ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT PANEL

tl*the contact owns a 2008 dodge charger. when applying pressure to the brakes, the vehicle vibrates excessively. the vehicle stalled twice when coming to a complete stop. while driving over 40 mph, the speedometer dropped to zero. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the key module and rpm module; however, the failure remains. she filed a complaint with the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 6 and current mileage was 25,970.

transmission shift hard from 1st to second gear every morning. loud enough to hear inside and outside of car. dealer says there is no fix ofr this problem, and it could be on all the new 2008 v6 chargers. they have failed to tell the public this information. and failed to fix my charger. it has been in the shop twice in 3 weeks.

haleigh is my 3 year old daughter, and we bought this car on 5/31, we had people at our house on 6/1 for a party so kids were in and out all day. haleigh went in my car being curious, the doors all shut, and she could not open the doors because all 4 door handles are solid metal and were so hot that they burned her hand and she could not get out. when i found her she was almost passed out from the 125 degrees that it was in the car, and had to go to the emergency room. no life threatening injuries occurred, but could have easily since she could not get out of the car. i have also burned my hand on the door handles multiple times since then because they are solid metal. this needs to be changed, before a child gets serious injuries!!!!

i purchased this car on august 4 2008. initially, when i test drove the vehicle, the car would mildly vibrate on a complete stop. i told the sales representative about the problem and we both agreed it might have been a minor issue. he stated the problem will be corrected prior to purchasing the vehicle. i did not think nothing of the issue. the day i purchased the vehicle the sales representative stated that the problem was corrected through the maintenance department. one week later, the check engine lighted up on a saturday morning prior to me going to work. i drove to work with the light on with no others problems. after arriving at work, i called the dealership requesting a appointment at earliest tuesday morning. on that tuesday morning, the maintenance representative suggested that the engine sensor revealed " flex plate" also that i should leave the vehicle with him for arrival of the part the following day. i agreed and waited for two days. on friday morning, august 15 2008, i picked up my vehicle under the assumption everything was okay. after signing the maintenance invoice, i noticed the technical name of the problem was a "flywheel." i felt a little misled. later, that afternoon, the check engine flickered on and off for a few minutes and the vehicle started vibrating very hard when stopping or slowing down.

there seems to be a widespread issue with dodge chargers (2006 - present). when accelerating and pressing the gas pedal a "whistle" sound can be heard coming from the powertrain / engine section. the sound only occurs during steady acceleration between 40 - 65 mph. if the gas pedal is released or pressed harder the sound goes away. many charger owners have reported this issue on their vehicles (se, se+, srt, r/t, etc..) but the service centers at the dealerships have yet to determine the cause and there is no fix for this yet. this could be affecting thousands of charger vehicles and needs to be investigated.

the ohio state highway patrol reports that the transmission shift cable on 2 of the 20, 2008 dodge charger police cruisers it is evaluating was found to be detached from its mounting bracket. this caused the miss-alignment between the prndl and the transmission which could cause the vehicle to still be in drive when the prndl indicates park.

we had purchased a 2008 dodge charger with 2 miles. approximately 3-4 months after we had purchased the vehicle it had engine oil on crankshaft seal, speedometer was erratic it would go from 60-0 from cruising, it had a jolt pulling feeling. from that point on the air conditioner was not cooling properly, & had a foul smell, cruise control would cancel by itself. then on 06/23/2008 it had engine oil leak. so we decided to do something that would just completely ruin our credit, we voluntarily turned in the car. as of today 02/26/2009 we have a balance as per chrysler of 7,500 dollars because they were only able to sell it for 17,000. i have invoices, to proof what our issues were, some were replaced, some tsb was and wasn't found. we had the vehicle for only 7-8 months. and for this to be such an issue with a brand new vehicle to me was just ridiculous. since that was the main reason i had purchased a brand new car in the first place.

