on june 24, 2005, i purchased a new 2006 chrysler 300c srt8. i currently have 1972 miles on my vehicle. i have been having a problem with the braking performance of my vehicle that has not been resolved after several repair attempts. the vehicle was purchased for the purpose of enjoyment and my expectations are not being met. upon application of the brakes, my vehicle makes a very loud squeaking sound that lessens the value of the vehicle and the implied comfort that a reasonable person should expect from his/her vehicle. in accordance with my service manual, on numerous occasions, i have promptly taken the vehicle to the local chrysler service department and requested that the situation be corrected. my requests for correction have not been met. the service dealer has informed me that they are aware of the problem but have not done anything to correct it. they have stated that the rotors may be too small and need to be changed. *nm

there's a miss in the engine when driving at level or steady speed ...doesn't matter how fast or how slow.. gear shifter is hanging up and hard to get out of park to drive... gas mileage is a lot less than rated... *nm

dt: while driving on the highway at 35 mph the front right passenger side axle broke off with the wheel intact. this happened without warning, no previous incidents. the vehicle skidded to the side of the road, and this was where the vehicle came to a stop. no other vehicles were involved. witnesses called police who quickly arrived on the scene. the vehicle was towed to a garage. the vehicle was left behind at the garage, and the consumer wanted to continue her trip and got a rental car to proceed further. the consumer was instructed to file complaint by the insurance adjustor. *ak

seat belt won't release when belted. my 4 month old 2006 chrysler 300 decided that it would not release the seat belt when the red release button was pushed. it would take 2-10 presses for it to release. it was replaced under warranty without incident, but a coworker mentioned his minivan was doing the same thing (had not repaired it yet), and i wanted to make sure this was being watched. in an emergency, this could be a real problem. *nm

i purchase a 300 touring on nov 5 2006. this was a brand new car with only 4 mile. the check engine light came on the first time on nov 17. i contacted the dealership and took the car in. i was told that they did a diagnostic test and didn't see any code indicating that anything was wrong. the light was reset and the car was return to me. i drove it again for several days and the light came back on again for the second time nov 23 2006. i contact the dealership again and took the car in. i was told that when the tech started the car he didn't see the light on. i was told to take the car home. when the problem started the car had less than 1500 miles. i don't feel safe driving this car. i have the feeling the dealership is just resetting the light and not trying to fix the problem. i did notice on your site that this was a problem with the 300 touring. *jb

wife drives 2006 chrysler 300srt-8 normal driver no speeding, no hard braking, car just has 10,000 miles bought it last year. the rotors are already worn and the brakes have worn out more than of usual wear. there is no reason for this wear to be at this time.*ak

my 2006 chrysler 300 with 6800 miles on it has been in the shop twice for the a/c and has not yet been fixed. after traveling for a distance, a/c stops blowing cold air. the first time it went to the shop, they did not detect anything and told me to bring it in when it is accruing. the second time it stopped, i drove straight to the dealer with it not working and they still told me it is not giving any code to tell them what is wrong so they cant fix anything. they agreed with me that something is wrong, but they could not determine it. so i have a new car with an a/c that just stops when it wants, and i am just supposed to deal with it as they will say. *nm

on 1/25/06 i lost all acceleration on my 2006 chrysler 300c 4dr. sedan. the engine was running, pressing the accelerator revved the engine but their was absolutely no acceleration. luckily there was a shoulder, i was in the right lane and was able to coast over before being struck by the truck behind me. the vehicle was "repaired" by the dealer (mcdonough chrysler in east brunswick, nj) and returned to me on 2/10/06. the same thing happened to my wife while driving south on us route #1. this time there was no shoulder and the tractor trailer behind her only avoided hitting her by swerving to the left and going around her. when the vehicle was towed the tow truck operator made a comment that he tows "about 20 of these cars a week." this may be an exaggeration but it would seem to indicate a serious problem. *nm

front end accident at speed in excess of 20 mph with side of another car that came through a stop sign causing significant front end damage to my 2006 chrysler 300. the air bags did not deploy and i hit my head on windshield or steering wheel. car is at autobody shop now. *jb

dt*: the contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the clutch was depressed and all the transmission fluid leaked out of the vehicle. the dealership replaced a transmission seal. also, the power steering fluid was leaking and the dealership has ordered a new rack and pinion assembly. there has also been a noise under the dash, but the dealership was unable to determine a problem.

when vehicle is placed in reverse, you must keep your foot on the brake, as the car rolls forward (this is on any slight incline) does this everytime. chrysler says, i have to keep my foot on brake when going in reverse to keep car from rolling forward. feels like the reverse gear is not locking in place as it is supposed to. safety issue . *nm

i rented a chrysler 300 and discovered what i feel are two potential safety hazards. 1.) the cruise control is mounted just above the turn signal. when exiting the highway, i started to signal a right turn and realized that the lever felt too small. luckily i moved my hand to the signal indicator. if i had lifted the cruise control lever, the car would have tried to resume the speed i had been using on the highway (65 mph). 2.) the top of the steering wheel covers the speedometer. drivers need to duck down to look through the spokes to see their speed. the wheel is adjustable, i had it at the bottom. i am six feet tall. *nm

bought chrysler 300 srt8 late august 2005. complained about brake squeal and dust/excessive brake dust. took car in for warranty service with 17,000 miles. only to be advised that there was a technical service bulletin issued, but if car not brought in before 12,000 miles/12 months the repair will be approx. $865 for brake pads and resurfacing rotors. i am unable to find tech bulletin referred to. *nm

acquired 2006 300c - 2/1/2006 - w/continental tires. noticed cupping on left front tire at 3,00 miles. dealer checked alignment, suspension, etc. and said: "everything is within specs" and rotated tires. service advisor stated tires should be rotated every 3,000 miles (?????). follow-up call w/service manager - stated that the continental tires are "very soft" and wear prematurely. asked about the "cradle mod" - and he stated that the "cradle mod" and revised alignment specs would have been applied to this vehicle, since it is a 2006. left front tire is now cupping again at 6,000 miles. why are these tires performing so badly when goodyear tires (also shipped on this vehicle) are performing ok? why would chrysler continue to ship these vehicles w/the continental tires? *nm

car became unpredictable touch the accelerator it would lunge when in gear, idle was erratic was afraid to drive it. so it has been sitting until my appointment date that is 7-6-06. i went out to see if i could drive it. so with two malfunction indicators it will be towed to dealer. *jb

dt*: the contact stated after shifting the transmission from park to reverse, the brake pedal was released and the vehicle accelerated on its own. the brake pedal was depressed again, but the vehicle did not respond. the vehicle stopped after hitting a ditch. there was minor damage to the vehicle and no injuries. the vehicle was towed the dealership, the computer stored no codes and the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. updated 8/1/2006 - the consumer's vehicle started electrical problems a week after it was purchased. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times for repairs. the radio went out then came back on. the all the panel light went out. the dealer replaced the cluster. the esp bas light illuminated on the dash. the dealer replaced the parking brake switch. the driver's side window auto up function failed. the dealer calibrated the auto up function. when turning the key to start the vehicle it doesn't start. sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries before the vehicle will start. the dealer replaced the wireless control module. ignition switch was replaced because the vehicle wouldn't start. *nm

PARKING BRAKE

we purchased a chrysler 300c on 9/05/2006. on 9/6/06 i accidentally touched the parking brake & the light came on. i checked my manual & attempted to release the brake by pressing down as hard as i could,then pulling the brake release. the light remained on. according to the manual, this indicated a brake problem so i contacted the dealership. on 9/8/06 i took it in to the service dept.who said to press all the way to the floor, release the brake & lightly lift up on the foot brake. on 9/10/06 i again touched the brake causing the light to come on.on 9/11/06 i took it in to the service dept. & spoke to them & the general manager. both gentlemen agreed it should be corrected, but they are not able to fix a manufacturing defect. so i called the chrysler corp. customer center. the man told me it is not a defect just because i am not able to press the pedal all the way to the floor any more than it is a defect if i am unable to open a door! i am not a 100 pound woman ! i tried with both feet, got out & tried with my hand. he told me if the light remains on & something happens to the brakes that i am unaware of and causes an accident, that i will be responsible. this is not acceptable. *nm

dt*: the contact stated while applying brake pressure at 30 mph on a wet road, there was an increased stopping distance and a loss of vehicle control without warning. the vehicle left the roadway and descended down an embankment. no injuries were sustained, but the vehicle sustained minor damage. the police were alerted, and a report was taken. the vehicle was towed to a dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem. additionally, there was a nhtsa recall; #06v149000 performed on the vehicle concerning the brakes however, the recall did not remedy the problem. the decreased braking force and increased stopping distance continued to persist. the manufacturer was alerted. *ak

