi lancer evolution x gsr the car has a projected mpg per tank of 280. i have had the car from mile 4 on the odometer & have never gotten over 195 mi per tank. i contacted anaheim mitsubishi where i purchased by vehicle & they knew nothing of the issue & could not assist but only told me after i had gone there 2 times for assistance/correction on the issue. i then took the car to south coast mitsubishi & they knew of the issue & stated that there was an ecu flash that would correct the air/fuel ratio &a few other issues. at the time i took it in for what i thought was rubbing & that issue was fixed but i am still having issues with the car consuming so much fuel. i have resorted to less driving, until someone can actually prove to me the ecu has been flashed or until mitsubishi actually fixes this issue for real.

2008 lancer pulls to the left. a bit more noticeable at higher speeds. aggressive pull to the left. took to the dealership to take a look at it. they did nothing. i called again and they said they heard nothing of this problem despite many many people having this same issue.

when i first got the car on my way home i notice that the car is pulling to the left. i then took my car to the dealer and they told my that the air in my left tire is low on air. the dealer try to fix this issue with not help. i then had an alignment done but that didn't help either. now my tire is wearing out uneven and the mitsubishi won't do anything for my car to have this problem fix.

my son was attempting to stop at a red light when the brakes started to pulse uncontrollably, and the brake pedal when down to the floor. also the abs light lit up. unfortunately he could not stop in time and he hit the car in front of him. three weeks later after the car was repaired, i went to go start the car and the car would not go into gear, the instrument panel lit up and some of my electric stop working. i had the car towed to the dealer. after two days of diagnostics they said there was a problem with a wiring harness due to the accident. i tried to explain to the dealer that the abs was the reason we had the accident in the first place and that was when the electrical problem started. there was a bill for $423 that we had to pay because the dealer insisted the problem was due to the accident. i will be in touch with mitsubishi to see if this can be rectified. also i do hope someone will investigate this electrical problem. it was very unnerving to hit the brakes and the car would not stop.

my husband and i both purchased 2008 mitsubishi lancer gts. two vehicles within 3 weeks of each other in october. chad's care has 13,000 miles mine 15,000 miles. both cars need new tires. the front tires are down to the thread on both cars. the back tires on mine are passes wear lines. chad's tires in the back are a little bit better. of course when calling the local dealership which is 45-60 minutes away from my house they informed me that there was nothing they could do for me. surprise ! what do i do now and where else can i turn? please help! email us if you have any ideas.

i have had an 08 mitsubishi lancer gts for a year now and have had serious problems with the car pulling left since the very first week i owned it. i've had the car aligned 5 times now and no success. the car will drive fine for less than a week and it starts to pull left again, sometimes driving off the lot after an alignment, it would still not be corrected. my tires are wearing unevenly on the outside edges as well, and are now the tires are worn down to the tread indicators. i need new tires but don't want to waste the money without a solution to this problem first.

my lancer will decelerate while driving. i took the car to the dealership and they said there was a problem with the computer program and that some of their cars, just coming off the trucks had the same problem. they reflashed the computer, this fixed the problem for about 3 months. i was driving the car yesterday when all of a sudden the car started to decelerate. i had the gas pedal to the floor and was going only 20 mph. i called the dealership and they said to flash it again and that would fix the problem. if that does not work we will have to replace the throttle body at $750.00.

my car, mitsubishi lancer gts model 2008 is pulling to the side. i got this car new, it was pulling to the left from the beginning. after they did an alignment, the car is pulling to the right. the amount of pulling is very big, for example if, at 60-65mph i release the steering wheel it rotates right instantly with a half a inch, and the car changes the lane to the right in 3-4 seconds. i don't know if the car or the tires are wrong, but this is very serioos safety concern for me. i've search on the internet for people with similar issue, and found out that most of the people with mitsubishi lancer gts have this problem. so i believe mitsubishi knows about this problem but just don't want to admit it. please see this link (15 pages): http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=293784 . thanks a lot and please contact me if you need additional information.

