Defect Description:

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

The manufacture used wire splicers to connect the electric trailer brakes to wiring harness. These connectors are located on the axles and are exposed to water and road salt. The connectors they used were not sealed where the wire enters and caused wiring to corrode and lose contact. This caused trailer brakes to not function consistently or to fail completely as they did for us on trip a few weeks ago. Picture of connector is attached. This style of connector is not for use in places exposed to the elements.
