when vehicle's exterior lamp control is in the "auto" position during daylight hours, most of the instrument panel gauges (speedometer, rpm, gas, battery, temperature, oil) are not illuminated and cannot be read without taking one's eyes off the road and focusing on the gauge in question, creating a safety hazard. various features of the vehicle are specifically designed so that one does not have to remove the eyes from the road (e.g., radio controls on steering wheel); this goes completely against this objective. one can bypass this problem by switching the exterior lamp control from "auto" to the parking lamp position: this illuminates the gauges but cuts out the daytime running lamps. an improperly designed light sensor seems to be the cause of this problem. when this problem was brought to the attention of the dealer, his service people determined after checking that this was normal operation and there was no defect. *nm

reference: near death experiences while driving our brand new (2 week old, chevrolet tahoe ) my family and i have experienced 3 near death situations on two major interstates while driving the two week old 2007 tahoe that i purchased on may 20. i will explain the dangerous experiences we were subjected to in chevrolet tahoe. the chevrolet tahoe i just purchased 2 weeks ago has stalled on three occasions, while i was driving at 65-70 mph, on a busy interstate. when the incidents occurred there were many motorist on the interstate (at night and during the day) we went to two dealers and spoke with on star four times. the repairs were supposed to be completed but each time the suv stalled on the interstate causing a possibly fatal incident for my family and other motorist. the 2007 tahoe that i have been sold is clearly dangerous and defective. now it's friday, june 9, 2006, and i have a brand new 2007 tahoe that is truly malfunctioning; my family needs safe and reliable transportation. *jb *nm

i have a 2007 tahoe. i have 5,700 miles on it and my tires are feathered and ruined. took it back to the dealer, and they said to rotate to back and drive it another 5000 miles and see if the front tires do the same thing. i feel like there should have been more done, but they did nothing. i now would like to know my options. i fear for the safety of my family while driving in this vehicle. the dealership said this is the first reported case and they want us to be the guinea pigs and see what happens. *jb

our first incident occurred 2 weeks after we purchased our 2007 tahoe ltz on march 17,2006 the heated seats didn't work unless we restarted the vehicle this happened twice and never again so we thought it was a fluke. second malfunction/incident was. i started the vehicle and the windshield wipers came on by themselves and i could not shut them off until i restarted the vehicle. the third incident was the same as the second...this time i was driving on the fwy and the wipers and wiper fluid came on again, i could not shut them off until i exited the fwy and restarted the vehicle. we took it to the dealer aug 23, 2006 and explained all the malfunctions that had occurred thus far they could not find nor duplicate the heated seat problem but they did find that the windshield wiper module needed to be replaced, so they ordered it. forward to today sept 8, 2006 i was again driving on the fwy when my xm radio went out completely i thought it was just a problem with the satellite so as soon as i exited the fwy i restarted the vehicle but this time all of the instrument panel, radio and onstar services were completely dead! no service at all! i called the dealer and they want me to take it in so that they can check it out yet again, and install the wiper module we were waiting on. this is just ridiculous, being that we did not pay chump change for this tahoe for that kind of money it should be a very reliable vehicle! i am not going to be having to take a $50,000 vehicle to the shop every other month for malfunctions...what a complete inconvenience this is!! and from what i see this is definitely not the first incident of this kind. i see people are having similar computer malfunctions as well! *jb

at 3700 miles noticed front tires were feathering. after visiting dealer and questioning they asked if i had tires rotated? i explained the mileage on the vehicle was too low so they suggested rotating and coming back. also, window trim on 2 rear windows coming off since first day of ownership, recently been told this is a recall and a known problem.

dt*: the contact stated while traveling 45 mph, the vehicle's rear passenger tire drove over a nail and lost air pressure. upon inspection, it was noticed that a dime size piece of rubber was missing along the middle of the tread. the vehicle was driven to a tire repair shop, who replaced the defective tire with a full size spare. the contact did not notice any vibration while driving prior to the incident. the tire manufacturer was contacted, and determined that the contact could have hit an object on the road, causing the tread separation. the service dealer was contacted, and provided no assistance. the contact expressed that the vehicle was not safe to drive, if a piece of tire ripped off so easily. the tire was a bridgestone dueler 684, size: p265/70r17.

the gauge cluster panel is shrouded which makes it hard to see the gauges during the late day hours or dim light days because the gauges are not illuminated. they only illuminate when the headlights turn on automatically (or if you turn them on). i think the headlight sensor is mis-programmed, because it seems to routinely activate too late, but on one occasion it activated when it was just getting dim, weird. the running lights only illuminate the front running lights, not rear tail lights, making it dangerous under dim lit conditions. also the speedometer is not centered in the shrouded panel because they made it symmetrical with a matching tachometer (rpm) gauge. who really cares about a tachometer on an automatic vehicle? i want to see the speed that i am traveling. also, if you tilt the steering wheel up at one set point you cant even see the gauges depending on how tall you are. *nm

upon notification by onstar to rotate my tires, at 6500 miles. i had them rotated at the dealership and noted that the front tires were "feathered" (wearing incorrectly due to some chamber or caster setting being incorrect). the dealer said he had seen worse tire feathering on 07 tahoe's and there should be a recall. *jb

just after purchase, while they were prepping my new 07 tahoe i noted that it had a dent in the rear drivers-side door in the ridge over the rear wheel opening. a collision center owner informed me that it could not be repaired without installing a new door skin on it. the salesman had stated that it could be popped-out. it obviously happened at the factory as there were no obvious scratches or other indications of impact. *jb

the heater fan does not run when i automatically start the vehicle with my remote starter/keyfob. what good is it to start your vehicle to warm it up if the fan doesn't start up to defrost your windshield? the gm remote starter was installed and programmed by the dealer after purchase. when it was checked, the fan ran and then didn't . i got it to run only if i am 3 feet away and start the vehicle (or sitting in it) too funny, i guess at that point i may as well use the key!@ *jb