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

dt*: the contact stated after starting the vehicle, the gear would only shift into second and then locked up. there was no warning signal prior to the incident. the vehicle was taken to 2 different service dealers on 4 occasions. the first dealer determined that there was a procedure in the owner's manual to address this problem. when the vehicle was in the cold limp mode, the contact was suppose to stop the vehicle and move the selector level to the park position, turn off the engine and wait approx. 10 seconds. after 10 seconds, the engine should be restarted and the shift lever should be moved to the desire gear. on the second visit to the previous dealer, the transmission control module was replaced. on the third visit, the problem could not be duplicated but codes po763 and po762 were identified by diagnostic testing. the codes were cleared and the vehicle was road tested. on the fourth visit, the vehicle was hooked up to a computer recorder underneath the dashboard and code po762 was found. during this period, the vehicle was in the cold limp mode but after the transmission was adjusted the vehicle returned back to normal. the dealer contacted onstar (for the navigational system) for the vehicle to be hooked up to the monitor - case#8547343 was provided. the manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer, who removed and replaced the valve body. there was a nhtsa recall # 05v460000 pertaining to the power train: automatic transmission. the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.

i took my car to the dealer to find out why i had these big grooves in my rotors and a grinding noise and they have 2 bulletins out on the brake problem but would not fix them due to car being past 12,000 miles. these brakes could be faulty the vehicle is a 300 srt /i took it to a brake specialist and they told me they were defective and now the dealer wont fix them because the car has 16,000 miles on it. these cars brakes could lead to safety problems if not recalled. *jb

i just purchased a chrysler 300c back in july. i had to return to the dealership 4 times for the ez-up window on the driver side malfunctioning. they stated to me that chrysler knows about the problem but don't know how to fix it. every time they reset the computer, the window works for about 3 days then stops working. this is getting annoying to me. *jb

i have a 2006 chrysler 300, my engine started knocking, i had my vehicle towed to the nearest dealership were they informed me that i have sludge in my engine and there is nothing else that could be done until i provide maintenance record, the blame was placed on me, the consumer. i was told that i neglected my new vehicle that i owe 32k on. how crazy is that. the car was 10 months old at the time i took it to the dealer for repair and also had a oil change the day of my car being towed to the dealer for repair. my car gears are not shifting properly, and my engine at 21,000 miles should not be sludged even after the oil changes were done on the vehicle. chrysler along with the dealership refuse to repair my car and the recall. they told me since i was unable to provide documentation of my oil changes that my repair is not covered under the manufactures warranty. i advised chrysler that surely they would understand that if i have 3500.00 wheel on my car that surely they would know spending under 25.00 for an oil change is not a big deal. i have the 2.7l engine that is known for sludged engines and catastrophic engine failures. i plan to rent a bill board on one of the major highways in my area to advise consumers beware of the 2.7 liter engines. i plan to use the local media, newspaper and picket the chrysler plant and dealership in my area. i was told to come pick up my vehicle after they have had my car for over a month because i will start being billed for storage charges. i advised him that i refuse to pick up that vehicle until the repairs and recall has been done. the car is consider a safety hazard and still shows an incomplete recall. *nm

dt*: the contact stated while traveling various speeds, the rear seatbelt did not restrain the child safety seat tightly. the child was able to get out from under the seatbelt. the lap and shoulder belt did not properly secure the child. the service dealer was contacted, who suggested that the manufacturer be notified. the manufacturer was contacted, and expressed that the seat belt would tighten when the brakes were applied. the contact disagreed because the child would be thrown forward if the brakes were applied while the child was not restrained properly. there was no problem with the child seat itself.

i recently purchased a new chrysler 300m (limited edition) 2006. weeks after purchasing, the engine stalls and then resumes while driving; the engine shuts completely off while stopped; and, the engine, after starting it once it has shut-off, would not go in the appropriate gear shift. the vehicle was taken to the dealership 6 times and the problem still exists. i have been without my vehicle close to 2-months. every time they have returned my vehicle, it has to be returned for the same cause. *jb

tl*- the contact stated he took his 2006 m300 for service at his local dealership. while driving the vehicle completely lost power. he began to smell smoke in the passinger compartment of the vehicle. he got out the vehicle he notice flames coming from the back where the battery is located. he contacted the local fire dept. the contact believes that his vehicle was not serviced correctly. no police report was taken.

tl* - the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact's tire pressure indicator lights became illuminated on the dashboard. the incident occurred while driving at 35 mph. when the dashboard warning indicator lights are lit, the vehicle stalls. the tire pressure indicator light for the rear tires has been failing since august of 2006. the entire dash board warning light system has turned on 2 to 3 times. the tire pressure indicator light illuminates on the dash board after driving 10 miles per hour. *nm

my new 2006 chrysler 300 c with all wheel drive has a shake in the steering wheel at approx. 50 mph and the whole car develops a complete body shake at higher speeds thats feels like the wheels are gonna leave the car. the dealer road force balanced the existing tires and could not resolve the problem. then they changed the tires and it still did it . they then sent the car out for more roadforce balancing. after several attemps and enough wheel weights to balance the wheels of 2 cars, the problem was minimized but still not corrected. at highway speeds the car still feels unsafe,and it still shakes at low speed sometimes. i was told that the all wheel drive models have an unknown problem and i could consider a new car replacement, but shouldnt buy another all wheel drive because they all have this problem and that i was welcome to test drive another car exactly like mine and i would see that it to has the same problem . they have offered an extended warranty free of charge but they cant do anything else about the cars problem until perhaps enough complaints were filed to force chrysler to do something about it.i dont know if its a wheel problem or drivetrain or other but i fear whatever this problem is it may eventually endanger my life as well as others.

was driving on i95 interstate when the car, chrysler 300 2006 2.7l engine,started costing and the engine rpm's revving high. this stayed like this for approx. 20 seconds and then slammed hard back into gear causing the car to be almost out of control. this type of incident has happened at east 10 other times since the car was purchased new. have brought it back to the dealership at least five times with no satisfaction at all. i have been told "this problem does not exist",or "we can't find the problem"or" chrysler does not know what causes this to happen" some times the car just shuts down when it loses power. this is a major problem that other chrysler owners have had and chrysler continues to ignore.

car check engine light comes on briefly, shake, engine shuts off while driving, backing up, or at a stop on several occasions. problem started in oct 2007. taken to two different chrysler dealers (whitten bros. & crossroads, va) and told that no code found to show a problem when hooked to the computer. second dealer experienced problem while test driving my car, but the code resets itself quickly and the dealer is not able to diagnose a problem. i was told that i would have to wait until the car completely stop running and the check engine light comes on and stay on. i have talked to several other 300 owners in my area to discover that they are experiencing the same problem and being told the same thing, but we are to believe that this is a mystery and the dealer has never heard or seen this problem before.

1. driving on an overpass. made a left turn toward ramp to get onto i5 north. 2. during the turn, i heard and felt a huge "clunk" sound from the right front of car. i continued to drive thinking i may have just run over a rock or something. after a few weeks the car began pulling to the right while driving and eventually began vibrating harshly when driving at highway speeds. 3. being a "shade tree" mechanic, i pulled the wheels and checked the suspension. i noted that the tie rod ends seemed to be shot. this is a 2006 chrysler 300 touring with only 62,000 miles! i purchased the parts and replaced the outer tie rod ends. i took note that the original equipment tie rod ends did not have any way of lubricating the tie rod ball joint. there were no grease points that would allow proper maintenance of this part. i removed the boot from one of the old ends and noticed there was very little grease in the joint and there was scarring on the ball where there had been metal to metal contact between the ball and the housing. this caused the ball to wear prematurely and eventually caused the part to fail completely. a part of my oil change ritual is to have the lubrication points greased. tie rod ends are moving parts which need lubrication in order to remain in good condition. the fact that chrysler is using parts with no provision for lubrication is insidious and smacks of extortion.

it the problem begin when i noticed my engine light indicator going on and off. when i took it to the chrysler dealership, they told me that it was nothing wrong with it. they only said that because they noticed that the engine light indicator was no longer on. but when i left the dealership, the light came back on so i turned around and when back. they did a diagnostic test and realized that it was the esv valve. the esv valve tells the gasoline where to go in the motor. so now my vehicle is consuming more gas than before. nothing was done to correct the problem because i was told that the mechanical problem wasn't covered under my warranty.

took car in for oil change and to have front end shaking checked out. was informed that the front tie rod was defective. since i had an extended chrysler warranty i took it to the local dealership for repair and found that it needed replacement but was not covered under the warranty. this is a 2006 vehicle with under 50,000 miles. never had a tie rod go bad in anything else i've owned--and it looks like i'm not the only one.