tl*the contact owns a 2008 mitsubishi lancer. whenever the brake pedal is depressed, the contact hears a loud scrubbing sound coming from the rotors. when the vehicle is turned right or left, the front end of the vehicle makes a popping sound. the first time the vehicle was taken to the dealer they replaced the front driver's side wheel bearing due to a recall. the second time the vehicle was taken to the dealer regarding the front passenger side wheel bearing. on the third visit, the front passenger side wheel bearing was replaced and both front rotors were turned. the vehicle has been taken to the dealer approximately three times regarding this failure and it is gradually becoming worse. the nhtsa campaign id number was unknown. the current mileage was 7,333 and failure mileage was 6,800. updated 10/14/08. *lj updated 10/16/08. *jb

paint on the sides of the car has thousands of rock chips at only 9000 miles. the car has never been driven through gravel and has not been subjected to extreme road conditions. i first noticed the damage occurring at about 5000 miles and took it to the dealer. the dealer stated that he agreed that it shouldn't be happening and thought it was a defect in the paint. they contacted mitsu usa and were told that they would not reimburse for any corrective action. further investigation has revealed that this is a very common problem with the gts models and is due to a design flaw. because the car is wider at the rear than the front and no rock deflectors were incorporated into the design, the rear of the car is literally getting sand blasted by the front tires. the only recourse i was offered was to have the car repainted at my own expense with no guarantee that it would not reoccur. mitsubishi needs to take ownership of this problem, repair the damaged areas and install rock deflectors at no cost to the consumer.

i have had several problems of which i have had my car in to the mitsubishi dealer to check out to find out that they could find out nothing. the brakes gave out once and i had to use my emergency brake to stop. thank god i did not hit anyone. they seemed to work afterwards. the car would not start and this would happen several time a week. i had the car checked out thoroughly and of course they found nothing out. now i am dealing with a thumping noise when i am at a complete stop and i go to take off. this noise has been there since the first day i bought the car. it seems to only be heard when at a complete stop and you go to take off. also the heater fan clicks off and on randomly. i never had this or heard this loud clicking on and off fan noise when i had a 2004 lancer. i also had it check out and again they tell me that is normal. i do not think so.

i have a complaint about the mitsubishi motors i bought my car two years ago in 2007 and the car is a 2008 mitsubishi lance and right now the car saying there is something wrong with the tire pressure system. the car consumes alot of gas for example yesterday i put ten dollars in the afternoon and in the night i didn't have any gas. the dealer was very rude because its not the first time this incident has happened. last year the tire pressure monitoring had a defect and they fixed it because i called my bank and told them don't send the car payment through. and they will give a number to contact some principal mitsibishi where they are very rude to me because i have a heavy accent and can't speak english very well. if i get the care fixed it will cost me like 350-400 to fix it thanks thanks a lot.

i was driving the car to my desired destination when all of a sudden the car started to smell like something was burning. when the passenger when to check, while we where waiting for the light to change, she noticed that fire was coming from under the hood. all we could do was get out of the car and take the kids out when the fire started to get bigger. a man who was near the place help controlling the fire with some extinguishers until the firemen arrived. when the firemen arrived at the scene, and manage to control the fire, they declared the car to be total lost.

hi my name is fernando santiago and the reason i'm writing this email is because i'm an owner of a 2008 mitsubishi lancer that i lease on april of 2007. now the problem is that i was driving the other day and my side airbags on my driver side deployed for no apparent reason i could of killed myself or cause a major accident. i took the car to the dealer and services said that they need to get the car checked out i explain to them that i didn't crash the car i was just driving but i guess they don't believe me when there's no damages to the body of the car. now they come back and tell me that mitsubishi is not going to fix the damages and for me to contact my car insurance and make a report so they can fix the problem b/c the warranty is not responsible for what happened and they not giving me a loaner car. i been a loyal customer with this company my 1st car was a galant i think they should take into consideration that i'm leasing a car with this company and help me out by getting my car fix at no cost. this is a safety issue is not like i cause the damages if it was up to me i wouldn't even want this car back no more b/c i have kids and is not a very safe ride. so what i'm asking here if that if mitsubishi want to keep me as a loyal customer and keep having me leasing cars from their dealer i would appreciate if they go out their way just how they do when they selling a car and help me out here, i'm loosing work hours and my kids are loosened days of work b/c i don't have a car to get back and fourth. i look forward to hear from you.

i took my car to veracom mitsubishi san mateo c.a. where i purchased my 2008 mitsubishi gts for the recall id # 09v077000 - service brakes, air:supply:check valve - , they denied the recalled and services on my vehicle and check there computer systems and showed me there was no recalled for this car and problems. i check the web site and nhtsa.gov that there is a recall for this problem. i am worry about the faulty parts and unsure where i can get help and to get it repaired. today is saturday and i have to drive very late to pick up my son from babysitter at night, i am concerned about the safety of my car and driving my car during the rain storm. vehicle: 2008 mitsubishi lancer gts.

the very first application of the brakes upon starting exhibits increased stopping distance during parking lot maneuvers. subsequent applications of the brake reveal full pedal force and normal stopping distance. vehicle exhibits the same symptoms of recall 09v077000 but is outside the scope of the recall.

