I CALLED KIA TO SCHEDULE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE DRIVESHAFT ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4TH. MY COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS SITUATION IS KIA DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REPLACE THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE ON BACK ORDER FOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS. KIA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS NOT BEEN AS RESPONSIVE AS I WOULD LIKE. I HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, SINCE I HAVE ALREADY HAD ON ACCIDENT AS A RESULT OF THE AFFECTED PART. I WAS TOLD TO CALL THEM THIS MORNING AT 7:30 AM TO ARRANGE TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. I CALLED, LEFT A VOICE MAIL, AND MY CALL WAS NOT RETURNED IN WHAT I THINK IS A TIMELY MANNER. AFTER 4 HOURS, I CALLED AGAIN. THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE FIRST SUNROOF IS SHATTERED. WE WERE NOT FOLLOWING A VEHICLE, I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS WAS CAUSED BY A ROCK OR ROAD DEBRIS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWENTY DAYS AFTER THE NEW TRAILER HITCH WAS INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000. I TOOK THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES BACK THE DEALER, WITH THE SAME FEEDBACK. "THE NOISE IS DUE TO THE GDI MOTOR TYPE". MY WIFE TOO THE CAR BACK TO MEDINA AUTO FOR IT FIRST OIL CHANGE AND I AGAIN ASK TO CHECK THE STRANGE NOISE ON THE ENGINE... THEY IMMEDIATELY SAID TO HER THAT THE NOISE WAS BECAUSE THE ENGINE TYPE (GDI). THEY CALL MY WIFE TO PICK THE CAR AS IT WAS READY. I WENT WITH MY WIFE TO THE DEALER TO PICKUP THE CAR, BECAUSE THAT NOISE WAS NOT RIGHT. WHEN I GET TO THE DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. THE NOISE IS DUE TO THE GDI ENGINE TYPE. I REQUEST THAT BEFORE I TURN THE CAR ON, A MECH TECHNICIAN BE WITH ME AND THAT HE PERSONALLY CONFIRM THAT THE NOISE WAS THE GDI. WELL THIS TIME THEY FOUND THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS BAD AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED... IF IT WASN'T FOR ME, THAT I PUSH THEM TO RE-INSPECT THE NOISE, MY WIFE COULD IT BE DRIVING THE CAR AND I WONDERING WHAT COULD IT HAPPEN TO HER.. when driving the sorento sx wearing sunglasses, the digital speedometer needle is virtually invisible. you can't readily confirm the vehicle's speed. you have to tilt your head and peer under or over the sunglasses to see the needle which is too dark against the black background. this means your eyes are off the road far longer than the typical glance needed with traditional speedometers. this design flaw will undoubtedly lead to unnecessary accidents, injury and death. *js

affected part is the right front axle driveshaft. a safety recall notice has been issued for the problem. as a result of this problem, as i was exiting my vehicle (which was turned off and in park), it started rolling down my driveway. the driver's side door was open as i was exiting the vehicle. the vehicle collided with a large bush at the end of the driveway. the point of impact was 09 left t-bone. this resulted in $3510.21 in repair fees. we incurred an out of pocket cost of $1000 for our deductible. the vehicle was not repaired and ready for pick up until the evening of october 3rd. i called kia to schedule the replacement of the right front axle driveshaft on friday, october 4th. my complaint about this situation is kia does not have the parts to replace the affected vehicles. i was told it would be on back order for at least two weeks. kia's customer service has not been as responsive as i would like. i have three small children and do not feel safe driving the vehicle, since i have already had on accident as a result of the affected part. i was told to call them this morning at 7:30 am to arrange to have my vehicle towed to my local dealership. i called, left a voice mail, and my call was not returned in what i think is a timely manner. after 4 hours, i called again. i was told i can only speak with the customer service representative who started the claim. i am currently waiting for him to call me back. this is probably more information than is necessary, so to sum up my complaint: there is a safety issue with this vehicle and an issued recall, but there are no parts to repair it.

came out to find that overnight the piece of glass above the windshield and between the sunroof was shattered entire width of windshield. there are no rock chips and car was not moving. car is kept in the garage. reading on the internet, i believe the problem was caused by a tension fracture. there have been many cases of this reported for the kia sorento with the sunroof itself shattering. (this was not the sunroof, but the glass piece in front of it.)

the speedometer needle is a small red line which is invisible in either sunlight or with driver wearing sunglasses. there is no way to see what my speed is. especially a problem setting cruise control as i have to remove my glasses, take my eyes off the road, to see how fast i am going in order to set the cruise control. this issue is well documented on kia sorento forums. please request kia come up with a software update to change the color or intensity of the speedometer needle.

the two rear, fixed windows leaked while the vehicle was in a touchless carwash. the dealership and service department have been notified and are having a glass expert inspect the trim and seal. the cause of the leaks is currently unknown.