while working in roanoke, va i was leaving the mall and was behind another vehicle at a stop light. light changed and proceeded to make a left turn and the car spun around twice on a four lane highway. i was not going no more than 15 mph because i was behind the other vehicle. experience from driving in alaska on ice, i was able to maintain calmness and not slam on brakes and keep the car under control. the car rested in the turning lane in the opposite direction. i know the other drivers was as scared as i was not knowing if i was going to slam into them because i was so out of control. i contacted mike an engineer at chrysler's headquarters and left him a message as to what had happened and to this date he has not responded. i have a history with them because my car also shuts off while driving. chrysler flew a team of engineers in for a week to check out the car, but they weren't able to duplicate the problem. i was told until the car stops running or the check engine light comes on and stays it's nothing they can do, but they will cover the cost of repairs once the problem is found. i hope it doesn't take the loss of life before they will issue a recall on these cars. maybe if we all sent letters to the ceo something will be done before we have another toyota crisis. robert nardelli, ceo

2006 chrysler 300 limited rwd - could not put car into drive. last use was fine, but went to use car next day and couldn't move shifter into drive. putting foot on brake allowed shift handle it to move right further but not down to next gear (reverse). rocking car did nothing. researched on internet and found reference to shifter pink plastic piece breaks off which attached to return spring. called dealer - told need to have it towed in and replace shifter - they're just starting to see this problem more frequently. removed silver shifter trim bezel, disconnected small cable from key switch interlock, then rotated pink plastic piece under the front of the shifter (not the pink plastic tab on the side of the shifter) so i could put car in neutral and use the car and avoid the hassle and embarrassment of towing. drove car to dealer the next day. they replaced the shifter - about a $500 job but given a goodwill exchange so it cost $100. since i live in the phoenix metro area (read hot - hot - hot) - this will happen again in another 3 years because the same cheap replacement part was installed. stevie wonder could see this is an outright designed in defect - using some cheap pink plastic part in a high use area. there supposedly is a metal replacement part to fix this but you need to tear apart the car and the shifter assembly to replace it. you need to remove a bunch of trim panels and bust a knuckle or two to get the shifter out. i would have had it out in about 10 minutes if they hadn't molded the "large" base plate as part of the shifter which makes the small shifter assembly twice the size of the opening.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

in october of 2997, i purchased a 2006 chrysler 300 brand new. after driving it for a few months i realized that the cruise control light that was supposed to be on the instrument panel was not illuminating. upon taking the car to the dealer for repair, i was told that chrylser replaced the light on the instrument panel with a small light on the control stalk that operates the cruise control. i have to question whether this replacement is a safe situation. i cannot see the light on the stalk without leaning forward to see over the steering wheel hub. i would think that the purpose of the light on the instrument panel would be to constantly remind the driver that the cruise control is on. if the driver cannot see the light, the value of it is lost, and the vehicle can be operated in a less safe mode then intended by the nhtsa. i ask whether the nhtsa approved chryler's repositioning and redesign of the cruise control light. if the change did not receive the proper approval, i am asking that a recall order bb issued, forcing chrysler to install the cruise control light where it was originally designed to be positioned. i really doubt whether the current design meets federal motor vehicle safety standards. you would have received this letter sooner, but the u.s. postal service returned by letter twice, claiming the address on your web site was incorrect. thank you.

check engine light has appeared on an average of 1 time per month since purchase of the vehicle 8/4/07. repeated visits to dealership gegnas chrysler in philadelphia pa has not corrected issue to date. upon connection to diagnostic machinery various failure codes have appeared with one in common p0300 that relates specifically to multiple cylinder misfire or rough idle. this apparently is due to valves that are slow to close due to a build up of carbon on the valve system . two chrysler dealerships (brandywine chrysler and gegnas claim to have performed this tsb each and it took less than a day to do. i have received a qualified second opinion from midas muffler that has informed me that this is not a one day job as it required removal of the manifold and cleaning and possible rotation of valves and servicing of valve springs. i have all receipts documenting the 11 returns of the vehicle to the dealership and will gladly provide them upon request. 1-800-my lemon has been sent this information as the check engine light again reappeared 3/30/09 and after asking to assist me with the car due to loss of power (they are close to my home) they provided written documentation of the code that was found and assisted me with transferring my car to dealership where no action was taken because the check engine light was not lit despite being handed the service bulletin physically by me that day. the owner stated "he needed to see the light lit- a big game that has been going on for over a year now! the check engine light reappeared 4/5/09 and i spoke with the owner of the dealership again 4/6 and arranged to bring the car back. this morning 4/8 the light is out again. two sensors have been replaced out of four on the car sensor (1/1 and b2/s2), the pcn has been reset, valve spring retainer locks have been replaced , all spark plugs have been changed out, air filter changed, map sensor replaced, fuel system cleaned, egr valve replaced. what else is left to re left!

the strut tension arms and tie rod ends had to be replaced at 68,000 miles. they were rusted due to there was no nipple to lubricate them. the mechanic said in another 60,000 miles the same thing will happen. this was an $800 repair.

at 36,000 miles the inner tie rods are worn and very loose. outters are worn but not as badly. car is out of warranty (over 36 months). when i called the dealer they said this is a common problem and they have seen it happen at less than 36,000 miles. failure consequences will be complete loss of steering control and accidents. this a serious and dangerous manufacturing defect and should be addressed immediately.

between multipoint vehicle inspections performed in 12/2008 and 11/2009), my vehicle developed a rear axle differential seal leak. with less than 59000 miles normal vehicle operation and less than three years of ownership, i am confronted with a defective rear axle differential seal. without replacement of this expensive factory defect, there is a possibility for the rear axle to over heat and possibly ignite the vehicle afire.

2006 chrysler 300 limited with 3.5 and auto trans. transmission shifter has failed 2 times in the last year. 1st time it was stuck in park and would not move, the vehicle towed to chrysler dealer and shifter repaired. iaw dealer the plastic clip inside the shifter broke. 2nd time the shifter would not go to park and could not remove the key from the ignition. drove the vehicle back to the dealer and the shifter was repaired again, a new plastic piece used again. chrysler i was told is aware of the problem. will this happen again yes but when no idea. if chrysler is aware of the problem (and not the only one going thru this) why isn't chrysler trying to solve the problem? instead they keep replacing the part as it breaks. what will happen when the warranty expires on the vehicle? will i incur the expenses to have it repaired.

i own a 2006 chrysler 300 and the shifting lever gets stuck in park and wont move. other times the lever does not properly seat in park, when this happens the vehicle can not be started as it is not fully seated in park. found recall on 05-06 300's for this issue, was told by chrysler that my car was not part of the recall and there was nothing they could do. recall states there is an issue with the cup plug that retains the parking pawl shaft and the vehicle may not be able to achieve 'park' position. this has been happening for about 4 weeks now.

we bought a chrysler 300 august 14th 2009 at 75 south in crittenden, kentucky. we were told the passenger airbag was not working and they wanted us to bring it back to fix it. they tried to fix it as a gesture of good faith they said, but it did not fix it. we have called chrysler and told them the problem but we were never contacted back. so the light still says we have no passenger airbag working.

7/16/2010 i parked on the street in front of my house. i turned the car off and decided i wanted to park closer to the curb. i turned the car on and it would not shift out of park. i had the car towed on 7/18/2010. the tow truck driver said he knew exactly what was wrong with the car, and that in the last 2 weeks he had towed close to 20 chrysler brand vehicles with the same problem. the shifters are having to be replaced, because of a broken part. i was fortunate i was at home and had already parked. needless to say i have to pay to have the car repaired $350 for parts and labor. i'm grateful it didn't happen in a different gear, in traffic and on the high way. the dealer will start work on my chrysler 300 tomorrow and it is my intention to inquire about the old part.

lights flashing on and off this is the first time it has done it but i think that is enough cause this is a huge safety issue when your driving at night and all the sudden you have no lights and once i pulled over they still continued to flash on and off i will not trust this car for along time now after dark and that is really sad cause i really enjoy this car.

i recently had new tires mounted on my vehicle and was told that the tire rods were worn badly. i just passed 42,000 miles on my vehicle. i was told by my mechanic that this has been an issue on many chrysler 300 models around the same mileage. there are even two options for repair. you can have the tie rods replaced with standard equipment but will most likely have the same issue or chrysler came out with an upgraded replacement with a lifetime warranty. obviously chrysler knows that this is an issue and should be an actual recall. i will be having the tie rods replaced tomorrow.