i have a 2008 dodge charger with 15,500 miles with in that same week i have had my car at gary mathews motors dodge, jeep, and chrysler 3 times and i've been talking to ryan l. brown i took the car in for the first time on 4-21-09 they had it for less than one day and said it was fixed that the computer chip failed and they reprogrammed the power train control module. i had the car for one day and i had to take it in again on wednesday 4-23-09 and they had to tow my car it wasn't drive able this time they said the same code was coming up but they replaced the trans solenoid and performed a diagnostic also rnr valve body they then said they fixed the car and it was good to go the i had the car for a couple more day and it broke down again it went back in on saturday 4-26-09 and today is friday 5-1-09 and they replaced the power train control modular on tuesday 4-28-09 and they said the same code is still coming up and they have to replace more parts since the 28 or april they haven't contacted me so i called the chrysler company to launch a complaint and spoke with eric smith i told him what was going on and he said he would call gary mathews and find out what was going on and call back after about an hour i called them back and spoke with jack williams he said they called and we didn't answer but my phone never rang and then jack told me the same thing the guy at gary mathews was all ready telling me about my car so i got up set because i called chrysler to get some thing done because i bought a new car it's 1 year old and i can't drive it and no one knows how to fix it so i asked to file for a lemon law he said he did so and gave me a reference number of 18546683 then i asked him what else can i do and he told me that i should give it a couple of days i don't know what to do i bought a new car its broke down and no one can fix it can you help also even if they do fix it they have replaced so many major parts its the car safety i don't trust that car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2008 dodge charger se plus 3.5ho shortly after purchasing this vehicle i noticed a very bad shake/shudder/stutter when the vehicle was shifting, mainly from first to second gear, which results in power loss. i have taken it to various dealerships numerous times. one dealership told me that they could not duplicate the symptom, and that it was performing as designed. another dealership stated that they know exactly what i am taking about, but that dodge had not come up with a fix for it yet, and they did not know when they would. i see this as a safety issue, and this should be corrected asap.

i bought my 08 charger 3.5l v6 in jan of 08. only weeks after i noticed that it shifts hard on the very first shift of the day when it goes from 1st to 2nd. after that it shifts fine. i have had it to the shop 3 times. twice they uploaded a new computer program. it didn't help. the last time they claim to have replaced all of the seals in the transmission. that didn't fix it either. i have just given up nut i am considering filing a lemon law claim. figured with them being in the trouble they are it wouldn't really get me anywhere. nice car overall, just poor power train!

i bought a 2008 dodge charger daytona from chapman dodge in las vegas, nv. they sold me the vehicle brand new with 22" tires. the tire are hitting the fenders and cutting into the tires. i contacted chrysler corporation and they said in an email that chrysler corporation does not recommend this size tire on this car because it would be a safety hazard. i had five family members in the vehicle a couple weeks ago and noticed a noise coming from the front of the vehicle and when i stopped to investigate the lip of the fender was all bent and there were cuts in the tire. if i had been on the highway driving the speed limit of 70 mph and this happened, the results could of been tragic.

my 2008 dodge charger was wrecked in april. the abs light and esp (traction control) lights on the dash came on. the next thing i knew there was no brakes at low speeds. this had never happened before. i continued to my destination only a few miles away and planned to call a tow truck. as i tried to stop so i could get out to open a gate the car would not stop and i wrecked the car. there was nothing done to correct the failure. the car was totaled and nothing was ever done by dodge or chrysler to compensate for the problem. in fact i was told that the very moment the lights came on i should have stopped driving the vehicle and called the dealership. this would have been possible if i lived in a bigger city, but i live in the country with very little cell phone reception in some areas. *tw

i have a 2008 dodge charger with 24,000 miles on it and have my car serviced as required and yet the engine blew lastnight. over the last 2 weeks my car was making ticking noises but it was not constant,i let it go. then 3 days ago i took my car to have an oil change and it wasn't time but i was worried so i did. lastnight the car engine sounded really bad lots of clunking so i pulled over afraid of not knowing what was going to happen. i have dodges lifetime drivetrain warranty so i had it towed to the dealer. today they called and told me the engine was not covered because of sludge buildup. i told them i did all the maintenance and have proof but they still insist it is my fault.i am at a loss now of where to turn. $5-$7000.00 will get it running again out of my pocket. please help as i thought i was covered and don't know what to do.

after receiving recall 08v583000 involving police vehicles with steering column mounted shifter on 11/18/2008, vehicle repeatedly has problems engaging gears. officers driving this vehicle place the shifter into drive and learn that it has not engaged and is instead in neutral. it often startles the officers, who are focused on making rapid shift changes in order to pursue violators or negotiate terrain. officers find that they often need to push the steering column shifter toward the dash to properly engage the appropriate gear, causing a lapse in driving skills and a loss of focus on vehicle operation. the latest failure occured in the middle of a crowded intersection as the patrol officer was attempting to pursue a violator. vehicle showed it was in reverse when it was between reverse and neutral. shifting to drive, it remained between neutral and drive until the officer could correctly engage the appropriate gear.