the two rear, fixed windows leaked while the vehicle was in a touchless carwash. the dealership and service department have been notified and are having a glass expert inspect the trim and seal. the cause of the leaks is currently unknown.

in bright sunlight it is extremely difficult to see the speedometer needle. the needle is dark red against a dark black background. additionally it is only about 1/2" in length. if there is any ambient light striking the instrument cluster at an angle, the reflection masks the ability to see the needle. not having an accurate indication of your speed is a very dangerous situation.

we were driving on interstate 540 n, 70 mph, normal driving conditions, and light traffic when the sunroof exploded. it sounded like we had been hit by another vehicle or sometype of explosion. i immediately looked in the rear view mirror to see a large piece of dark glass flying off from the top of my car. the inside shade was closed, no glass entered inside the vehicle. we pulled off at the road and discovered a large hole in the middle of the first sunroof. the remaining portion of the first sunroof is shattered. we were not following a vehicle, i do not believe this was caused by a rock or road debris. the other parts of the glass roof seem ok, this was just the sunroof that is over the front seats.

on january 2014, i bought a kia sorento, 2014. on the same day i notice a strange noise on the engine. i took the car back to medina auto in caguas, puerto rico (dealer) and they said that the noise was due to the gdi motor type. i took the car several times back the dealer, with the same feedback. "the noise is due to the gdi motor type". my wife too the car back to medina auto for it first oil change and i again ask to check the strange noise on the engine... they immediately said to her that the noise was because the engine type (gdi). they call my wife to pick the car as it was ready. i went with my wife to the dealer to pickup the car, because that noise was not right. when i get to the dealer, they told me the same thing. the noise is due to the gdi engine type. i request that before i turn the car on, a mech technician be with me and that he personally confirm that the noise was the gdi. well this time they found that the engine block was bad and it had to be replaced... if it wasn't for me, that i push them to re-inspect the noise, my wife could it be driving the car and i wondering what could it happen to her.. after requesting the replacement of the unit with a new car and since i notified several times medina auto of the noise, the dealer refused to replace the car with a new unit and only offers to fix the engine. i am writing to you, because this is not the first time i am listening to this situation with the kia sorento 2014. any noise for the kia in the engine is the gdi... what could it happen to my wife and kids if the engine stop running or crank while my wife was driving it? there is something not right with the kia sorento 2014, and the dealers and service departments are failing in identify the situation that could potential can cause an accident... every noise in the engine is the gdi for kia, the dealers and service departments.....

i have 2 convertible car seats in the back seat of my sorento. one car seat is behind the driver and one behind the passenger seat, both are rear facing. they are secured using the seat belts, not latch, due to weight limits per the car seat manual. the seatbelts securing the car seats have been releasing on their own while driving, both while my children were in their car seats and without my children. most recently, i was making a left turn from a stop at a stop light when i heard one of the car seats sliding on the seat of the car. i immediately pulled over to buckle the seat back in. this has happened a total of 6 times behind the passenger and 2 times behind the driver in the past month- month and a half. the car seats have been in another vehicle and did not have this problem. i called kia 2 times and took my car to the local dealership. the local dealership had a technician buckle the seat belt and pull on it. they told me nothing was wrong, there is nothing they can do and sent us on our way. kia then told me that there is really nothing they can do either if they cannot see what is happening. i voiced my concern about getting into an accident and this happens, what will happen to my children? the car seat itself is only safe if properly secured in the car. kia did not sound very concerned and told me i needed to replicate this in front of a service technician at the dealership. this happens sporadically while i am driving. i find this to be a huge safety concern and am very unhappy with how kia is handling it.

the specs for the adjustment of hid lights are requiring the lights be set too low (not shining far enough) the road in front of the vehicle is illuminated for a few yards only, and the high beam light shines only as far as the low beam of me previous vehicles. this is very dangerous if one drives on a freeway at the allowed speeds (in some states this is 80 m/h). in my incident i was driving on i 80 in nebraska at about 12 am and did not see a chunk of truck tire laying on the roadway. i drove over the piece which subsequently was propelled under my vehicle and destroyed the protective plastic shield for the brake lines and tore off the fumes canister of the gas tank. both could have ended up in a rather dangerous condition, and one has to ask, is a plastic shield the proper protection for these components? this would not have happened if the headlights would have illuminated enough of the road in front of the car which in turn would have allowed for an evasive maneuver.

there has been a very hard jerk forward after a stop (or stop and turn i. e. at stop sign) when i start to accelerate gently. this jerk has always happened after a stop within 75 - 150 feet. the speed of the vehicle has always been around 10- 15 mph. jerk forward seems to be a slam forward of drive shaft after just starting to accelerate. this has occurred about three times a month and usually after car has run about five minutes. i am not a mechanic but this seems to be power train issue with drive shaft, brakes and/ or transmission involved. i will research further with dealer as time permits - they have been made aware of this issue but did not say for sure what was happening as of yet (want longer evaluation to drive vehicle themselves).