we took our vehicle to the dealer for a 3rd time now (look for my other complaint on this website on electrical problems/windshield problems) for the same problem plus a number of multiple other problems. the problem that the dealer can't seem to remedy is the windshield wipers and wiper spray keep coming on all by themselves and cannot be turned off unless you turn the vehicle off and then restart it. they've replaced the windshield wiper module but they still come on randomly. the heated seats sometimes don't work and in order to get them to work you must restart the car. the front passenger window will randomly not roll up or down from the drivers side master switch and will only start working after restarting the vehicle. when i took my car to get serviced (oil change) the mechanic noticed several leaks under the vehicle, one coming from the engine bell housing another from the rack and pinion area and the third from the power steering pump housing area. when we took it to the dealer they cleaned the engine pan (i have before pictures) and added an engine dye and they stated they found no leaks, we'll check it again after a few hundred miles. they also cleaned up the other leaks from the other areas and claimed no leaks. our mechanic also noticed while rotating the tires that the front right rotors were deeply grooved which answers my question as to why my brakes have been squeaking. he says that with only 10,000 miles it is not normal for them to be grooved, and is definitely a defect with the calipers probably sticking. showed the dealer and the service writer stated it was normal, that cannot be normal. so now they resurfaced the rotor and the brakes are still squeaking. after bringing my vehicle home from the dealer for repairs the car locked "itself" i did not lock it, the car keys were not even in my hands anymore they were hanging on the key rack. there are definitely some major electrical problems and mechanical problems with this vehicle. *jb

driving vehicle on the 7th day of ownership with cruise control on. on a slight down grade vehicle accelerated 20 mph over set cruise speed before i shut cruise off. the next morning, the vehicle continued accelerating after i took my foot off the gas at a light causing vehicle to crash into another vehicle. chevy dealer in henderson, nv handled very poorly. nearly two months after crash, gm called me and stated that their 3rd party independent evaluation (done by a retired gm employee) of the vehicle and its computers doesn't show any failure or malfunction to verify my claim. gm can say what they want. i know what happened and my wife and family witnessed the accident. gm had no interest in talking to them. for their protection, i'll take a loss and trade the vehicle as soon as i get it back. just wanted a public record of situation in case of any future similar incidents. ironically, i was impressed by vehicle and quality the week i had it. the report gm sent me appeared to confirm what i said happen, but they said not. *nm

i have a brand new 2007 chevy tahoe, the car was driving normal, i was heading to the on ramp of the freeway, but to get into the freeway i had to make a right and then the on ramp is in front of me. of course you also had cars coming from the right of me. when i saw a gap where i could go, i floored the gas, to go into the freeway, when i heard a loud noise, and all of the sudden the car slowed down. i had to think quick being that the car was an automatic, i shifted to a lower gear, the car started moving but it was making a grinding noise. i finally got out of the way. and i called onstar, my transmission had given. on a 6 month old 2007 tahoe. they took it to the dealer, at the dealership they replaced a gear inside the transmission, to no avail. finally they ended up replacing the whole transmission, because they couldn't figure what was wrong the car. no warning lights or nothing. the guy at the dealership told me, that this was so weird that the techs in michigan wanted the whole transmission shipped to them. they had the suv for a total of 21 days.

we have a 2007 chevy tahoe. one of the reasons we purchased this vehicle is that it has front and side airbags. i usually ride in the passenger seat and the sensor most often indicates off. after numerous attempts of trying to get them to establish what was wrong, the chevy dealer said that my weight was not quite enough to get it to work or that it was positional( how i sat). i am a grown woman who weighs about 115 lbs and am 5'2".this is not thin by normal standards and it is not considered an unusual size. if in fact this vehicle was not meant to work for someone of my size they should advise you of this. i asked what would happen if there was a wreck and my airbag did not deploy, would i have to sue gm? they are avoiding me and i have written to the ceo of gm as advised by customer service and i have written to bill heard, the owner of tom jumper chevrolet where we bought the car. no answers from anyone. what do you think? *jb

after only one month of purchase auto start feature does not work unless you were 3 feet away. the vehicle once sat over night would make a really loud clattering sound when you would turn on the engine. i took the car into the dealer and told them about the problems the dealer indicated that they had to reprogram the software in the tahoe to reprogram auto start. the next morning i was called and informed that they were unable to reproduce the clattering sound and that nothing wrong was detected with the vehicle so that it was ready for pick up. everything was o.k. for about a couple of months. auto start wasn't working again. at my third service visit to the dealer i noticed the tires were starting to get wasted towards the inside. the vehicle only had about 5,000 miles on it at the time. when the dealer was informed he indicated that the tires needed to be rotated. after about three tire rotations i noticed the tires getting warn out pretty badly on the inside. he indicated that the problem could be that it needs a front end allingnment only after the vehicle having less than 12,000 miles. the front end alignment was done on the vehicle.to this day that the tires are wasted more on the insides than the outsides.this last month we have had a problem again with the loud clattering sound in the engine when we start the vehicle.it has gotten alot worse i took it into the dealer and they said that they were aware of the problem and that it appears to be oil build up in the air compressor that when it sits for more thatn 3 hours it apparently makes this loud sound when you start the engine. he indicated that chevy is looking into the problem and to this day has not done anything about the problem.i was furious when they refused to do anything about a problem that chevy well knows is a manufacturer defect.

1 month after purchase of my 2007 chevy tahoe the service engine light came on. i alerted onstar as i was stranded on the road. onstar indicated through a probe check that my transmission had malfunctioned but the problem would correct itself and the light would go off and i could keep driving the truck. the light went off and i kept driving. some time later onstar was alerted for the same problems, i was told the same as before by onstar. about 1 year after i bought this tahoe i was stranded again around 10:30p.m. along side an unsafe highway with my 3 children. onstar was called and again stated a transmission error that would correct itself and after driving the light should go off. i drove this tahoe home having to pull off the road several times to allow my transmission temperature to cool to prevent further damage. the next morning the light had gone off and i was on my way to take the tahoe to the dealership where it was purchased. 5 miles or so from my home the light comes back on and i alert onstar and was told that i needed to drive the truck to my nearest chevrolet dealership. as i pulled back on the road the transmission stops working immediately as i am sitting in on-comming traffic. i quickly put the truck in reverse as drive will not work any longer to get myself out of harms way. chevrolet was called and transported my truck to their dealership as this was where it was purchased. my truck stayed in the shop three days as they had to rebuild the transmission. i had to pay for a rental with my own money. after picking my truck up from being repaired i was once again stranded along i-95 with my children 2 hours later. as of today my truck is still waiting to be hauled into chevrolet. *jb

i have a 2007 chevrolet tahoe, i was driving up to a red light and stopped completely. when the light turned green i pressed on the accelerator and the my truck made a loud knocking noise and would not go forward. it would go in reverse and a lower gear but not in regular drive. i only have 21,000 miles on it and the transmission has given out. i had it towed to the nearest dealership and they are breaking down the transmission to see what exactly the problem is. *jb

my 2007 tahoe has had a transmission/slip/bumping problem and it was first noticed by me about a month after i got it back in april. it has gotten worse the more that i drive it. it has 5900 miles on it and has been to the shop once for the problem. it was not taken care of and now it has been brought to my attention that this is actually a common problem and that it has been made aware of years ago in the older versions. i'm not at all happy about this. *jb

