General Motors, Llc
NHTSA Campaign: 21V115000 SAFETY RECALL
33.8K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Feb 25, 2021
Safety Issue:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, XT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, 2018-2021 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana, 2019-2020 Chevrolet Blazer, Silverado 1500, GMC Acadia, Sierra 1500, and certain Continental tires sold to the aftermarket for various model year 2018-2021 vehicles. The affected tires were cured for too long during production.

Potential Risk:
Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall resulting in sudden air loss or a belt edge separation which could lead to a tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 22, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N212329050.

502 Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Nov 21, 2019
Safety Issue:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Camaro, Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The fuel pump may be missing a pressure regulator, allowing for over-pressurization of the fuel system.

Potential Risk:
Over-pressurization can crack the fuel pump and cause leaks, increasing the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source.
FREE Recall Solution:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began December 18, 2019. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267. GM's number for this recall is N192283991.

653K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Oct 24, 2019
Safety Issue:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Potential Risk:
Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

Hello, I’m calling about the GM transmission recall recently announced in March 2025 affecting 2020 Yukon vehicles. My Yukon experienced what I believe is the exact same issue described in the recall. Our vehicle lost forward gears and almost caused a crash. A certified mechanic confirmed the transmission fluid was burnt and full of clutch material, with internal transmission damage. We are asking for this to be handled under the recall, as the issue directly matches GM’s known safety defect. We need this resolved immediately — the vehicle is unsafe to drive and the failure happened before we even knew about the recall. Our GMC Mechanic stated the following : Needs immediate attention Recommended service Transmission: test drove verified no forward gears after 3 minutes of driving. fluid brown and burnt full of clutch material. internal damage to transmission. A transmission flush is a process that makes it possible to clear the old transmission fluid from the vehicle's transmission. This process also helps to remove residue of older transmission fluid from the converters, coolers, and cooler lines that often are part of the design for the transmission.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Shortly after the warranty expired my torque converter went out and damaged the transmission. After speaking with several transmission shops this is a known problem with this vehicle! The torque converter and transmission are poorly made, and no matter if you get all of your services this will still happen to you! This should be a recall on this vehicle. Less than 4 years old and I am having to spend over $5,000 to replace a transmission. The vehicle just hit 100,000 miles. If this is a known issue with this vehicle why has it not been recalled? The dealership tried to tell me I just needed battery cables replaced. I decided to get a second and third opinion and as I suspected the transmission is gone. There were NO warning lights, the car just suddenly started not wanting to change gears while driving. At the red light it jumped and wouldn’t move which made the car behind me almost hit me. There were no other symptoms until the gears started not wanting to change. No noises, smells, or any indication that something was wrong. The vehicle is now at a transmission shop awaiting repair. This needs to be a recall if this is a known issue.

Defect Description:

SEAT BELTS

Potential Consequences:

THE RENTED 2020 TAHOE WAS STATIONARY. A PASSENGER SITTING IN THE LEFT THIRD ROW SEAT BECAME STUCK IN THE SEAT BELT. SHE WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE SEATBELT CLASP AS IT GOT STUCK AND FAILED TO UNLATCH. THE MORE THE PASSENGER STRUGGLED TO UNLATCH THE SEATBELT, THE PROGRESSIVELY TIGHTER IT BECAME. PASSENGER COULD NOT DISENGAGE THE SEATBELT CLASP BY PRESSING THE TINY RED BUTTON. THREE OTHER PASSENGERS TRIED TO RELEASE THE SEATBELT AND COULD NOT. PASSENGER WAS TRAPPED WITH TIGHT SEAT BELT HOLDING HER IN. OTHER PASSENGERS CALLED EMERGENCY PERSONNEL WHO ALSO COULD NOT RELEASE THE EVER TIGHTENING SEAT BELT. PASSENGER WAS RELEASED WHEN THE RANGER CUT THE SEAT BELT WITH A SEATBELT CUTTING EMERGENCY TOOL. IT WAS A VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE. LATER, SOME OF OUR GUESTS FIGURED OUT THAT YOU HAVE TO PRESS THE TINY RED BUTTON ON THE LEFT LATCH WITH A PIECE OF THE RIGHT BUCKLE. A PASSENGER SHOULD BE ABLE TO RELEASE THE SEATBELT BY DEPRESSING THE RED BUTTON. A PASSENGER CANNOT EVEN REACH THE BUTTON FROM THE SEATED POSITION AS THE BUTTON IS TINY AND CANNOT ACCOMMODATE AN ADULT FINGER TO DEPRESS IT. THIS IS THE WORST EXAMPLE OF ENGINEERING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I AM FRANKLY AMAZED THAT THIS DESIGN PASSED ANY SAFETY TESTS. PLEASE ADDRESS THE ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED BY BEING TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE AND UNABLE TO ESCAPE. *TR
