Safety Issue:
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 MINI Cooper S and MINI Cooper two-door vehicles, 2015-2016 MINI John Cooper Works and MINI Cooper S and MINI Cooper four-door vehicles and 2014-2015 BMW i3 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the passenger frontal air bag may not deploy properly in a low speed crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

OUR 2016 MINI COOPER JCW WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, WHERE IT FAILED TO STOP, AND, IN FACT SEEMED TO ACCELERATE. A PREVIOUS VERSION WE OWNED DID THE SAME THING, SEVERAL YEARS AGO. A FEW DAYS AFTER THIS ACCIDENT, AN ARTICLE APPEARED IN THE NATIONAL MEDIA, DESCRIBING A SIMILAR ACCIDENT IN NEW YORK. IN THAT INSTANCE, THE CAR STRUCK WAS BEING DRIVEN BY THE ACTOR [XXX] , WHICH WAS WHY IT RECEIVED SO MUCH NATIONAL ATTENTION. OUR VEHICLE SUFFERED $7000 IN DAMAGE. NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED, AND IT WAS MOVING AT LESS THAN 5 MILES AN HOUR. WE HAVE HAD MULTIPLE INCIDENTS OF FEET GETTING CAUGHT IN THE PEDALS (WE HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION).