2007 chevrolet tahoe instrument panel defect. customer states that she could not see the instrument panel in the daylight. *kb the consumer was unable to read any of the smaller gauges let alone the speedometer. it was suggested to the consumer, to turn the light switch to permanently on and not use the auto function. the consumer stated there wasn't too much of a difference. the consumer stated the material colors beside and around the instruments were just too dark for day light conditions. *jb

the transmission went out on my 2007 tahoe ltz with 18,500 miles. i coasted to the side of the road. tahoe would not move in "d", but would in other gears. in "3" i headed to my dealer (about 15 miles away). "3" went out when i had to slow for a light. i then drove in "2" to the dealer. i was told this was the first problem like this they had seen in a 2007. after inspection, i was give technical names of the transmission parts that had torn up inside. i received the tahoe back in 1 week and was provided a free rental car by chevrolet. i have nothing but the highest praise for my dealer, but am extremely disappointed in such a major problem in a new vehicle. i am supposed to receive a full copy of all work done for this repair.

my 2007 tahoe is a piece of ?!@#$%. since i got the truck it has been in and out of the shop. my gas gage floats i can start out at � of a tank and it will go up to � of a tank. the dealership has changed multiple parts and can not seem to fix it. the blower in the air conditioner went out that had to be replaced as well. my service light came on and another part had to be replaced. i would have to say that my truck has been in the shop at least 30 days. i would not buy another gm vehicle. the dealership was so quick to sell me the truck, not that quick to help me. i have picture and video with time and date of to gas gauge floating. my gas gage is the recurring problem, the dealership has changed multipr parts.

on my new chevy tahoe, 2007, the transmission has slipped several times (50+) over the last 20,000 miles. each occurrence was minor and when mentioned to the dealer at normal service intervals was told was common for a truck (i.e. they are stiff when cold, can do that when you go around a corner, etc.) this finally culminated with complete transmission failure while in traffic. the repair offered by chevy is to just replace the defective part with a like part that the mechanic believes is not different. hence we swapped a failed defective part with the same design that i must assume will fail again! this is not a fix and only delays the inevitable once again. maybe next time it will break when passing or out in the middle of no where? the gear is called a sprag gear and all the gm dealerships are silently aware of the problem.

driver-side door handles (inner and outer) spontaneously fail to open door from inside or outside. a mechanical defect (not electrical). unit manipulated until it started to work first service visit. entire door handle and lock unit replaced second occurrence. entire lock unit fell inside door at third occurrence, truck to be dropped off at shop tomorrow for maintenance. door currently will not open. driver must climb over the console and enter and exit vehicle through the passenger-side door every time this problem occurs. this is the 3rd time truck will need service for this same issue. truck is a 2007 tahoe.

i own a new 2007 chevy tahoe that i purchased on 2/22/07 for $49k. on dec 31st, 2007 i came home from work at 3pm and parked my car in our attached garage (car obviously turned off). at 3:45pm my wife started to smell smoke -- upon entering the garage i noticed that the car was smoking (fire dept thinks its electrical in nature - definitely smelled like it was). i have not had a problem at all with this car and kept up with all maintenance only using the gm dealership for work. we immediately called the fire dept -- when the police and fire made it to the scene the engine burst into flames. my one year old son was sleeping in his room right above the garage. there are a lot of "what ifs" that go through your head if we had not smelled the smoke and the car blew up. not even taking into account that there was another car right next to the tahoe which was full of gas. gm has given me the run around and does not feel that my car deserves to be replaced. they are very happy letting my insurance pay for the damage to my house and letting me suffer a $16k loss out of pocket for this incident. i am currently pursuing legal avenues and am in the process of looking at the lemon law that massachusetts has on the books.

i purchased a 2007 tahoe in feb. of 2007. i have had numerous problems to date. the first was the a/c blower went out. replaced under warranty. the tire pressure monitor was reversed on the two right side tires. right front was actually the right rear. i have complained to the dealership numerous times about the poor mileage i am getting. 15.1 mpg overall. 60% + of my driving is on the highway. my 2003 tahoe got much better mileage without the so-called "active fuel management system". then at 27,758 miles, the transmission crapped out while pulling into traffic on a busy road. i like the appearance and features of the tahoe, but in my opinion, this vehicle is a disaster mechanically. i have bought nothing but gm products for the last 20 years but will now reconsider.

while parked at a restaurant my tahoe was broke into. the theft was done with a small flat head screwdriver under the key lock in the seal between the handle and the door. i couldn't even tell. the police showed me where to look and said it was very common. i took it to two dealerships and a body shop. one dealer and the body shop said that this was very common and the previous year model had the same issue. the alarm doesn't go off because the screwdriver is sensed as a key. gm customer service filed a complaint by me and closed it in the same phone call. they said to take it up with my insurance company. it should not be that easy to break into. it is going to cost $700 to replace the handle and paint the door and i must replace the gps unit that was stolen and a check to my bank was also taken.

have had my 2007 chevy tahoe seen by the dealer 5x for a repeat check engine light, since 9/15/07 (purchase date). 1st time they told me it was a loose gas cap. 2nd time - evap leak, replace evap vent selenoid, 3rd - repeat evap leak - loose connection at canister, 4th time - repeat evap leak, replace with "chevy new design vent valve", 5th time - repeat evap leak - replaced gas cap.