powertrain control module - vehicle has been at dealership for over 1 month with a bad pcm module. this is covered under the 8 year / 80,000 mile factory warranty. chrysler is unable to provide the part to fix the vehicle. i was told that the part is on a "mega backorder" and it is one of the most common issues known with the vehicle. i was told there are over 75 vehicles that are currently on the waiting list for the pcm. failure of the pcm causes the vehicle to begin idling roughly at random times. the throttle control and esp lights on the dash begin to flash. the car loses acceleration and you can not gain speed over about 20 mph. eventually, the vehicle dies. if you take the key out, you can always start it again. sometimes the vehicle will not make it 20 feet, and sometimes it will make it for 2 days without an issue. my vehicle failed on the interstate and i was put in a potentially life-threatening situation because i had no warning. i could now be without a vehicle for months due to the shortage of this part. chrysler is now in contact with the vendor of the part to try to get an estimate of when the part will be made available. they are unwilling to assist me with a rental car, loaner vehicle, or vehicle of comparable value. i am very disappointed with this vehicle and the chrysler corporation.

my 2006 chyrsler 300 has ductwork problems. the heat will not go off! also the seat warmers are very warm even when they suppose to be off. it's like sitting in a fire while driving. this has to be unsafe. call dealer marty cancillas and service technician is aware of issue but wants to charge a $139 diagnostic fee to tell me what he already knows to be wrong. he said it was the ductwork or modor motor or some component of the ductwork in dashboard area. please investigate.

upon starting car (2006 chrysler 300), would not shift out of "park". attempted multiple times. tow truck had to be called. tow truck driver stated that this happens a lot with this model car. while en route, recommended removal of the panel around the shifter where there is a release-type mechanism. multiple attempts did not release shifter. tow truck driver arrived at scene and eventually released car into neutral. he said that as long as we did not place into park, we should be able to drive the car home. decision was made to tow car home due to the remote location of stranded car and late hour. will be contacting dealership in morning.

car is stuck in park leaving me stranded. manufacturer issued k39 customer satisfaction recall letter which describes the same problem that i have and suggest that the part should be replaced however they refuse to replaced my part even though it is the same problem, same part, same vehicle, and same year and make as my vehicles described in letter. you can quickly identify this as a defective part by googling chrysler 300 stuck in park. it is the same part in all 300s made that year, why should it only apply to some vehicles? does not make since unless company is just trying to make it look like they are doing something when in fact they are doing nothing to address defective part that breaks with no warning and leaves drivers stranded.

yesterday, i came out to my chrysler 300 (2006) to start it and the gear shifts would not work. i could not put the car into drive, neutral, reverse or any other shift. when i notified a chrysler dealer about it i was told that there had in fact been many vehicles with this same problem and they had been recalled. however, when he looked up my vehicle, although it had the same problem was not on the recall list. when i notified chrysler headquarters, they told me the reason was because it was not built in one of the plants the other vehicles were built in. further more they told me that because my warranty had expired i was unable to get any help. also because the previous owner may have caused the damage. so when i called them the next day to see if this decision could be overturned they told me my case was closed and would not be reopened. now, i am stuck paying the bill to get my car fixed in addition to facing a loss for work.

when i started 2006 chrysler 300 and attempted to put in gear, the gear shifter would not work. the vehicle was stuck in park. i had to have vehicle towed to dealership and they had to replace the transmission shifter assembly. i had to pay for towing ($130.40), rental car($86.00), and to replace the shifter assembly($249.18)! the service rep said to keep receipt because this was a big problem with that particular model and this should be a recall repair. but not at that time. the car had 40,556 miles on it when this incedent happened.

i purchased a brand new chrysler 300 in july of 2006. despite frequent oil changes, routine maintenance, my engine seized at 43,510 miles on october 4, 2008 , requiring replacement. my dealership closed and i was informed by chrysler that warranty period ended. it was a huge blow financially but i managed to have a rebuilt engine installed at a cost of $5,000. i had oil changed every 4000 to 6000 miles but despite that my engine has failed again at 83,000 miles. the mechanic said my oil, coolant levels were fine but the 300 is notorious for this. i?m beyond belief to need a 3rd engine for a car i still owe money on. looking online to see if others have similar problems, i found hundreds of owners on blogs, face book and other social media who had the same problem with the 2006 2.7l 300. i can not believe a recall has not been done. many people think the bbb in a non profit organization but they collect fees, rarely lowering rating of companies who pay them. despite the fact ford sells more cars , chrysler has close to 10 times the number of complaints not resolved to owners satisfaction. 10 x! i ask the nhtsa to look into how the bbb can justify the same rating with such a huge difference in unresolved complaints. the 2006 chrysler 300 has a engine that easily fails for a number of reasons. i have owned many cars, with far more miles and never replaced a seized engine. now i have 2006 300, purchased brand new, that failed at 43,000 and now again at 83,000! i know how to care for my vehicle, routine maintenance requirements, but chrysler seems to put all the blame on owners. please do what your organization was intended and help to make sure others do not make the same mistake as me. chrysler spends money on marketing, cool looking cars, without much concern for flaws with the engine.

extreme shudder and vibration while car is in drive. when you manually go through the gears at high rpm the problem isn't as bad. but at regular driving speeds the problem is very apparent. it was diagnosed as a bad torque converter from a aamco transmission shop. i had the original torque converter replaced with a genuine daimler chrysler mercedes part. the problem went away for 3 months and now its back. the warranty for the part was for only 90 days so i can't even get warranty work on the part. i believe that the torque converters are defective. it cost me $1600 to have it replaced originally. i don't have another $1600.00 to have it done again.

the pink plastic shift interlock latch broke. the plastic breaks from continual foreseeable use. failure causes the inability to move the shifting mechanism out of park and thus drive the vehicle. according to youtube.com [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uamy_m7ttk], this seems to occur on 2006 and 2007 models. i am not certain, but 2008 and newer models have a part that is green and does not seem as likely to break. furthermore, mileage or age does not appear to be a factor. mine broke before 75,000 miles and slightly after 6 years. dorman makes an metal aluminum replacement part ranging from $22 to $40 depending on the retailer. online is less expensive. the fact that there is a metal, durable replacement part is evidence that this is an increasing problem. moreover, it is believed that chrysler knows of this problem and has failed to recall its vehicles. furthermore, after calling chrysler 800 customer service # (reference #22152872), i was informed that there was no recall on my specific car, that chrysler would not even consider covering the cost unless i first went to a chrysler dealership at which a certified chrysler mechanic would have to confirm that the pink plastic shift interlock latch was the issue. diagnostic alone costs $150, but may be applied to repairs. i then called the chrysler dealership in tustin, ca and a servicing manager informed me that he was aware of the issue, but had yet to see chrysler cover the estimated $500 cost even though the replacement part is $22 to $40. this is a products liability case: chrysler is (1) a commercial supplier of a (2) defective designed product under the consumer expectation, risk-utility, and the feasible alternative tests and is the (3) actual and (4) proximate cause of the defect which causes property damages. there are no applicable defenses. this also a potential class action lawsuit.

the engine started ticking noticeably on the upper right side of the engine. the noise was typical of a lifter or worn rocker arm. about a month earlier the car had a shifting problem with the automatic transmission on an interstate highway under acceleration. the car was checked for the transmission problem at a chrysler dealership but nothing was found after diagnostic testing was completed they did advise they found the strut bushings were in need of replacement. after hearing the engine noises the car was again taken to the chrysler dealership. both sides of the engine had the rocker arm assemblies replaced. the bushings for the struts were replaced. both of the tie rod ends were found to be in need of replacement while they were trying to realign the front end. the alignment was needed after replacing the strut bushings. the car was well maintained and oil changes & lubes were done at or near every 3,500 miles. there are a massive amount of replacements/repairs being done for these particular parts failing at a low mileage.these parts are failing prematurely and chrysler should take the initiative & recall these components. reimbursing customers that have become dissatisfied with their cars and it's manufacturer are being burdened with unnecessary repair costs. i was fortunate enough to have purchased an extended warranty which covered all the costs (over $2,000.00) . i still had to pay the deductible. nhtsa needs to find out what is happening and hold the manufacturer accountable. this was the first time i had to have repairs done since purchasing the car in 2008 with about 30,000 miles on the odometer. dependability is one of the most important parts of owning a car and we all pay a lot of money to purchase/lease them. paying for routine maintenance is expected but exorbitant repair costs are unacceptable when a car is properly cared for and not abused.

bought a 2006 chrysler 300, within a week, engine and brake light came on. took to back to dealer, they replaced front brakes and rotors and said machine said multiple misfires due to bad gas. car drove like it wanted to stall and would accelerate on its on. within a couple of days engine light came back on. took car back again to dealership. service department said they could not duplicate the problem. again within days engine light was back on and it had accelerated a couple of times by itself. i was in a parked position, put car in drive a barely touched gas pedal and it accelerated on its on and i hit a pole. i called chrysler customer service. they towed the car and did an evaluation on the car and they said they could not find anything that would cause the car to accelerated on its own. they were 2 codes multiple misfires and sensor voltage high. this vehicle has accelerated on its own, my husband and i have both experienced the acceleration.

