ford lcf has had continual problems when driven at higher speeds. vehicle stalls out and can only be restarted after cool down. we have had the vehicle in for repeated service but the problem continues. we have concluded that the only solution is not to drive this truck at higher speeds and keep it in town. the dealer has replaced injectors and other fuel delivery parts and on one service call stated that the truck needed an oil change. previous oil change was at 3000 miles.

2006 ford lcf 450. consumer states problem with fuel system *tgw the consumer stated he has been experiencing problems with the vehicle, since the day of purchase. the engine was replaced at 96,018 miles. the vehicle stalled and would not restart. the dealer changed the new ficm that came with the new engine because it was not done when the engine was first replaced. the dealer then found the number 2 and 6 fuel injectors had failed. the next day the vehicle was still running poorly with bucking and very little power so the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. they then found that the fuel pump failed so they replaced it. they also found the number 1, 3,4 and 5 fuel injectors had failed and replaced them. the dealer did not lower the fuel tank for inspection nor did they flush the lines per procedure. several weeks later, the vehicle stalled again without warning. the dealer found that the fuel pump was not putting out pressure so they replaced the fuel pump again. the dealer found that the fuel tank had not been inspected. the lines had not been flushed and the pump assembly lines had been broken by the previous repair, therefore, the fuel and housing was full of contamination. the consumer did not feel that recall # 06v47100 sufficiently addressed the engine/fuel corrosion problems thus creating numerous repairs to his vehicle. *jb

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL

our company has a 2006 ford lcf medium duty truck with 30,000 miles on it and the 4.6 l v-6 powerstroke diesel. at about 24,000 miles we began having power loss issues with it. we pulled the fuel filters and found them clogged with what appeared to be flakes of silver paint. assuming we had gotten a bad tank of fuel, we replaced them and assumed the problem would go away. since then we have had to replace the filters 3 more times ( at $85.00 each time ) in 6,000 miles. the truck will start to lose power quickly, with no warning and can even stall suddenly. after researching on line, i have found that the problem is extremely widespread with ford diesel medium duty trucks and is caused by the fuel tanks delaminating. the repairs can be anywhere from $600 - $8,000 depending on how much damage is done. they can also cause loaded trucks to stall, or lose all power on crowded freeways as has happened to us several times now, posing a very real safety hazard. despite it being a widespread enough problem that there are several law firms looking into it ( one being girardgibbs.com, san francisco ) i can find nothing on here about it. the local commercial ford dealer admits its' a problem and that ford is doing nothing about it. please advise.

our ford lcf450 was lacking power and was idling rough. we took it in to our local dealer and they stated that the fuel tank was delaminating which clogged the fuel lines. they said we needed to replace the fuel tank, fuel pump and fuel filters. the dealership said that this was caused by putting in diesel fuel that had trace amounts of biofuel.

the contact stated that after parking the vehicle, it failed to restart. the contact attempted to "jump start" the vehicle; however, it would not start. i had taken the truck to an authorized dealer for repairs. they state that the vehicle is not under the warranty so i have to pay for it. just for the diagnostic they were charging 575.00 so i decided to take to an other mechanic shop i am really disappointed with this ford dealer. i paid a lot of money for this truck it has only 32 thousand mileages.. i found similar problems with other trucks same model same year. i still have my truck in the mechanic they replace the starter and the alternator. but the fuel problems still there. i call the ford motor company they told me that i have to take to an authorized ford dealer for diagnostic. so they can help me from there. i am going to take there to see what happen.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

we purchase the ford lcf in april of 2006 and had our first fuel pump replacement in feb. of 2007 at just over 14,000 miles. luckily the first replacement was under warranty, since the first repair/replacement we have had the truck down for similar related items to fuel pump 7 times. we stopped bringing it to rush truck center after warranty was expired because their rates are so high. this year it was down almost 45 days off the road dealing with ford corporate office begging them to do a buy back, because this vehicle is costing us as an arm and a leg and negatively affects our business. the vehicle barely has 65,000 miles and has become so undependable that we don't know what to do. our business is directly related to construction, we as many others are barely hanging on and cannot just replace this vehicle. it also has a defect related to the air-conditioner. the ac unit is placed directly above the front wheel well without any metal barrier, it went out as well within the first 18 months of ownership, and will be over $1800.00 to repair/replace the unit. we opted out of the repair because the mechanic told us one small rock will just cause the same damage and go right through the compressor because of the poor placement. we have contacted ford and were suppose to get a buy back answer within 14 days it took many phone calls and we finally got a very polite 'no way' on our buy back request. all we want is a dependable delivery truck! it is paid off and we don't have the money to replace it. please help!

our 2006 ford lcf runs very rough, and stalls while moving. ford dealership said the fuel tank is delaminating inside, causing the fuel injectors to fail. apparently this has been going on for the last couple of years. we've replaced several fuel injectors over that time. the cost to fix this (from ford) is 5,000.00. new tank, fuel lines, all new injectors. in researching this issue, i found that this is becoming common for the ford 2006 ford lcf. i have very good maintanance records and only use fuel from one source. since 2009 i have spent 14,000.00 on repairing this ford lcf, mostly fuel issues.