battery began to go dead. i would call road service to get it restarted. this has happened several times and *onstar was notified on most occasions of this happening.*onstar was notified due to the contract i have with them for roadside help. this has happened atleast seven times.(using *onstar for assistance on atleast three of these seven times) i have taken it back to the dealership for help with the problem. they replaced the battery. but the real problem is the car just up and shuts down while driving. this has happened twice(i told the dealer about it)and the thing ,other than the safety factor, i'm afraid to drive the car. i travel and i really need a car. i can't afford a secondary vehicle. my family stated nor can you afford to die either!the chance of taken the life of another person,to me,far exceeds the fear i have of loosing my on life.

i leased a 2007 tahoe in june 2006. after about 10k or 15k i began to hear alot of noise when turning left or right. i asked the tahoe dealership to check it out and they stated it was not a problem. months later the problem continued to get worse an louder. same dealership states it not a problem. the clicking, squealing noise have gotten worse. third time same dealership states there's nothing wrong. may 21, 2008, i go to a different dealership for a service and because all my friends say there has to be something wrong. i was told that it is a known problems with gm model, i.e., tahoe yukons suburbuns. the intermediate shaft that is installed wears out, and has to be replaced, in models dating back to 98 at least. he states i would have to pay for repair. i researched an found that hundreds of complaints and forums about the very problem but there is no recall about. they have been using the same shaft for years and now have improved part that consumers have to pay for out of their pockets. how can they knowlingly place bad parts in vehicles and not be responsible for repairing. i was told that unless they had a new for the intermediate shaft it would have to be replaced every 10k miles.

gas mileage on my 2007 chevy tahoe is much worse than the advertised 21mpg. i am lucky if i get 13mpg on regular gasoline. don't get me started on the e85 scam - less mpg and only $0.30 cheaper than regular gasoline? the dealer scammed me into believing it was an apples to apples comparison of e85 and gas.

my wife and i have been victims of the faulty chrome plating peeling from the interior door release handles,causing a razor type cut to tips of our fingers therefore causing loss of blood. the interior door release handles have been replaced 3 times within the last 10 months resulting in failure soon after. the last incident happened 6/28/2008 when i exited the vehicle which cut my finger. there is no visual warning when the chrome plating seam fails, but to receive the razor 'like' cut to the finger which is very painful. our level of concern for the safety of our children and family members that have blood ailments such has diabetes type ii,enema, is of great concern. i have been subjected to having to wrap tape on the existing handles that have already been replaced to prevent what could cause permanent bodily injury which i feel is totally unacceptable. if further injuries result in the use of this vehicle, i am requesting the assistance of your organization for a permanent resolution to this issue. your concern will be greatly appreciated from my family and myself.

we have had several problems with this vehicle. we've had tires replaced twice, rotors, and brakes resurfaced, and rear-end dropped so the springs could be adjusted. but the biggest problem has been with the roaring in the motor. the dealership has had the vehicle for more than 20 days on and off looking for this noise. i've had it to them 8 times or so trying to find it. the noise didn't start until around 3,000 miles, and gets worse and easier to duplicate with more miles. the first 7 visits they said they didn't know what it was and was clueless to it, but the last visit, and 4 days of it, they and gm decided it was a "characteristic" of the vehicle, and nothing could be done. on the otherhand, one mechanic says it's coming from the drivetrain, but others say it's an improper balance in the motor. either way i'm paying too much money for whatever it is!

i just bought a used chevrolet tahoe from a dealership and unfortunately the vehicle mileage is over 36,000 miles but is only a year old. here is my complaint. my airbag service light came on while driving from texas to nevada and does not shut off. the dealership said they do not cover this anymore since it is out of warranty and i would have to pay for parts and labor for servicing the air bag system. i do not believe the air bag system coverage should be connected with mileage. the vehicle is only a year old and it is already giving me an airbag servicing light. why can't general motors fix this at their expense? chevy tahoe 2007.

the gas gauge in my 2007 chevy tahoe has drastic fluctuations and mis-readings. i can get in the truck, start it and the gauge may read 1/4-1/2 full and the estimated gas range may say 130 miles. i can then turn the truck off, restart it, and the reading sometimes goes down to empty and i'll get a "low fuel" warning. this seems to happen very regularly, but most often when the tank is around 1/4 full (or supposed to be 1/4 full). this creates situations on the highway where i think i've got plenty of time and mileage before having to find a gas station. if i stop at a rest stop and resume travel, my reading may suddenly go to low fuel or very low fuel status, in the middle of no-where. my son in law has a similar vehicle (2007, cadillac escalade) built on the same chassis and experiences the same issue, so i'm wondering if there is a product defect at hand. please help.

we have had trouble with our front wipers turning on and squirting wiper fluid in the off (yes the off) position while we are driving. the car must be turned off and restarted to stop the wipers and squirting fluid. this has happened about 15 times since we bought our new suv. it never does it when we bring it into the dealership so they can't find a problem. the last time it happened, there was very dense white smoke before the wipers started moving and shooting fluid (once again...it was totally in the off position!!!). now the intermittent wiper mode does not work at all. these occurrences are very, very distracting when trying to drive! we just received a recall notice for our 2007 tahoe but i have concerns about possible fire risk because i know we definitely have an issue related to the recall. can we get the recall fixed before november 1, 2008 and still have it covered under the recall? the last episode was this month.

vehicle will accelerate and max out at fuel cut-off. acceleration is unresponsive to brake application to include 100% application, resulting in smoke and odor. vehicle cannot be stopped other than placing the vehicle into neutral and turning the ignition off. upon restarting the vehicle, rpm will immediately climb to in excess of 5000 rpm. acceleration problems normally occur at higher speeds but have occurred also on city streets. the problem then resets itself at its discretion. cheverolet has been "working" on finding the problem since september, total in excess of 90 days. i was provided with a vehicle data recorder (vdr) to image the issue. vdr has a cable plugged into vehicle computer the dangles between the gas/brake pedal and driver posing an additional hazard. vehicle is an extreme safety hazard likely to result in great bodily injury and/or death. i am unable to and have been unable to enjoy and utilize the vehicle for the purposes to which it was intended for/purchased and have been placed in a severely risky position by chevrolet. in addition, control of the vehicle in inclement weather has been compromised due to failure of the stabilitrac where it engages and disengages without application of the button. this issue has also been raised with chevrolet but no codes were read due to the vehicle being turned off, causing a reset (per chevrolet). however, when stabilitrac problem surfaced yet again, problem was witnessed by chevrolet service rep but no work could be done due to an open ticket with gmc regarding the acceleration issue. chevrolet has downloaded images/information from the vdr and has stated that there is/are issues and reset and returned the vdr to me requesting again that i take more images when my vehicle is stuck in acceleration and to be careful. initial attempt for this repair in september noted "drivable concern." problem is recurring from 0-9 incidents each day. i am concerned for the safety of others as well as myself.