the shifter detent in my 300 broke without any warning. i was able to change gears without any problems until this incident when i went to drive my car, and i couldn't get the gear out of park. when i had the car towed to the chrysler car dealer i was told that this part had broke. their corrective action was to rebuild shifter assembly. the part number used to fix the problem was 68088259ab - lever kit shifterint. i asked what i could have done to cause this part to brake so i can prevent it from happening again, and the service associate told me that it was nothing i could have done to cause it. i didn't recover the old part from the car dealer. i spoke with others chrysler and dodge owners, and they said they have experienced the same problem with their 300 or charger. this piece shouldn't brake without any damage to it or wear out. i haven't heard of this problem occurring with any other car manufacturers, and the fact that it is occurring to many people with the same vehicle means that this must be manufacturer issue. this problem should be corrected, and chrysler/dodge should be responsible for these occurrences.

after refilling the vehicle with gasoline i travel about a mile from the service station and while coming to a traffic light the vehicle rpm began to decrease until the car engine shut off; i was able to restart the engine and the vehicle drove a short distance and began to stall again. i restarted the vehicle and was able to get the vehicle off the road into a parking lot; after sitting briefly i restarted the vehicle and drove it to tire kingdom to have it checked, the technician scan the vehicle and determined that there was no codes available to determined what caused the malfunction. he took the vehicle for a test drive but was not able to duplicate the discrepancy; in his opinion since the vehicle tank had just got filled more that likely the problem was caused by a vapor lock. i was told since the problem could not be duplicated to continue with my travel and if the problem returned to return the vehicle back for evaluation.

i went home for lunch friday, july 27, afterwards i could not get my car out of park. i called for a tow truck, and the driver showed me how to get my car out of park with a screw driver. he also told me that the chryslers, and dodges had been recalled for this shifter problem. i drove my car to the dealership and had them to search for a recall. they couldnot find any, i had my care repaired for $381.00. i went home and a friend with a 2008 dodge avenger said he had this repaired (under recall) on his vehicle in 2011 at the same dealership that i had mine repaired(at my expense). there are dozens of complaints for this, but owners are being told that their (vin) is not a part of the recall. how can i have the right make, model, and year vehicle and have the same problem, and be excluded from the recall?????

chrysler 300 with 73000 miles, suddenly will not shift out of park. internet research show service bulletin k39 for just such problem. contacted dealer, was told that my vin does not qualify for free repair. (what vin # does qualify?) quoted $450+. more internet research found details of broken "pink pulley mechanism". removed silver plastic bessel from around gear shifter, i can see the broken part. mechanic video on you tube showed me how to bypass the problem. stick a long handled screw driver down in the hole directly beside the shifter when in park, between the shifter and the cable running from front to back. start the car, press the break, and lightly move the cable towards the steering wheel while pulling the gear shift into gear. works every time. will not damage the vehicle. i'll wait until the inevitable recall happens, and i can make chrysler fix it for free. sad, i love this car, but will not purchase another chrysler when the times comes to trade because of poor customer service.

i have a 2006 chrysler 300 hemi. every since i bought it, i've been having problems with my tires and recently noticed that they are wearing down unevenly and quickly. i only have 46,000 miles on the car. soon after noticing it, i saw on the news that they were doing a recall on continental tires. later on that same day, i talked with a friend who had the exact same car i have. he informed me that he had seen the recall on the news as well. he told me that he had called the number that was given for the company and that they had paid him for each of his tires and also replaced them. i've been trying to get in contact with the company, but i haven't been able to get a hold of anyone by phone nor email. i really need to find out more about the recall and how i can go about getting my tires replaced as soon as possible.

upon driving on the highway the legal speed limit is always 70mph. while following the flow of traffic individuals ahead of me started slowing down to a cruise speed of 40-50mph abruptly. while paying attention to the change in pace i slowed down as well to feel comfortable with the flow of traffic. when checking my rearview mirror to see if there was a opening to change lanes i noticed a ford truck coming from behind at a excelled pace. with seconds before the contact i braced myself for the wreck. without paying attention suddenly the driver from behind ran into my rear of my car. this impact not only shattered my entire rear window, but my truck caved in, both my tail lights were knocked out, and i was knocked into the next far right lane. during the impact i braced myself and hit the steering wheel, my driver side rear mirror was knocked down and the hazard wheel alignment lights came on. while all of this occurred i was shocked my driver side airbag didn't employ. i am a male, 5?8, 160 pounds so i am sure the electronics could tell a person was visibly in the seat. had i not seen the truck come from behind i could've been thrown out the window. i am surprised of the malfunction and wanted to report it.

problem with 2.7 liter engine. dealership said it was negligence on my part. said i didn't do my oil changes correctly, said i would need a new engine. my extended warranty nor chrysler would cover vehicle. took it to another auto service shop. they said i didn't need a new motor. they clean out the heads and engine and said that it was not my fault that the 2.7 liter engine chrysler engine had these problems from day one. i also was informed that there was others told the exact things, that they were at fault and chrysler wouldn't pay. the professional tech's of chrysler also advise against buying this model. also look on the internet and there were people with 20,000 miles with the same problem told the same thing by chrysler. also chrysler does not offer this engine sizes in the new models because of the problems with the 2.7 liters. my car was used at purchase and i average about 10,000 miles a year.

i have a 2006 chrysler 300c bought it new and never had any problems until 2012 when we were traveling for the holidays and stopped to refuel. after filling the tank we started the car and proceeded to drive, the car started bucking and then would shut off. it did this twice before it stopped and then drove fine for the rest of the trip. it did the same thing on our way home after filling the gas tank but after doing it several times it drove fine for the rest of the trip. once home the car drove fine until i filled it up with gas and the problem started again. it bucks and then stalls, sometimes it will start right away and other times i had to let it sit a while. this has happened in the middle of an intersection, at a stop light and while just driving along. this is scary as well as dangerous because not only does it stop anywhere which could cause another car to hit you, the steering wheel locks and on one occasion i almost hit another car because i couldn't steer out of the way during a turn. took it to the dealership and was told i need to replace the gas tank gave me info about cannisters and vapors and not being something that is serviceable. of course it's going to be expensive but this type of problem is a danger on the road could lead to a serious accident.

fueled the vehicle, attendant "topped it off". started vehicle and it sputtered, running poorly as if it had a fuel issue. smelt fuel from under the hood. let vehicle set for 10 minutes, started up vehicle and proceeded to a 4-lane main highway. just as we accelerated from the stop light, the car sputtered, then died. i managed to pull over to the side of the road out of traffic. let the unit set for 10 minutes, ran the vehicle and no further issues that day. at the next fill up, the same pattern emerged. a third incident occurred a few months later and i researched the problem. since that time i have cautioned the fuel attendants to not "top it off" and the issue has not reoccurred.

after filling my tank with gas ( i do not overfill ) i turn my gas cap at least 1/2 turn start the car put it in gear and start driving. after a minute or so the car stalls. i have to stop put it in park turn key to off position and re-start the car. this has happened to me while in an intersection , while making a turn and if your not strong enough to turn the wheel because the power steering pump quit your in trouble big trouble. this stalling happens 2 to 3 times after filling the tank than stops until the next fuel stop. this is a safety issue. you never know exactly when your going to stall but you know it's coming and hope your not crossing traffic or in an intersection. very dangerous ! i have told my dealership of the problem when this started but no action was ever taken. wilde chrysler in waukesha wi.

on 5/22/2013 i went to the store, and when i came out i was unable to get the vehicle out of park. we had to have the vehicle towed home. it has been confirmed that the problem is the transmission gear shift lever interlock return spring hook. which has been in a recall that doesn't include my vin. the dealership states it would have to charge for a new gear shift assembly, which could cost upwards of $400. the dealership and also a customer rep for chrysler states this is a very common problem,but only some vehicles are covered in a recall, but as i stated, my chrysler 300's vin is not included is recall #k39.

all equipment on the dashboard shut down for about 2 minutes. even though i know i was going somewhere around 55 mph, and trying to stay with traffic, i could not tell my speed, the rpm read zero, the gas level read empty, and my speed read zero. then all the dashboard lights came on and all was normal again. this repeated maybe 4-5 times in a row. off for about 2 minutes, on for maybe a minute, then back off. we have experienced all of this happening momentarily (maybe lasting a second) since we bought the car used 1 1/2 years ago. dealership could not get it to happen for them, so they could do nothing for it. this issue has now escalated to a point that i feel it could be dangerous if it continues, or gets worse.