reached for drink, knocked gearshift (automatic) into neutral. wheels locked up. was going 70 mph on i-10 near baton rouge. spun sideways, looking at white line, thru driver's window sideways down a busy highway, at night . put back in neutral, car straightened out. pulled to shoulder. waited for heart to return to normal. had seat cleaned the next day. could have been killed, due to 'driver's loss of control'. no one would have ever known what caused the wreck. how many have died this way?

on august the 22,2010 my car exited the off ramp onto warden road going about 60 mph during this time my tires blew out on my dodge charger 2008 model during this time lost control of vehicle at this point it flips over several times car was total injuries were sustained but we noticed that the airbags did not deploy raising concern as to why they didn't come out. we thought maybe after the accident that they did but we went to view the car and no airbags came out .

i have a 2008 dodge charger, the check engine light came on and i was wondering why. i took the car into autozone to get the scan via obdii, the scan came up with code p1004 which is a dealer code. i immediately researched the code and found that it was due to my "short runner valve" and my intake manifold. this issue is a widespread epidemic among chrysler cars; sebring, charger, 300...mostly 3.5 engines. the dealership (darcars dodge new carrollton md) told me that it was not a recall even though they know it is out of hand and also that the federal emissions warranty does not cover this although it seems to be linked to emissions. this is very confusing to me and also baffling. chrysler told me that i would be contacted the next day after they called to confirm information on friday oct.15. i never received that call. i do not feel like the company really cares about it's consumers only how many cars they can shoot off the lot. even with further research it is a known fact to the company that they rushed production on the 3.5l motors, but why? are we not consumers? i have two of chrysler's vehicles in my driveway; 2007 chrysler 300 as well as 2008 dodge charger, do i not deserve better? this really sickens me and the rest of the community on the forums i frequent!!!! we as consumers do not ask you guys for much, but if we take the opportunity to buy your products have the decency to make sure our families are safe.... sincerely, disappointed consumer.

i purchased a 2008 dodge charger in the first month it was having electrical issues were i would loose power to the dash board and the lights then the car would just shut off. i took it in for repair and they replaced the relay. the car continued to have these issues not frequently enough were the dealership would let me bring it in. 12 months go buy and i bring it in to the dealership anyway and they said they could not regenerate the problem. 2 months later the car caught on fire from the trunk and burned to the ground. the fire marshall did not do a forensic investigation but said it obviously looks to have started with the battery and i agreed with the amount of electrical problems i had with this car. there was no after-market anything on this car it was all stock. dodge will not help or release any info to me in regards to the problem. they wont even talk to me. 3 months later i moved to arizona and met a person who had the same problem.

my 2008 dodge charger will lose a/c, radio, turn signals and power steering while driving and sometimes stall out completely when this happens while driving. have taken it to dealer 10 times for same problem - dealer has replaced steering column module 3 times but i am still having same problem. this started happening in may 2010 then more frequent in november 2010 and just happened again yesterday (12-15-2010). dealer placed flight recorder in vehicle and while i was driving with that installed i lost a/c, radio and turn signals. dealer could not figure out the problem so they sent results from flight recorder to chrysler - as of today i still have not heard back from the dealer. needless to say i am feeling very uncomfortable driving this car (especially with my children inside) not knowing when the car will decide to lose all power and stall while driving ..

i bought a 2008 dodge charger in march of '08. the front brakes were squeaking, one week after buying the car. the front end of the car and steering wheel would also shake and vibrate. i returned to the dealer to inform them of the problem and they kept the car for a few days. i returned to pick the car up after they called me to tell me they had fixed it. i asked them what work they did and they told me that they "cleaned" the pads. needless to say, the brakes were still squeaking as i was driving the car off the lot. the car also continued to shake when applying the brakes. i returned shortly after to have them try and fix it again. this time i was told that the brakes for 2008 chargers "suck" and that i would need to buy aftermarket rotors and pads. i bought the parts and returned to the dealer to have them install them. one week later, they were squeaking again. this is a very common problem with 2008 chargers as i've found by reading numerous forums on the internet.

this is a law enforcement vehicle the officer started it to let it warm up. the vehicle had been running for about 10 minutes when he noticed smoke coming from the windows. the fire originated in the instrument panel and destroyed the drivers side of the dash, head liner, steering wheel, seat and windshield. the rest of the interior has heavy smoke damage vehicle is a total loss.

i was driving in the south carolina area in a 2008 srt8 charger that i purchase in 11/2010 with 5 year warrant, at 9:20pm and two deer jump in my view while i was riding 55mh as s c state law. whereas, i had ran off the road in a while area hitting pole. my airbag never deployed. i had undid my seat belt and exit the vehicle waiting for help to come by....i have taken pics of the vehicle to the condition of it and that the airbags never deployed.