i purchased a new 2007 chevy tahoe in july of 2007. september 2007 i had to take the suv in to have the rear window defogger cable reattached to the rear window, it fell off. after discussing with service manager, i was told that it was a design defect, the wire was not long enough and the tension from opening the rear glass causes the cable to break free. they had a window company re-attach it, one week later, i was back in and a new rear window was ordered. in november 2008 i had the cable break free on the replaced rear window, i had it repair, than the other side detached. i called the dealer and they advise that it could not be fixed based on the instructions from the released service corporation bulletin (#03-08-48-006e). i feel since this bulletin was released, this is a confession of a design defect and the customer should not be liable. they ordered a new window and it was charged to my extended warranty company, i had to pay 100.00. i feel this is an engineering design issue and gm needs to address this issue in a recall.

repeated power failure. battery died and had to be jump started on at least 4 occasions from 11-07 through 12-07 several other times tried to start and truck struggled. had to turn off radio and lights then would start. took to dealer (vista chevrolet) on 12-17-07 and asked to have system tested.. instead they just replaced battery. asked for system to be tested again july and august 08 (bob stall chevrolet) and it was not done currently having battery problem again but now is out of warranty and gm will not pay for diagnosis even though issue was discovered under warranty. some mornings truck will not start, other times it has been we sat parked for 10 minutes and then truck would not start. i feel there is a defect in our power system but gm and the dealers refuse to investigate unless i pay them for diagnosis.. i will be getting diagnosis from a part store before i pay for it. even after diagnosis they claim no guarantee they will pay for any needed repairs even though issue was discovered under warranty.

truck rolls back when on incline even while in park, and it does not stop, i also noted truck would not go into v$ mode and was shifting a little rough in lower gears. july of 2008 took to bob stall chevrolet for oil change and asked for it to be checked (as well as power system) returned to pick up my vehicle and they insisted tranny was fine as there were no error codes. i mentioned power issue and they claimed to not have time to test (they had the truck all day, it was also not on the roll) unsatisfied i returned again with the truck for another issue (moldings) and asked for it to be tested. received my truck at end of day with moldings fixed but only an assurance my transmission was fine and all was normal, not even mention off battery problem. i returned then a third time to dealer and had to insist they drive the truck and full test transmission. after having my truck a full day i finally was informed that yes my tranny had a problem. their tranny tech drove it and noted the problem in lower gears and after inspection (opened up transmission) discovered burnt bands. my transmission was rebuilt with 2 clutch packs replaced. issue of roll back was claimed to be normal. it took several attempts for this issue to be taken care of and i feel the diversion wa sintentional.. a few more miles.. out of warranty.. poof they would have kindly discovered problem then charged me for it. i have also heard of several others with transmission issues and suspect a design or assembly flaw.

vehicle was vandalized resulting in replacement of 2007 model dual climate control cluster from gm. replacement part superseded 2007 model for the 2008 model, as the 2008 model is "better" design. the 2008 model however has a different color backlight display, resulting in uncontigous lighting on the interior. resulting in further deterioration of vehicle value. gm specifications fail to recognize the difference in lighting color, and are unable to replicate the 2007 climate control cluster. still waiting for solution to this problem after 6 weeks of working with gm corporate, and local dealership.

we purchased a 2007 chevy z71 tahoe on june 3 2007. a month after we got it the battery was dead. we charged it thinking that since we didn't drive it very much ( a vacation vehicle only) that the battery wasn't charged. about 6month later it was dead again. it was looked at the garage we purchased it from and they couldn't find anything. in december 2008 after the 4th time of a dead battery and trying to get a ride to work we had a new battery put in it. on june 9 2009 it was dead after 6 month on a new battery. i was going to leave it at the pittsburgh airport while we went on a trip but i can't cause i don't know if it will start when we get home and it 125 mile from where we live. i want something done the lemon l comes to mind. i have read so many forum on this with no idea how to fix it even the garage has no idea what is drawing the battery . i want some answer.

2007 chevrolet tahoe shows check engine light and gas gauge goes crazy, bouncing from empty to full and sometimes landing on a random reading. when gas gauge is not functioning properly, vehicle shows low fuel, even after filling up the truck. sometimes after filling up, the problem "resolves" itself - but other times, the gauge is still unreliable. this is a well-known problem for these vehicles and can be a safety issues should one run out of gas in busy traffic or in an unsafe area.

2007 chevrolet tahoe lt3 dashboard cracked. cracked while driving on highway. -1 crack 10" long directly in front on steering wheel running from defrost vent towards driver. -3 cracks 6-8" long radiating outward from passenger side airbag towards center of dash and windshield. i'm afraid that if the tahoe is involved in a collision and the front airbags deploy, pieces of the dash will become detached, injuring the occupants. i have filed a complaint directly with gm, they replied that the crack dash is not a manufacturing defect (they never inspected the vehicle). i was told by a gm representative, if i was concerned for my safety, i should replace the dashboard in the tahoe at my own expense. many other individuals have posted photos/descriptions of the same issue with their 2007 tahoe/yukon on the internet.

i reported to chevrolet that my tahoe was making a clunking sound when turning the steering wheel. i also informed them that i had gone to a local service shop to have three wheel alignments as the tires were feathering (inner wear of the tire). date are 05/31/2008 wheels replaced(2) and alignment done. 07/15/2009 2 wheels replaced. 11/05/2009 alignment done, 01/25/2010 alignment done. dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a faulty intermediate drive shaft after a week long inspection. shaft was replaced at dealer on 02/2010. service advisor states that the intermediate steering shaft has nothing to do with the tire wear.