2008 mitsubishi lancer. consumer writes in regards to throttle body problems and other failure issues with vehicle. *smd the consumer stated the vehicle broke down and had to be towed to the dealer. they dealer cleaned the map sensor and throttle body and charged the consumer. the consumer stated the vehicle was still under warranty, and he shouldn't have been charged. mitsubishi stated the consumer would not have to pay for the cleaning, but he would have to pay for the towing charges. the consumer then learned from the dealer, the map sensor problem was a manufacturing defect. the consumer stated he experienced the problem on two other occasion, where the dealer had to send a mechanic out, to clean the map sensor because the vehicle had broke down and would not start. the consumer stated the problem has become worse, where the engine light stayed on 98% of the time and it would take 4-5 times before the vehicle would stop cutting off.

on wednesday morning 4/24/2013 after night shift i went outside to start my car 5-10 minutes early just like any other time prior to driving. i put my car in gear to pull away and a service signal went off stating "maintnence required" with a depiction of a transaxel and the front suspension in "motion". i then put the car in neutral and applied the emergency break to inspect. the awc function would not work, "tarmac" to "gravel" to "snow". the next day i brought my vehicle to d'ambrosio mitsubishi for their technicians to look at it and repair it. they did the usual maintnence oil change, fluid check, tire rotation etc like i have done ever 2500 miles. the technicians discovered the s-awc pump had seized up and that the pump needed to be replaced; he stated it would cost $2500.00 to replace, i asked what i had done to cause such a catastrophic event; the service manager advised me that it was a flaw caused by mitsubishi and there was nothing i had done or did not do to cause this. i then left and have no idea what i'm going to do now that i have a front wheel drive car that is meant to be a full time all wheel drive car, now its sitting under a tarp and i take the bus or get a ride.

estaba en la autopista y me prendi� la luz del abs y el autom�vil se sent�a aguantado cuando me toc� frenar el autom�vil de momento no fren� bien. despu�s proced� a llamar al servicio de remolque de la mitsubishi y buscaron el carro a mi casa. el 01/14/2010 el dealer le encontr� falla en sensor y se lo reemplazaron. (mn116244 sensor, rr abs,rh). pero en el 2011 volvi� prendi� la luz del abs se le hizo el cambio de las pastilla de freno y se limpiaron todos los sensor y la luz se apag�. ahora en el 10/14/2013 volvi� a encender la luz del abs pero cuando corres para atr�s se apaga y cuando conduce hacia el frente se queda prendida. mi opini�n es que estos sensores se da�an demasiado de r�pido "constantemente, salieron defectuoso" el mileage del carro ahora mismo es 33616. gracias por su tiempo.

AIR BAGS

i lost control of my vehicle due to snow and slush off a tractor trailer hitting the back end of my car. the tractor trailer was going about 80mph past me as i was going only 60mph, due to my car being front wheel drive it caused me to spin out and lose control of the car. i crossed into the left lane of traffic (not hitting anyone) and then back into the right lane where i then proceeded to go off the road down an embankment. i bashed my head against the driver side window as i lost control, i then hit my head again against the window as the rear end of my car hit a tree stomp. through hitting the tree stomp it caused my passenger side airbags to deploy but not the driver side, side airbags. due to the driver side, side airbags not deploying as i hit the tree stomp my head smacked against the driver window extremely hard and caused me to get a concussion.

POWER TRAIN

while coming of the off-ramp, the vehicle lost pressure in the clutch pedal. upon further investigation, there was fluid leaking from the clutch master cylinder. it has been noted that clutch master cylinder in 2008 mitsubishi lancer es (base model) is the same as one being recalled in 2008-2013 mitsubishi lancer evolution x. this is a second time the clutch master cylinder has failed and needs to be replaced. i would like for mitsubishi corp. to look into the recalling base models for this issue as they have in the following sr-13-009. failure of the clutch master cylinder reduces the ability to shift the vehicle into or out of gear, increasing the risk of a crash.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR

abs light came on... took to firestone since it was closest to college....they replaced my front brakes....a few weeks later the light came back on and would do this frequently so i took it back to firestone and they informed me that the diagnostic was the left front speed sensor was defective....i called mitsubishi and spoke to several customer service personnel and was told there was nothing they could or would do.... i asked if there were other complaints about this part since it was only the left side that went bad not both and they said they did not have that information.... i am not happy... the repair is over $500 and my concern is driving on wet roads and the brakes failing. status update 07/31/14