i went to shift my vehicle out of park and realized that the shifter would not move. i tried multiple times and had no luck. i was forced to take the shifter covers off and manually pull the release cable in order to put the car into drive. i called chrysler and was told that a diagnosis alone would be 135.00 dollars. i decided to bring the car to my own mechanic and he discovered that the shift interlock latch was causing the problem. he looked up a recall for 2005-2007 chrysler and told me that chrysler would be able to fix it. i called chrysler and they told me that since my car was produced in canada, it did not meet the requirements for the recall, even though it was the same exact part used on the u.s. assembly lines. chrysler says they are well aware of the shift interlock latch being faulty but refuses to take responsibility. there are many owners out there with the same problem posting to online forums. chrysler needs to fix this issue!

at approximately 12:30pm i got into my vehicle (chrysler 300 touring 2006 model) to drive home. i put my key in the ignition, started my vehicle and then proceeded to change gears from park to reverse. my gear shift was locked/stuck in park. it would not move at all. i then turned my care off and proceeded to try again. i then started up my vehicle (chrysler 300 touring 2006 model) and the gear shift was still stuck in park. i then proceeded to google what was going on with my chrysler 300 and there were several complaints from other chrysler 300 owners on this site with the same exact problem. on this site other chrysler owners stress that this particular problem just happens out of the blue. you never know when it's actually going to happen. it costs $490 to get it fixed plus the amount of money it will cost you to get your vehicle chrysler 300 towed. the other chrysler owners also stress that they've had this same problem with 2005, 2006, and 2007 chrysler 300 touring models. i then proceeded to make several calls to handle my problem as far as towing ect... all i got was the run around and i stressed the issue as far as this particular problem being recalled and it hadn't been. if i knew then what i know now i would of never bought the chrysler 300 touring 2006 model. i don't think it's fair to the customer to have to come out of their pockets for a default that the company made on a vehicle. this model needs to be on the recall list. it is now 4:03pm and myself and my children are still waiting for my car to be towed. ## vin passed ## chrysler 300 touring 2006 ##

car stalls intermittently. will go weeks or even months without incident but then will stall several times when starting. using when stalling process starts it will also die upon stopping. car also will be driving down the street and will not be able to get past 3rd gear. car will redline at about 45 mph but will not shift out of gear. occasionally it will shift roughly and typically when gas is let up it will go into next gear. has been doing these things off and on for the last year or so and when i tell the dealership about the problem they have not been able to diagnose the actual problem.

our chrysler 300c has stopped running while driving at least 10 times over the last year or so. on freeway and city streets. it usually starts back up once your stopped. my wife is afraid to drive it anymore. it is a very scary situation. no engine, no ps and no brakes. no code or check engine light. everyone i have talked to with a 300 has had the same problem, no matter what the year or engine. like most there is no sense taking it to dealer. they just say no code and give you some bs story about what caused it. no come up with a fix. chrysler knows they have a problem and won't man up and fix it. they would rather someone die first to save money. it has to be in the computer. just like toyota and their fly by wire throttle that was causing all the crashes. what is the public suppose to do if they won't step up.

recently i started my chrysler 300, tried to put my car in reverse, and realized it was stuck in park. after much investigation i have found a temporary resolution to get it out of park provided o me via the internet. i have found there is a recall on my part provided by chrysler, on my exact model, make, and year but for some reason its vin specific. bottom line is my part is broken and falls right in line with the other 29,000 other people that had their gear shifter recalled. when i called chrysler they said my vin didn't qualify. i strongly disagree. i have looked online and see many many people have been turned away by chrysler with the same problem. please help!

the vehicle stalls at low speeds or when stopped at a stop sign. it sometimes will exhibit a sudden loss of power followed by a chime as if engine is about to stall. two dealerships and two local mechanics have performed a complere system diagnostic. one of them retrieved code p0700-related to loss of communication with pcm. he cleared the codes and test drove it again and could not replicate the problem.the dealerships have no clue as to what is going on. this is a serious problem if our car were to stall all of a sudden on the highway and cause an accident. from what i have seen there are hundreds of complaints on this issue, is there anything you can do?

after filling up with gas at the same place i always do i began to drive home at the first light i was fine at the 2nd light the car stalled i put it n and started the car up and drove home about 1 block. in the morning i started the car up to go to work it ran fine for the first 2 blocks the stalled again. i started it up again and drove to work. i was terrified. after getting it home i thought i would drive it around the neighborhood for a few days to be safe and not go on the freeway. it still hesitated and felt like it wasn't running right. still wanting to stall. i then parked it for fear of being on the road and it stalling and someone running into me and killing me. with this many complaints about the same thing why is there not a recall on this problem. are they waiting for someone to be killed first. i did love this car but cant drive something this unsafe....help

my car (300c awd) stalls after fill up. this has happened several times on a trip from california to georgia. i was filling the car three times a day. moving from the fuel island to the interstate on-ramp the car will die making brakes and steering lose power as well. the car will restart and function correctly until the next fill up or it may stall once or twice again. the condition does not happen when stopping with out filling. i was able to shift into neutral and restart while rolling but this could be difficult in white knuckle situations. there is another condition that may or may not be related: some times when starting to fill up, the gas pump nozzle shuts off due to "splash back" in the car's filler tube. i can remedy this by repositioning the pump nozzle to one side or the other. once started, i can complete filling the car. my mechanic was at a loss with solving this problem.

i was driving my car down the street at approximately 30mph and the engine shut down without any warning; however,the radio and dashboard lights stayed on. i was able to start the car up immediately with no hesitation. this happened once on 11/18/2013 and twice on 11/20/2013. the check engine light never illuminated to indicate a problem on any of the 3 occasions nor have any codes been put out. on 11/21/2013, i had the car towed to a repair facility. prior to these 3 incidences, i had never had this problem nor any major problem with my vehicle, which i purchased brand new in june 2005. this problem did not occur after refueling, my tank was half full when the problem first occurred. the repair facility has had my vehicle for 7 days now and the car has stalled on them several times as well, however, they have no idea what the problem is. the facility has been in contact with chrysler technicians and has researched the technical bulletins, with no solution to the problem. the repair facility determined that the issue sounded related to the throttle body even though the car didn't kick out any code so they checked the throttle body and noted that its voltage was out of the specification range so they replaced it and updated/reset the car's computer, but this did not fix the problem as the car has stalled since they've replaced the throttle body.

while driving i recently heard my car making a ticking noise so i decided to take it in to be checked & while there have my vehicle get an early oil change. the next day i called to find out what was making my car tick well to my surprise i was told it was my engine & that while they were doing my oil change they saw that my oil was greyish in color & it also had metal shavings in my oil...which means my engine is breaking down. they advised me to not to drive home on the highway but to take the streets home. how could this be? my car is only seven that's right only 7 years old with only around 58,503 miles on it (and by the way i purchased my car brand new i'm the only owner) i now find out that chrysler only covers their vehicles for 3 years or 36,000 miles or what ever comes 1st.

i placed the vehicle in park and exited the car. when i return to attempt to shift the vehicle out of park i was unable to do so. after researching and speaking with my local chrysler/dodge dealership and getting my vehicle taken to them it was confirmed that the transmission gear shift lever interlock return spring hook broke. it will not allow the vehicle to be shifted out of the "park" position. although there is a recall for this problem already issued my vin was not included although it is included in the year of the issued recall. i was informed by the chrysler recall assistance center customer service person to contact nhtsa to file a complaint.

i was driving back home from atlanta and i stopped to fill up in macon. as i drove up the entrance ramp to i-75 the car stalled leaving me partially on the hi-way. a semi narrowly avoided rear ending me. after a few seconds the car started and i drove away. this is the 3rd time this has happened. a mechanic told me this is common on this type of car and the only fix is a new gas tank, which is very expensive.

our car is chrysler 300c awd model year 2006. currently car has about 46000 miles. recently without any warring engine stops to work. first incident occurred on december 11, 2013 shortly after we left the gas station were we fill up the tank. we could not restart the car and towed the car home paying fee of $75. next day the car started and we were able to drive the car. second incident occurred on december 27, 2013 while driving for few miles right after we fill up the tank. the car stopped without warring on main road. luckily, we were not in an accident and were able to restart the car and drove to side line. the car is now in our garage but we are unable to drive from fear of being in an accident as we deem the car unreliable. we researched on the web sides and discovered that many other owners of this car model and cars with similar engine train have identical or similar experiences and have filed formal complaints.

as i was driving my car shut-off and started back up on it's own when i was starting from a red light. going up the next hill it did it after stopping at a stop sign. over the next few days it would do this at different times and different speeds. at times it would not start back up on it's own i had to turn the key. eventually, it starting shutting off at the garage i sent it to while being run on machines. it turned out to be a computer problem that required a new computer be put in. i am filing this incident because for the 2007 model of the same car there was a recall and free replacement of the computer. i have been told by an chrysler maintenance worker that the reason the 2007 was covered was that the sub-contractor for that year was participating with chrysler to pay for the recall or paying it themselves. however, the sub-contractor for the 2006 model was not. i believe chrysler is responsible for their end product and should pay for my new computer and installation. this work cost me over $2,100 for a problem that they knew about. my mechanic was told by one chrysler dealer that there just have not been enough 2006 models with the 2007 issue to warrant a recall. they even provided the chrysler mechanic to install the computer and reset it for the shop i had the work performed.

i bought the 2006 chrysler 300c new in 2007 and it worked fine until mid 2013. one day after getting off the freeway i pulled into a gas station and filled the car with gas. in about 1-2 minutes after leaving the station the car bucked then stalled. it took several attempts to get it started. this situation has happened over and over again. it came to a head this week when i went to the gas station filled the tank and soon after leaving it stalled in traffic -i restarted it after almost causing an accident got going and it stalled again. i restarted with great difficulty and entered the on ramp----as i was building speed it stalled for the third time in less than 5 minutes and this time i was so close to an accident. now i have been to two dealerships and replaced numerous parts including the canister, some oil temp/pressure sensor, cleaned injectors,replaced plugs, a coil and too many to mention. the people at the dealership look at me like i am smoking crack ever time i complain. it wasn't until yesterday that i looked on the internet to find there are others with the same problem---i am not crazy. how do i get this fixed???