i just read that the nhtsa is investigating the interior door handles on the 2007 tahoe. i have had this problem many times, and so has my wife. it's the seam where the two pieces of 'fake' chrome come together at the top of the door handle - think of a razor sharp piece of plastic every time you try to open your door. i took it into the dealer (john l. sullivan, roseville, ca) where we bought it and they said there was no recall and that there was nothing they could do - pretty typical of a dealership i find. so i've just been dealing with it; that and nasty cuts on my fingers. i finally took a razor and shaved the pieces down, but now the white plastic of the handle is exposed. it looks horrible.

i am the owner of a 2007 chevy tahoe. a few months ago i notice a crack in several places on my dashboard. the most visible crack was located next to the passenger airbag. i am afraid that because this crack is next to the airbag it may possible cause the airbag to deploy and cause serious injuries to a passenger or cause me to be involved in an accident.

the chrome on my interior door handle of my 2007 chevrolet tahoe is separating at the seem. when i went to exit the vehicle the edge cut my two fingers badly, more than just a paper cut. the chrome is as rigid as a piece of aluminum from a soda can.

the chrome "paint" on the interior door handles has flaked off and when you open or shut the door from the inside, it gives you a "paper cut." it has cut my fingers several times, you don't even think about the actions of opening or shutting the door before you do it because it is second nature so it is hard to do something to prevent it.

i own a 2007 tahoe lt. the dash is crack above the speedometer and by the passenger air bag. my interior door latches are also peeling and are sharp enough to slice a finger. these problems seem to be pretty common and should be taken care of by gm. you wonder why customers decide to buy imports. customer service is a big part of repeat business.

2007 chevy tahoe ltz has multiple electrical issues. last year, i started noticing issues in may. car exhibited random starting failures (no starter turning - like dead battery) which will resolve and begin functioning on its own after time passed. battery was replaced by dealer with no resolution. major fluctuations and activation of the warning lights in the dash ( abs, suspension service, traction control, backup assistance, cruise control, check engine, all needle gauges fluctuate randomly, trip computer information deactivates randomly) noted during normal driving. door locks also randomly lock while driving or idling. windshield wipers periodically turn and washer fluid is expressed. the transmission shift roughly when these issues are being seen. also, the air conditioner will cease cooling the air during these times but continue to run the blower fan ( just uncooled air). all these problems will come and go randomly. all these symptoms were reported and the car was taken to the dealer in summer 2009. multiple cpu modules were replaced and the car seemed better. now the issues are arising again and more frequently. the 2007 tahoe ltz was taken to the dealer again yesterday. gm personnel were very confrontational when discussion the issues of a design/production/manufacturing defect, yet the service manager could practically recite verbatim the issues i was having as i started to describe the initial problems. he admitted that this was very common , and he stated the bcm could be out. that along with several other modules were replaced already last year. i have heard and read numerous similar problems on this year tahoe. someone within the regulating agencies needs to step in and force a review. gm already charged me $3000+ last year to "fix" this. now, they are already balking at the idea that there is a gm manufacturing or quality issue causing all these frequent issues. the consumer needs to be protected.. soon.

i just purchased a used 2007 chevy tahoe and i have cut my fingers on both door handles. it seems that they used cheap chrome plated handles and it is pealing. it is razor sharp. i am just glad neither my wife or kids got cut. please research this and see if there are others. dealer will not replace because the vehicle has over 36,000 miles. this should be fixed! thanks

early last week, i took my wife's vehicle to a local tire dealer close to my home to have four new tires put on. one of the tire pressure sensors was bad so i went & bought a new one so it could be replaced. while switch was on (engine not running), the tire man began to re-train the sensors. in the process of all this & being indoors & the head lights were on (again engine not running) the battery ran down & the vehicle would not start. he had to use a jump box to start the car. during the running of the engine every idiot light came on & started one at a time to go out. after i left i found that the only thing that was changed was the engine hours re-set to zero. i looked on-line & found that there are several blogs concerning the same as i have described above with the same result. so i contacted gm via email on their web site to tell them the above. they called me back & claimed they never heard of such. they suggested i talk to my local chevrolet dealer & find out what needed to be done. i explained all the above to edwards chevrolet in birmingham, al. the service manager ask if anything else was going on besides the engine hours? i told him no. he said i should not worry about it. the next day the gm man called me back & i told him what the service manager said & he said ok but i probably need an electronic control module (ecm) & i said i ain't buying nothing as nothing else was going on with the car. now i have gotten several calls from a woman at gm saying she has talked to the service manager at edwards and he told her the problem did not happen at edwards (even after i told gm that edwards had nothing to do with this) & happened at a independent dealer (which i already stated) & now the gm woman says i need to purchase a new instrument cluster. here's what i see, this is a gm issue, not the chevrolet dealer or the independent tire dealer. i have said all i am going to gm about this matter & i hold them responsible for this. maybe now a ford???????

i have a 2007 chevy tahoe ltz with 60k miles on it now. my girlfriend normally rides with me and has cut her hand on several occasions now on my interior door handle that is peeling. it started with the front passenger side door handle, and now all 4 door handles are peeling on the car and the metal that is still on poses a serious cut risk. i went to the dealer and so far they told me they can replace the parts but at a cost and labor to me, not covering any portion. after researching this it seems to be a major problem with my type of car model and i feel like gm should deal with this crappy part and replace for free.