2008 dodge charger catches on fire while traveling on the interstate. no sensor lights or warning signs given. the fire apparently started at the front right side of the hood. in less than 10 minutes, the fire spread throughout the wiring system of the car which caused the entire car to engulf in flames. fire department stated that it was an electrical fire. chrysler was notified and decided to investigate the situation. chrysler stated that they were unable to disclose any information about the cause of the fire. the only response we received from chrysler was an apology.

i driving and merged onto route 3 going south; i turned my right blinker on since the ramp was on the right, it shut off when i got on the expressway. automatically the left blinker came on, even though i did not turn it on. while driving on the expressway going 60mph with three kids in the car i had to try to turn off the blinker, which would not turn off. it was a scary situation since there was a lot of traffic; so i was trying to watch the traffic (which may think i was merging left) and fix the issue at the same time. repeatedly the right blinker came on, then the left again. there was a loud clicking noise when i tried to fix it, after several tries the blinker shut off. i got off the expressway and every turn i made the same thing happened. i call and emailed chrysler dodge. i was told a supervisor would return my call within 24 hours. they did not. i repeatedly emailed and called. in the interim i brought my car to the dealership and i researched the problem online and by speaking to mechanics and service people at dodge dealerships. according to all of these sources this is a common problem with dodge chargers. today, july 26th, i finally talked to a supervisor after calling dodge another two times. he ([xxx]) said that there is no recall on the part (which i found out was a clock spring failure) and that they would do nothing to help. i asked if he would allow me to talk to his superior and he said he didn't have one. he then said he did but they would tell me the same thing. i asked if they were going to at least warn other owners of this issue and he said no, that the case was closed. i told him about the information i had gained by talking to mechanics, service people (including the one who fixed my car) and online research. i told him i would fax it to him. even with all of this information he told me that they would not do anything about this issue. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

driver had been experiencing intermittent problems with esp bas light coming on along with occasional popping sounds from steering wheel when making turns. on day of incident, driver was attempting to make a (left) u-turn in a median. steering wheel turned approximately 3/4 of one revolution and would not turn any further to left. driver jerked on steering wheel a few times which 'broke loose' lock and turn was able to be completed. vehicle was driven to one dodge dealership for inspection and driver was told no problems could be found. upon leaving dealership, esp bas light come on again. driver took vehicle to a second dodge dealership where diagnostics revealed a faulty steering angle sensor. sensor was replaced and no further problems have been experienced at this time.

on christmas eve, december 24th 2012 at approximately 1:45 in the afternoon i was driving my 2008 dodge charger on a busy intersection when all of a sudden i heard a loud banging noise from my engine compartment. after i heard the loud noise, my 2008 dodge charger immediately stopped and shut off in the middle of the busy intersection nearly causing a chain reaction multicar accident. a local police offer came to the scene and helped direct traffic until i was able to physically push my car out of heavy traffic. once i was able to look under the hood i noticed a lot of coolant pouring to the ground. i also notice that there was no coolant in the coolant department. i contacted the local dodge dealership, but unfortunately they were closed due to the holidays. lucky i was able to bring my 2008 dodge charger to tire kingdom. the manager of tire kingdom identified the problem and stated that my cooling fan broke off causing the broken pieces of the fan to fly into my radiator which caused my radiator damage and left a hole in my radiator. additionally i had to pay $571.36 to repair my 2008 dodge charger and the day before christmas on top of that. i have full receipts for the repairs and i also have pictures of the broken fan and damaged radiator. after going to the national highway traffic safety administration's website www.nhtsa.gov i discovered that dodge had a tsbs out for this problem. therefore, this problem was not my fault what so ever.

