AT THIS POINT, THE CAR WILL LOSE THE ABILITY TO SHIFT TO 2, 4, OR 6 GEAR MAKING NORMAL CITY/HIGHWAY DRIVING VERY HAZARDOUS. WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE CAR WILL DOWNSHIFT FROM 5TH TO 3RD AND THEN TO 1ST PUTTING TONS OF PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES INSTEAD OF DECELERATING THE CAR GRADUALLY. THE CAR ACTUALLY HESITATES AT THIS POINT AS IF IT DOES NOT WANT TO STOP. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR WILL RED LINE FIRST GEAR AND THEN SHIFT TO 3RD AND REPEAT TO SHIFT TO 5TH GEAR. THIS IS NOT SAFE AT ALL, AS I LOSE THE ABILITY TO MANUALLY SELECT GEARS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING OCCURRENCE IN MY 2009 MITSUBISHI LANCER RALLIART SINCE DECEMBER OF 2009, AND IT IS NOW MARCH 1, 2010. THE SMELL LASTED AROUND 5 MINUTES, AND WE WERE FORCED TO OPEN ALL THE 4 WINDOWS, EVEN STILL THE SMELL WAS STRONG ENOUGH AND KEPT ON GOING. I STARTED FEELING LIGHTHEADED, SO I TOLD MY DAD, THE PASSENGER THAT I HAS TO PULL OVER (I LITERALLY FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO FAINT). WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND STEP AWAY FROM THE CAR. THE FRONT OUTER TIE ROD AND THE BUSHINGS WERE REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE FRONT TIRES CONTINUED TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE AND THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,178. THE FRONT OUTER TIE ROD AND THE BUSHINGS WERE REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE FRONT TIRES CONTINUED TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE AND THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. POWER TRAIN

i'll turn the car on and put it into reverse but the gear does not engage. the reverse light on the display panel just continues to blink. another issue involving the transmission occurs when trying to accelerate. when applying pressure to the gas pedal, the clutch fails to engage causing it to slip when shifting gears. also when trying to accelerate to pass another vehicle the car will not accelerate, the rpms just shoot through the roof further proving of clutch slippage. at this point, the car will lose the ability to shift to 2, 4, or 6 gear making normal city/highway driving very hazardous. when coming to a stop the car will downshift from 5th to 3rd and then to 1st putting tons of pressure on the brakes instead of decelerating the car gradually. the car actually hesitates at this point as if it does not want to stop. when accelerating from a complete stop the car will red line first gear and then shift to 3rd and repeat to shift to 5th gear. this is not safe at all, as i lose the ability to manually select gears. this has been an ongoing occurrence in my 2009 mitsubishi lancer ralliart since december of 2009, and it is now march 1, 2010. i have brought this issue to the attention of the service department without any help or acceptance of this being under warranty. there are several other cases where people are experiencing the same/similar issues. this transmission problems is a serious issue, almost an accident waiting to happen.

the transmission tc-sst is failing on the 2009 ralliart from mitsubishi the gears go crazy on me and jump around and gears are slipping and getting stuck. other people with the same car have experienced the same thing i think it should be re-call to get this fixed. it can cause a major accident on the highway which it almost did for me.

i was driving from dallas, tx, to el paso, tx in my 2009 mitsubishi ralliart. around 3pm and with an outside temperature of approx 99 degrees farenheit (based on the display readout on the car). i noticed a very very strong raw fuel or gas smell coming in from the vents. the air conditioner was on, so i turned it to recirculating air, it persisted, so i turned the air conditioner off, but the very strong gasoline smell, to my amazement, persisted. 2 passengers (my elderly dad 76, and my little sister, 18) also noticed the smell. the smell lasted around 5 minutes, and we were forced to open all the 4 windows, even still the smell was strong enough and kept on going. i started feeling lightheaded, so i told my dad, the passenger that i has to pull over (i literally felt like i was going to faint). we were able to pull over safely and step away from the car. later i turned the car on and the strong gas smell didnt return for the remainder of the drive. one of my passengers reported a headache that same night. this incident has happened 2 or 3 times before (last summer). please look into it asap. thank you. sincerely. and further information at this forum thread post, which i have been reading and following : http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-x-engine-turbo-drivetrain/501950-raw-fuel-smell-when-driving-5.html#post9479325 i'm not the only one experiencing this... *tt