2007 tahoe ltz. my tahoe caught on fire as i was driving down the freeway on 9/10/10. i saw smoke in the back of my suv as i was driving. i pulled over and looked in the back of the suv. flames were coming from the drivers side back end of the auto. it took the firemen 20 minutes to put the fire out. my insurance company is saying it must be mechanical, which they start to tell me that type of fire is not covered and they are not covering damages, which the suv is totaled. but the fire was only in the rear of the suv. i'm sure this will be a battle! other things are my windshield also comes on random times with the water spraying whenever it wants. door handles in the middle of the handle was sharp and had to be replaced. lettering on buttons doesn't seem to last. lot's of seat belt problems.

i owe a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. i noticed in july of this year that there is a 2-3 inch crack on the top left corner of the dash on the passenger's side--right on top of where the air bag is! i took the vehicle to the dealer and they said "since it's not a safety issue" general motors said they will not replace the dash! how do they freaking know it's not a safety issue when it's on top of the air bag??? and now there's another crack! this one is just to the left of the driver's side instrument panel on top of the dash! this crack is 6-7 inches long. i take super good care of my vehicles, sun shades, regular conditioning, etc. and since the vehicle is 4 years old, there is no reason (other than crappy workmanship and crappy materials and crappy engineering) to have not one but two cracks on a $50,000 vehicle! so i'm guessing when my air bag fails on my passenger side and when my daughter gets hurt in a wreck because the airbag doesn't properly deploy, then it will be a safety issue because i will be all over general motors. this is not an isolated incident. check the internet. hundreds of complaints of the same cracks happening. gm is aware of the problem and is choosing to do nothing about it. please look into this issue and help us get this problem resolved.

i have a 2007 chevy tahoe and both the driver and passenger interior door handles have began to peel and are very sharp. my wife and myself are very careful when we open or close the doors so as to not cut ourselves, but my 2 year old son was in the front seat while i was cleaning the inside of the car and cut his hand on the door handles. it wasn't bad enough to need stitches but believe this is a defect that gm should replace for free, to prevent worse cuts from happening.

less than two weeks after i purchased the truck the battery i went to start the truck and the batter was dead. i got a jump for but a few days later, the same thing happened. i took my truck to the dealer and they replaced it however less than two months later, i had trouble starting it again; this time the car would take a few seconds to turn over when i turned the ignition and sometimes i would have to turn the key back and then try again before it started. i took my truck back in to the dealer and this time they replaced the starter. over the last year, the ignition still does the same thing and if i sit and listen to the radio with the car off, the battery will die requiring a jump start. the battery went dead again about two weeks ago and while waiting for someone to give me a jump i tried the ignition again and this time the car started. two days ago, i started my truck and all of the instruments were dead. i checked the fuses and they were fine so i started researching online to discover many more complaints of the same nature detailing electrical problems with the battery, starter and instrument panel. two days after the instruments went out, again the truck wouldn't start when sitting with my truck off and my cell phone plugged into the charger. i waited 20 minutes and turned the ignition and after it clicked a few times, the car started and the instruments came back on. i'm tired of the dealer telling me they don't know what the problem could be when it's clearly an electrical defect and others are and have been having the same problem with 2007 tahoe's. this needs to be remedied asap!

2007 chevy tahoe z71, original owner- vehicle has had consistent problems with battery going dead since vehicle was new. battery replaced by dealer. unable to keep doors open with interior lighting on for more than 5 mins. battery tender added and battery is trickle charged weekly to avoid dead battery. interior lighting has been turned off to avoid dead battery. dead batteries seem to be common on this year vehicle. i am unable to rely on this vehicle to start when i am on long trips from home. i carry a spare optima deep cycle battery & jumper cables with me when i take family on vacation.

i own a 2007 chevy tahoe and i am experiencing problems with the cruise control. i will set it when traveling on the freeway and it will disengage on its own. at first i thought it was something i was doing but it continues to happen and now i realize after seeking information on the web that many tahoe and yukon owners ar having the same problem. i have also experienced some surging and speed fluctuation when it is engaged as have other people who'as comments i have seen on vehicle information web pages. i believe this could be a safety issue and possibly cause accidents. gm told me they were not aware any issues but i know now that this not true. i have seen service bulletins that indicate there are electrical problems with other electrical parts that may effect the cruise control. what options do i have?

i have a 2007 chevrolet tahoe and over the past 3 months, the door handles have begun to come loose and pull off the vehicle. i've done research online and i've found that this is a very common problem. the piece is made of plastic and snaps into place and thus has become loose. all 4 of my doors are experiencing this problem and we've been told that gm is not covering this under warranty (i have an extended warranty as well) because it is considered a "trim" piece for the vehicle. this is another reason why i won't buy another gm car and hope they fail next time. i can't believe the government bailed them out and i would like a return of my portion of taxes given to them for their ignorance, lack of quality and lack of professionalism.

i own a 2007 chevy tahoe. one morning while driving, i applied my brakes and changed lanes to avoid getting hit. my side curtain air bags deployed without any explaination. i called gm to report the incident, they sent an investigator who came out the very next day to inspect my vehicle. he took pictures of my vehicle and downloaded the sensor information. the gm manager told me that the air bags deployed as they should have in an event of a rollover. it was evident that the rollover never happened as there was no other damage to my vehicle. gm denied any fault and denied my claim to get the air bags and my seat belts fixed. i contacted my insurance company, who also inspected my vehicle and replied that the car had a mechanical malfunction and that gm should be liable for my damages. gm has closed my claim and will not talk to me any more. gm has done nothing to correct this failure in my opinion. my vehicle is still under gm extended vehicle warranty and they are not willing to fix it under that claim either.

my mother-in-law was getting in our 2007 chevrolet tahoe. as she was closing the door the handle nicked her finger and cut her. after further investigation, we found that the handle had began to peel and had created a sharp edge. we put a piece of tape over it and have had it that way since. she had a 1" cut on her index finger, which we treated with alcohol and a band-aid.

my 2007 chevrolet tahoe will often show that i have more than a quarter tank of fuel, but will suddenly stall. it does not happen all the time, but rarely do i let the tank drop below a quarter due to the issue. it has stalled out both in my area neighborhood as well as on the highway. also, the digital readout showing estimated mileage left, has shown above 100 miles when the vehicle stalls. the only way to restart the vehicle is to add 2 gallons of fuel or more.

i own a 2007 chevy tahoe with about 46000 miles. about three weeks ago the fuel gauge began to malfunction and read inaccurate fuel levels. i called two of our local dealers and was told by one that the malfunction was caused by a faulty unit inside of the tank. i was told that it would be about a 400.00 repair. i was also told that the malfunctions were wide spread, and they had been making many warr repairs for this same problem. after doing some research online i was amazed to see how many people are experiencing the same problems with out of warr gm vehicles. considering the wide spread problem with the fuel gauges i would hope that gm would voluntarily issue a recall and make the costly repair, even for out of warr vehicles.