was driving to work and going about 30 mph and accelerating after a stop light and engine started to hesitate and then heard very load rattling/ticking noise that is non stop. car stalled in middle of street. finally got it started again. car did make it home but would not accelerate too much. am now told by mechanic that engine is blown and need to replace it. have maintained this engine and replaced oil regularly. driven to work and home and little else. driven well, and taken care of. prior to me owning it was owned by my moms company for an executive car and it was managed by a fleet manager and serviced and maintained well. they were original owners even though title shows 2 changes. it may have been transferred to a fleet management company after the initial purchase. i am the 2nd owner. i am given a $4000 estimate to replace the engine. i am still paying the loan for this car.

driving down the highway the engine just shut off. no lights came on prior to this. i pulled over and it started back. i went back toward my home (20 miles) and stopped at a store and when i pulled back on the road it shut off again. it started back but left me afraid to drive the car anymore. this is very dangerous and i suspect it has something to do with the fobik key turning back to the off position on its on, because sometimes when i start it sticks in the start position and does not spring back.

the car started to show problems weeks before breaking down. sometimes the engine would start as soon as i turn the key on and other times i had to wait four to six second before the engine would start. one morning i tried to turn the car on but not even a click. i took the car to the dealer by recharging the battery to turn it on. the dealer diagnosed my car with wireless control module failure and consequently they had to program a new key. i purchased the extended warranty and was assured every part on the car was covered except for the usual; tires, brake pads etc. i ended up paying out of my pocket and the repair was not cheap. after doing some research i learned that there is a recall on the newer models for the same reason. additionally, sometimes my stereo turns of, my windows do not roll down and turning signals go off. this car has too many problems. current mileage is 38,458 miles.

there is a rubber boot on the right side of the trunk lid that contains wires for the trunk release. after examing a few online forums about why the trunk lid wasn't releasing after the button was pushed on the dashboard, the forums said to look under the rubber boot for stretched and broken wires. sure enough i pulled back the rubber boot and found the broken wires. it probably has something to do with the way the wires are being stretched when the trunk is opening and closing, i feel this can be an electrical and a fire hazard especially because the trunk release isn't fused at all in the fuse panel.

after filling the vehicle at a local gas station and upon coming to a stop light the car stalled. no check engine light came on nor did the car give any warning. the car restarted after some cranking and drove okay for a while. later that day the car stalled again when at a stop light. again, no warning was had and the car just stalled. the issue is well documented within "lxfourms" website by many many member who have had the same issue. the issue has never gone away and the only aid is to never fill past 3/4 of a tank when re-fueling which is the only thing that has kept my car from stalling. the problem seems to stem from a bad rollover/check valve that is located within the fuel tank and is not serviceable per chrysler/dodge. the only "fix" is a new gas tank which is as i understand the same design so is prone to fail again.

i stopped my dodge charger in the gas station parking lot. i just finished washing my charger and was on my way to a car show. i stopped at the gas station to wait for the rest of the people in my group. my girlfriend exited her vehicle and got into my car. i started my car back up to run the a/c. within a few seconds of starting my car up, i heard a loud bang. i immediately turned my car off and exited my vehicle. as i got out of my vehicle, i observed a small stream of green fluid (antifreeze) running beneath my vehicle. i popped my hood and observed my radiator was damaged again. i also observed that my cooling fan was in pieces again. but this time it was my passenger side cooling fan. i had my car towed to the same body shop as last year and the mechanic there advised me to look into an recalls involving the cooling system of my car. he explained that it occurred the same way as the other fan did a year ago. at that time i saw a customer satisfaction notification l08 that involved dodge chargers 2006-2008. i read the notification and learned that my vehicle was not covered by this notification. my dodge charger was originally sold in florida and i bought it in florida. my charger was manufactured on 10/10/2007 and my charger is a 2008. i felt like my car was covered by this notification in several ways. but chrysler claims that my vin was not covered due to the sales code, even though the defect the notification mentioned was precisely the same. this problem began shortly after i purchased (in 2010) this 60,000 mile one-owner car a 2008 dodge charger 5.7l rwd police package. the key fails to be removed from the ignition key switch. the key switch cannot be turned to the "off" position to be removed and stays stuck in the "accessory" position. this is a real safety issue because the key must be left in the ignition switch opening the possibility to vehicle theft or any child or other passerby making entry into the vehicle and starting & driving away. leaving the key "on" in the accessory position subsequently drains the battery, after only a matter of hours the battery is dead and leaves the owner repeatedly stranded. leaving the accessory circuits energized for long periods also increases the chances of a vehicle fire. i took the car to a local dodge dealer in lumberton nj, they told me it was a defective win module. i paid for the removal & installation of a new win module and the car exhibits the same exact problem as before. i took it back to the dealer to have it verified that it's still occurring and had to argue with them for a refund only to be given dealer credit. the dealer then showed me a dodge engineer's service bulletin describing this issue perfectly. often these symptoms are symptomatic of a win module but if the win is not at fault, dodge states that the "esm" module (electronic shift module) is at fault and needs to be replaced. the esm is located on the steering column in a 2008 dodge charger 5.7l rwd police package car and is connected to the column shift gear selector. the dodge dealer states the esm module is not available for replacement and the entire steering column must be replaced due to the part not available for sale separately. every other module for the charger is available for purchase except the esm and dodge service wants $2400 to needlessly replace the entire column. *jb