2006 chrysler 300. consumer writes in regards to rear brake tubes recall notice. *smd the consumer stated the rear brake system was inspected a few years ago, and no problem was found. in august of 2013, the brakes failed. however, the consumer was charged and is now seeking reimbursement due to the recall.

i was driving the car and the headlights shut off, dash lights went out and warning lights on the dash started lighting up and blinking on the dash. in addition, the gauges all dropped to zero and then returned after a few seconds. everything returned to normal after a few seconds except the headlights. the headlights returned when switched to on instead of auto (it was dark outside). this all happened while the car was in motion at 60mph. after the car was parked and engine shut down, i restarted it and the headlights worked properly in the auto setting again. this problem replicated itself 2 weeks after the first incident. again, headlights shut off while driving in the dark.

my vehicle is well taken care of but recently i have had the engine stall while running when i come to a stop like on a turning lane, at a stop sign, a signal light. this would happen when the car comes to a stop while running. what i have noticed is that as i slow down for a stop the idle rpm's drop down low and make the car stall and the engine stops. if i feel there is a safety concern i'll put the car in neutral and rev the engine to keep the rpm's from dropping out and stalling. the stalling has compromised the safety of driving as i never know when its going to happen or if it will happen. the car has went to the dealership but they could not find the problem because no code showed up and they could not duplicate the stalling in the shop. i also took it to my personal mechanic where it could get some real attention and unfortunately he could not duplicate the problem either. he did clean the throttle body. i'm waiting for the car to stall again to retrieve the soft code by towing it directly to the shop.

filled gas tank at station. drove .25 mile and vehicle stalled while accelerating from a stop light. stalled 3 more times within the next mile. i parked car and shut it off. restarted 30 minutes later and drove about 1.5 miles and it stalled again while pulling into a parking lot. no problems until i filled up at a different gas station 5 days later. it stalled again after pulling out of the station. it always starts right up.

after filling the chrysler up with gas for the last 6 months, maybe more, the car starts and then within 3 feet it shuts off. the computer says that the system is ok. this happens 3 to four times in traffic. it has caused minor bumper problems. it is a serious safety issue. finally, it was supposedly, inspected by bettenhausen, fiat in tinley park, but we never got a response or the problem alleviate. it did the same thing today on the highway. thank god, there were no cars next to me. i had to pull over because the car stopped without warning.

the car was filled up with fuel and no more than 2-5 miles from the gas station while driving the engine cut off with no warning while in traffic. was able to restart the engine and continue on and within a mile it stalled out again in traffic. this time the car would not start. the car was pushed to the side of the road. the oil pressure light was also coming on so did not want to push the car and cause further damage. after 45 mins i restarted the car fine and was able to drive 1 mile before it stalled out at a stop sign. again no warning and the car lost all power and you were unable to stop the car easily or turn the wheel since all power was lost. the oil pressure light did come on again but did not occur until after the car engine cut off and all power was lost. this time i checked the oil and the level was fine but i still added an extra quart of oil. then within 5 mins i was able to start the car and drive it the rest of the way 1-2 miles to the dealership. upon arriving at the dealership we checked the error coded. the dealership than changed the oil and did a full inspection and drive of the car and was unable to reproduce the issue i was seeing before going to the dealership.

i'm writing this because i believe that these 300s with hemis are death traps waiting to happen and strongly feel that a recall is necessary. it's happened about 8 times since we bought the vehicle in july, 2013 but the latest was last week, saturday, march 8, 2014 at about 11:30pm. my husband, my 6 mo baby, and myself had just filled up the gas tank on our way home. we were making a right turn out of the gas station and onto the main road, when the car went completely dead. the engine shut down and the steering wheel locked up. my husband had to put the car in park and, after about 3 attempts and a good 20 seconds or so, he finally got the car started. it spurted a little but started to move. about a mile later, we were pulling onto our street, when the car died again and did the exact same thing. lucky for us there weren't many cars on the street and everyone was alright but this is not safe! this has happened in the middle of the day when oncoming traffic was going full speed, at least 45 mph!! someone can die! after this latest incident, i've refused to drive the car due to it's unreliability and our car is currently at the dealership and has been for the past 2 days-going on 3. it took the service manager 2 days to figure out it's a faulty gas tank and that's after we told him about the nhtsa investigation, action number: pe13016, which just ended, february 10, 2014. apparently, chrysler extended it's warranty to cover gas tanks for a lifetime but, not for all chrysler 300s! we are being charged $1,905 for our gas tank to be replaced, which should be eligible for a lifetime warranty on our fuel tank but i called chrysler today and they told me that there is no extended warranty attached to our vin. please help before someone gets seriously injured and recall all gas tanks or at least extend the warranty to cover more, if not all chrysler 300s!!

the noise started over a few months to now a gradual loud metal "ticking" noise when idling . i looked up various sites and apparently the rocker arm assemblies have had a problem in these vehicles of this age. i contacted chrysler who refused to communicate and or take to do anything about this problem. i read that the rocker arm assemblies were faulty at the manufacturing date of these vehicles yet chrysler will do nothing, there is apparently a new kit available to repair.. this is not a high mileage vehicle yet it has this loud metallic ticking noise coming from the engine and it is getting worse.

when i would fill up with gas my car would stall and shut off as i approached a traffic light to stop or slow to make a turn. i contacted chrysler on may 15, 2013 about my car. i was told to take it to the dealer and i did but they say without the engine light coming on they would have to keep the car 4 to 5 days and break it down. then i read in the paper that you has closed the investigation into engine stalling in some 2006 chrysler cars after the company extended the fuel warranty. no one contacted me about the extended warranty (they should have after i contacted them of the problem). i emailed them again and they said that the extended warranty had expired. the fuel tank problem was and probably is on a lot of 2006 chrysler and because they never notified anyone of the problem we are responsible for the bill. i had been having trouble with my car for about two months before i contacted them. i would fill up with gas and start home and approaching a traffic light to stop my car shut off with no warning and no engine light ever came on. got it started and came to the next light and started to make a left turn and it shut off again and on coming traffic was approaching. got it started in time and going into the garage of my house and it stopped again. at first i thought it was the gas i was using but, no matter if it was exxon, citgo or bp it all was the same. stalling and cutting off were a regular occurrence. i didn't get to go on vacation last summer because i didn't know what was happening to my car. it was a night mare. i think chrysler did me wrong in not contacting me about the extended warranty after i had contacted them about the problem i was having.

the vehicle began repeatedly stalling after being filled with gas and at low speeds. this went on for months. my son had the vehicle in another town and when he returned to our house we took it to our mechanic who diagnosed a fuel valve problem. we then took it to the poway chrysler dealer who agreed with the diagnosis. they said it was a fuel tank vent valve failure causing fuel to be sucked up into intake purge line. excessive fuel was seen by the powertrain control module and they proceeded to repair the problem by installing a new fuel tank. although this is apparently a well documented problem in 2006 chrysler 300s, my car was not covered in a recent decision by chrysler to extend the fuel tank warranty.

from what i've learned there's a defect in chrysler automobiles with the hemi engine. any time the gas tank is filled, if a sharp left turn is taken the car stalls out. this is exactly what has happened to me periodically over the last two years. i brought the car to two local mechanics and the chrysler dealership, nobody could figure it out, it doesn't show up on the car's computer. finally, a third mechanic googled it and came up with an article in the l.a.times that perfectly described my situation (duh, i should've thought of that). it wasn't until the car stalled in the middle of a busy road, on a friday afternoon, with my two-year-old daughter in the car, that i really had an issue. i was able to roll into the parking lot of a shopping plaza, so it ended alright, but if there was nowhere to go that could've spelled disaster! as a guy i can handle a situation like this, but when children are involved a defect of this type is unacceptable. i'm the original owner of the car, so it's not related to user error by any means. in the end the third mechanic quoted me $1800 for a new gas tank + lines + labor, or i could not fill my tank to the top when i get gas. thanks chrysler! plus, the shifter for the automatic transmission on the 300c will lock up, not letting the driver shift from park to drive. thanks again chrysler for stranding my pregnant wife! (i still have the shifter in my garage hoping that will be a recall).

