Safety Issue:

KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 1290 Super Duke R ABS, 2016 1290 Super Duke R SE ABS and 1290 Super Duke GT ABS and 2017-2018 Super Duke R and1290 Super Duke GT motorcycles. The piston within the Brembo front brake master cylinder may fail.

Potential Risk:
If the front brake master cylinder piston fails, the loss of front braking ability can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
KTM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the piston with an aluminum one, free of charge. The recall began on February 21, 2018. Owner's may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090.

Safety Issue:

KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2016-2017 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT motorcycles. The preformed fuel hose can develop small holes or cracks, potentially causing a fuel leak.

Potential Risk:
A fuel leak in the presence of a ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
KTM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the defective fuel hose, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2017. Customers may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090.

I RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL # 18V033 IN REGARDS TO THIS VEHICLE. KTM HAS FAILED TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM IN A REASONABLE TIMEFRAME. THE RECALL NOTICE WAS DATED ON 2/23/2018. ADDITIONALLY, BREMBO ANNOUNCED THE PROBLEM ON 1/8/2018. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ORDERED THE PARTS AS SOON AS THEY COULD, BUT THEY HAVE YET TO COME IN. THERE IS NOT AN ESTIMATED TIME FRAME FOR WHEN THE PARTS WILL ARRIVE TO ALLOW FOR THE REPAIR. GIVEN THE REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN MADE 5 WEEKS AFTER THE NOTICE AND 12 WEEKS AFTER THE INITIAL IDENTIFICATION OF THE PROBLEM, KTM HAS NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM IN A TIMELY MANNER.