vehicle is experiencing major safety defect similar to recent gm ignition recall. on numerous occasions vehicle has experienced sudden engine shut-off at varying speeds including highway 65mph plus. complete electrical system shut down deactivates all onboard systems, including power-steering, breaking, and air bag deployment. vehicle shut down occurs randomly. re-occurrence has been as frequently as hours between similar occurrence to as long as 5,000 miles between occurrences. vehicle has been in for repairs to dealer without dealer able to recreate defect. various electrical system parts were replaced without successfully curing the defect. two separate dealerships recommended wireless ignition (win) module replacement but chrysler has refused to send the part. chrysler customer care states that win module is only replaced when vehicle fails to start at all times. vehicle owner requested replacement part as recommended by certified technicians but chrysler will not release part to vin associated vehicle. therefore, vehicle has not been repaired. current mileage is 78,000. identical occurrences have been reported to nhtsa under id numbers: 10294768, 10369140, 10370988, 10386410, 10390065, 10396098, 10508333, 10520262, and 10525632. vehicle defect has serious potential for death and serious injury due to product failure (airbags failing to deploy).

vehicle shut off/stalled multiple times while driving or making a stop. many other people owning dodge cars, charger, challenger, and some other models have been dealing with this for years. it has happened to me 4 times since i bought my car in 2012, the first time it happened while braking to make a left turn the car stalled completely all my dash lights came on i had to pull over and restart the engine. second time i was doing bout 40mph in a local road when the car suddenly shut off for no reason, same thing dash lights came on i put it in neutral and restarted the engine. i did a google search on this problem and i found many complaints from dodge owners of this models having the same problem and dodge isn't doing nothing bout it even after multiple complaints from the public. they probably waiting like gm for people to be harm or killed to start doing recalls.

while driving the ignition disengages. i can place the car in neutral and attempt to restart at the same speed. we have seven keys on the keyring, a d-ring, so it is not a heavy key ring making the ignition turn off while driving. this has happened on several occasions from speeds varying from 10 miles to 60 miles an hour.

the vehicle was being operated on interstate 264 at a speed of approximately 60 mph. suddenly, and without warning, the vehicle lost all power and slowed to approximately 10-15 mph. the vehicle had to be towed to a local dodge dealer where it was determined that the ignition win module had failed which also caused the electronic gear selection module to fail. the failure placed the occupants of the vehicle in extreme peril because it was sudden and on a busy interstate highway. there was absolutely no place to pull off of the roadway because of ongoing construction. the dealer representative stated that this was a common occurrence and that the dealer had replaced thousands of these modules.

my 2008 dodge charger se plus started to overheat. i pulled over, popped the hood and saw 3 of the radiator fan blades broken off and stuck in the radiator. i googled the issue and found many other dodge charger owners that had the same issue. i also found that in 2011 chrysler issued "customer service notification l08" for 52,000 2006-2008 models for this exact problem. i called chrysler and discovered that my vin was not on that list so they were unable to help with "my" problem. i also quickly became aware that many other complaints were made with the same issue as mine with chrysler excluding their vehicles from any recall or customer service notification. this is unacceptable and the csn l08 needs to include a wider range of vehicles.

cooling fan hit fan shroud breaking off a piece that hit the radiator. . this caused loss of radiator coolant. fans and radiator had to be replaced along with coolant. according to dodge forum this problem has been recalled on some same vehicles (2008 chargers) but mine has not been recalled or notified that this could occur. fortunately the car was at idle when this happened. no injury occurred. this is a design defect or part failure and owners should be compensated for towing and repair.