2009 mitsubshi lancer ralliart pulls hard to right at all times. took to dealer they said there's nothing they can do about it. took to a suspension shop said manufacture set camber is off. i have went thru my third set of front tires in only 45,000 miles. i believe this should be investigated for safety.

tl* the contact owns a 2009 mitsubishi lancer ralliart. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times without warning . the contact inspected the vehicle and found that the serpentine belt was severed. the serpentine belt was replaced but the failure was not corrected. the serpentine belt continued to fracture and the tires were wearing prematurely due to a defective tire chamber. the front outer tie rod and the bushings were replaced but the failure was not corrected. the front tires continued to wear prematurely. the vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure and the dealer advised the contact that the technician could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 97,178.

tl* the contact owns a 2009 mitsubishi lancer ralliart. the contact stated that only certain gears could be engaged when driving at various speeds. when shifting into reverse, the indicator module would indicate that the vehicle was in reverse but the vehicle would not engage in reverse. when attempting to reverse, the transmission warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where they advised him that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. the failure and current mileages were approximately 25,000.

all wheel control pump units continue to fail with out mits... attempting to resolve the issue. costing min $2000 for repairs. they most of the time refuse to replace a poorly engineered awc pump. under a supposed awesome warranty. these units are failing all over canada & us. with mits knowing its a problem. but not resolving it. help us owners please. i don't want to or should have to replace a $2000 pump every 10,000 kms.

as i was driving my car to work last week a light came on that looks like my tires are unbalanced..?... thinking i might need new tires, i brought my car to the dealership. the dealership assured me that i did not need tires. i had my oil changed and my tires rotated including a front end alignment and an inspection. when i started to drive away from the dealership, a light came on again. i turned around and brought it right back.the dealer put my car on a machine and told me the issue is "code c161e" -intermittent issues with awd control pump and this part alone would cost $2000.00.my car is a 2009 with only 31000 miles on it. the dealer told me that my three year warranty is up however i still have 5000 miles. how could this happen with such minimal miles? i drive my car to work and home mostly and take good care of it. when i researched this issue online i found multiple people with the same issue and have reported the issue. however, nothing seems to be getting resolved except bad feelings. if this is such a huge issue (as it seems to be online) why does mitsubishi not do something about this. how can they just get away with a malfunctioning auto part that normal everyday people, still making car payments, can not afford. i would really appreciate anything you could do to help me get this issue repaired as i do not want to get rid of my car. i do not feel this should be the consumers problem but the manufacturers. thank you very much for your time.

as i was driving home from work i got a service required on screen, shut my car off it went away. next day driving to work same thing. it consistently comes on well driving and goes away on start up. had an alignment done, balanced all tires and no change. shop informed me of a code c161e. acd pump failure. mitsubishi stated as its over 60k miles i have no power-train coverage and a new pump and replacement was around $2000. kinda strange a part that seems to have so many issues all over the us and canada the can't do a recall?

i was pulling out of a parking spot and my awc light came on. i took it to the dealer and they told me that there was nothing wrong with my awd pump. i had to pay a $45.00 diagnostic fee for them to look at it. i am worried that the pump will eventually fail completely and i will out of luck. i know that the pump goes bad on these cars, as i have read a ton of different complaints about their ralliart/evo having the same issue.

EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE

awc pump failed after about 20,000 miles in the car. problem seems to be very common for the evo x and realliart models 2008 and after. car does not handle well with this setting and is not safe to drive in the winter because can't set to snow mode. cost to replace is around $2k and mitsu keeps stating this is not covered by powertrain warranty and is a maintenance item. never heard of a $2k maintenance items. there are numerous reports that state the cause of this is the wrong type of oil used and the fact that the part is not made of durable material causing rust and failure. seems to be a design flaw. please help.
