Defect Description:
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
My family took a trip from Colorado to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. I began feeling a strange sway in the trailer about half-way through Grand Tetons National Park. When we arrived at our campground in Yellowstone, I noticed that I was unable to level the camper properly and began looking at potential causes. The I-Beam type frame broke at and around where the rear axle mount shackle is welded to the frame. The frame itself is what broke, and not the welds of the shackle. I have been trying to work with the dealership that I purchased the camper-trailer form in 2021, since August of 2023, but the manufacturer of the camper (Heartland) and the manufacturer of the frame and axles (Lippert) have so far refused to honor the 3 year structural warranty. Multiple RV owner forums have discussed and provided photos of very similar as well as identical issues involving Lippert RV Frames and Heartland Trailers dating back to 2019/2020. Several of those forums suggest that everyone experiencing the problems should file a complaint with the NTSB.