back in september of 2011 when the car had 115260 miles on it, i had been having issues for some time with the car not shifting into higher gears when trying to pass someone on the road. the car seemed to want to stall but then would pick up and drive fine but it got to the point where the car would stick in a lower gear and not get over 58 miles per hour even if i had it floored. they replaced the valve body input speed sensor for this at a tune of $1041.99. next issue with this car was a tie rod on the passenger side of the car. i kept hearing a knock noise that i just couldn't put my finger on but i told the guys at the garage that it sounded like it was coming from the front tire area on the passenger side. the mechanic said that the tie rod was getting ready to break. the current issue with this model for me is the fuel. i just had a vapor canister installed that did not solve the issue but it did get rid of a few of the problems. when i first started having problems with my car shutting down after a fill up, i thought the gas had water in it but it's not the gas. no matter what station i fill up at, i have the same symptoms. the car will drive fine for about 3 car lengths, then it will hesitate, choke, jump, try to die, jerk forward and then finally stall and shut itself off. then it will take 3 or more tries to get the car to restart and it may do the same things over again for another block or two. the bottom line is, in the first 3 blocks of driving this car after a fill up, i can expect just about anything and i know for sure it will die on me if i fill it up. if i only put in 3/4 of a tank of gas or less, i am safe but if i let the pump kick off on its own, i'm in trouble. the only thing the vapor canister did was stop it from jumping and jerking, all the other symptoms are still there. this is very dangerous in traffic.

i had just filled up with gas and as i pulled out in traffic, my car stalled. i was able to pull to the shoulder and restart the engine. next day, i filled up with fuel and the same problem. i have had this problem every time i fill with fuel since the initial experience. now my car stalls about six to eight times before it runs normal after filling with gas. chrysler told me that the car was beyond the warranty at the time of the first incident and refused to fix the problem except at a cost of about $2000. now chrysler says that i was notified earlier and did not contact them within the allotted time. i was never notified. i am the original owner of the car. i am referencing pe13-016 and informing you that chrysler is refusing to meet its obligation. please help me!

i purchased the used car on july 20,2013 from car center in waldorf, md. one week of driving the car i had to fill the gas tank up. once i started to drive it the car began to stumble and shut off on me while i was driving. i immediately called car center and i was given a loaner car 08/01/13 and the car was supposely taken to waldorf ford and dodge to have it looked at. i called the waldorf ford and dodge to discuss my car. they told me the only thing they did was cut a new key for the car, which i had them fax me the receipt of the work done. my car shut off another 2 times while i was driving, just after fueling. when i personally dropped the car off at waldorf jeep and chrysler dealership the technician told me that i'm not the first one to complain about my car shutting of while driving, just after filling up my gas tank. i asked him was there a recall on the car that was not done. he said they're investigating it. i asked him what do i do in the meantime, his smartass answer just don't fill it all the way up. on 04/16/14, my car stalled in the middle of a busy highway while i had the green light to cross it. we were almost side swiped by another vehicle because they're light turned green and i couldn't get the car started in time to get out of the way. i no longer feel that this is "safe" to drive but yet i'm still stuck with these payments! please help i love the car but want something that is safe to drive.

after i filled up my gas tank and left the gas station, when i came to a complete stop my car shut off. when i restarted it, my rpms raised tremendously and my gears started shifting automatically and when i came to another stop my car shut off again. i only been having the car 3 weeks and i noticed that it always happens after a fill-up for a few hours here and there. once my gas needle moves a little bit below full, the car runs perfectly fine!

vehicle stalled in public roadway following filling gas tank. struggled to get engine restarted. kept dying. managed to get rpms up but could not engage transmission. after some delay transmission engaged and was able to drive vehicle out of traveled way. i was blocking traffic. the engine would continue to repeat dying and i would have to pull over and perform restart sequence. this continued for several miles. at first, thought engine was experiencing vapor lock. also had thought i had purchased a bad tank of gas and my fuel filter was plugged. i was out of town and took the car into local chrysler dealer at that time. they told me it was my battery and charged me for a new one plus installation. when i returned home the next day some 250 miles away i found the car acted up again after i filled it up with gas. i contacted my local chrysler dealer who indicated there could be a problem with the fuel delivery system and being my car was out of warranty all cost for investigating to determine the problem and the actual work to make the repair would be on me. they could not give me any idea as to the possible toyal cost. i opted not give them a blank check and did not have them dismantle the car. i found that i can avoid the stalling if i don't fill the tank full. a sad solution to a faulty fuel delivery system. i'm the original owner of the car and have religiously cared for it. i have never received any documentation from chrysler regarding offering to correct the float (which now they have concluded is the problem). to set a deadline on january 2014 without notification of the owners is poor business. if that is their position than i will do my best to discourage anyone from buying their vehicles. they should have had a recall by notifying all the owners. i do get mailers from several chrysler dealerships and they have all my records!! shame on you, chrysler!!!

after filling car with fuel car starts bucking and stalls. restarts and bucks and stalls a few more times then runs fine until next time we fill up. we cannot fill the fuel tank up or take a serious chance of having car stall in traffic. i have asked chrysler if there was a recall or fix for this and was told by service manger that he was not aware. they suggested that i need fuel tank unit $1,158.00. i have read that many people are having same problems and only fix is to pay for a new gas tank as this is only fix. chrysler should fix this for no charge as it is part of the emission system. i'm terrified to have my son in the car that we'll be hurt or killed by this flaw in the fuel tank. i hope we can get some help to get this repaired. thanks.

after filling up the fuel tank, after approximately 30 seconds the engine shut down. it was hard to restart, but finally restarted. when pulling out fromt the fueling station, the car began to buck and jerk intermittently. when stopped at a red light, it stalled again. i restarted the car. when i proceeded when the light turned green, the car again stalled. this occured for the next 5-6 miles, then stopped occurring. this happened every time i refilled the fuel tank. since ooa 15 december 2011, i cannot fill my fuel tank and have to stop it before the nozzle shuts if off. if i inadvertenly let it fill until the nozzle clicks off (doesn't matter the fueling pump/station), it will buck and stall for the next several miles until some of the fuel is burned off in the tank.

my 2006 chrysler 300 limited was parked in my driveway and would not come out of park. i had to disassemble the gear lever box in order to manually depress the mechanism that moves the shifter. my vehicle has sat in my driveway for one year not being driven. my complaint is the part that broke is a cheap piece of pink plastic that chrysler has recalled for some vehicles, but my vin was not included. chrysler should include all vehicles that had this installed, not some of them.

on sunday 07/20/2014 at approx. 7:15 pm, i started my 300 went to started went to put vehicle into drive. vehicle would not shift out of park. no warning or check engine lights. found on internet several other 300 owners with same issue. found chrysler customer notification k39 which covers 2005-2007 dodge charger, magnum and chrysler 300 issues with "pink plastic" part breaking and not allowing car to shift out of park. called chrysler recall hotline and informed my vehicle, even though it is experiencing exact same issue, was not covered because it is not from the correct plant.

i filled up the gas tank and shortly after entering the highway and accelerating the engine stalled on me in the middle of traffic. it took several attempts to restart. since then it has stalled on me every time i fill up the gas tank so i have only been filling it 3/4 full and i have no problem. i found out there was a recall for the problem (pe13-016) and called chrysler but was told my vin number was not covered even though it fit the exact criteria of the recall. chrysler could not tell me why my vehicle was not covered.

i own a 2006 chrysler 300 touring. i drove the car without any problem and parked in my car garage at home. i went to the car to drive out of home, engine starts well, but gear lever is stuck to park, will not disengage. i researched a little about this and noticed that this is a major problem with the chrysler car and many people have been having problems with this. i also noticed that chrysler had issued a recall for this problem. i called a local chrysler dealership and reported the problem and was told that the recall did not apply to my specific car. i then called the chrysler group recall assistance center at 1-800-853-1403. i spoke with joshua (employee id jg 1834) who told me that my car was not covered under the recall. i made it clear to him that this is a manufacturer problem, a defective product being sold to consumers like myself and that chrysler needs to take full responsibility for it. i requested for the name and email or other contact information of the person in charge of recalls at chrysler and joshua told me he is not allowed to give out that information. i was told i have to go fix my car myself for a manaufacturing defect.