while driving with cruise control enabled traveling at 70 mph with rpm at 2000 rpm, the 2007 tahoe surged, jerked if you will, as if the cruise control was telling the vehicle it was going too slow. hitting the brakes did not disengaged cruise control. engine raced to 4000 rpm and locked at 4000 rpm! successfully shifted vehicle to neutral and was able to maneuver vehicle off the road and i can only hope the next person this happens to will be as lucky. had to turn vehicle off to reduce engine rpm from the 4000 rpm it was locked on. called on star and informed them of what happened and they ran a test which indicated no problem. vehicle would not restart on first four attempts. disabled cruise control button on steering wheel, which was glowing yellow, and the engine started. gm customer service contacted, file 71-965035291 and gm refused to replace cruise control as the local dealer in san angelo tx indicated they could not duplicate the concern. if should be noted it was 104 degrees and the engine had been running for over an hour and 100 miles with the vehicle loaded with 5 people and luggage. the local dealer did not duplicate the exact conditions and instead did a test drive of 60 miles without the load or high temperature. talked to sarah at 866 790 8601 ext 12869 and she passed me on to victoria, david, and then back to victoria. i am an equipment engineer and victoria did not appear to have any technical knowledge. gm did not take my offer to remove my cruise control so they could bench test the unit and add heat to drive the faulty component to fail. gm, specifically victoria, wants to wait until someone else has the same problem. i know this lack of action by chevy/gm seems hard to believe but the description i have provided is accurate.

this morning after a heavy rain last night, while taking the kids to school, i heard a water sloshing sound coming from the rear passenger side door. got home and investigated the door- it was literally filled inside with water. upon further investigation, i found that all doors had water in them! scary! i had to leave all 4 doors open for approx 20 min for water to stop draining out! my safety concern here is if these doors are filled (and i'm not exaggerating when i say filled) with water, there must be a risk of electrical shock from the different electrical components inside the doors for windows and/or the power locks.

our 2007 chevy tahoe has had to have 2 door handles replaced in the last 2 years. both handles have experienced the exact same issue. the piece which connects the handle to the door snaps allowing it to move freely from the doors. these incidents both occurred when the person entering the vehicle tried to pull on the handle to open the door. one incident was due to my wife opening the door and the other occurred when a 14 year old tried to open the door. we have had it replaced once and now have to do the same again. since this is a $400 expenditure with parts and service each time. this issue was not covered under warranty so we have to pay for this ourselves.

i have a 2007 chevy tahoe. since i bought the car these are some of the issues i have had with the car- all within the first year - some issues are ongoing. three of the four door handles are frayed and cause cuts. the center console was literally coming apart at the seams. i can hear the sound of wind very loudly with the windows up. shortly after i bought the car - i returned to the service dept. at the dealer (moreno valley chevrolet) advising them that the door locks are not properly operating with the key fob and that the sound of wind was/is very loud and the tires are making noise. well , they replaced, reset, and whatever else to the door locks - and the electronic fob still did not (and does not) work. even after three (or four) attempts to resolve this - i have to use the key, the fob does not work. the dvd player plays at will. at one of those visits - where i advised of excessive noise, the dealer replaced three of my tires and my dvd player - without my request. the service tech says - "oh, they hooked you up." i asked and asked "why" they replaced these things and no one, including the service manager, had an answer. and still - the tires wear unevenly, are loud, and the ride is not smooth and the dvd player plays when it wants to. i took my car to jiffy lube for an oil change and the guy there said, "one day, your tires are going to fall off, this (what the name was-i can't recall) is broken...it's just a matter of time before it falls apart." i took it to the dealer (moreno valley chevy) and they said "cannot duplicate." never, ever another chevy.

i was at a stop light, and the problem happened unexpectedly when i pressed on the gas when the light turned green. my car moved forward just slightly, jerked hard to a complete stop, and it wouldn't drive anymore. i was able to get pushed to the side in neutral, but needed a tow to the dealer. the only working gears were r, 3, 2, and 1. bringing it into the dealer, they confirmed there was a problem with the transmission. i had done some research when this happened and noticed that a lot of people had the same problem, all in the same type of scenario where they were at a complete stop. second issue, not nearly as major is the stabilitrak. the light goes on and off constantly, pretty much from the first year i've had the car. and lastly, the interior chrome door handles have all peeled off and cut me and my passengers several times. the exterior door handles have come loose, the fuel pocket is completely broken, and after a heavy rain, water gets trapped inside the shell of the back door and sloshes around while i'm driving. i have to remove the bottom lining of the door for the trapped water to be released. *kb

peeling interior paint - two of the four doorhandles paint is peeling causing sharp and jagged edges resulting in cut fingers. brakes - all brakes and rotors bad at 39,000 miles and had to be replaced. way too early! now the brakes squeal all the time, are soft and had to be flushed 2 times within 6 months of each other. windows - continuing issues with the windows screeching when going up and down. attempted to fix three times and just keeps repeating. is starting to scuff/scratch the glass and leave oil streaks. was told this is normal. rear liftgate (manual) - struts freeze every winter so that the tailgate does not go up all the way. have hit head on this numerous times. been replaced 3 times and counting.

i was on r&r leave from the middle east from 26 oct 2011 thru 09 nov. on the 2nd of november i attempted to open my driver side door and the pealing chrome on the door handle slit through my middle finger. the pealing is razor sharp and left a one inch cut in the center of my finger. i had to place tape over the door handle to prevent being cut again. who can i contact about this hazard. i am active duty army and i am out of the country quite a bit so if there is a recall on this i need to know. i am the first and only owner of my tahoe.

this is about the 10th time this has happened...stability track comes on- reduces engine power...dealership finally changed the throttle body in june of 2011...not going to believe this- but it has started back up december of 2011...not a happy camper. this is so dangerous. like toyota vehicles accelerating this does the opposite ..it decreases acceleration. you have to get off the highway put your flashes on -shut vehicle off and try to call someone for assistance. i plan to get rid of this vehicle. please notify all owners before it causes major problems. again, very dangerous...not sure what is causing this issue, internet claims bad gas...i just know its awful to be in this situation...

i bought a 2007 tahoe with a mileage of just over 77k, the low oil light came on just as the first oil change was due(3k miles). it was approximately a quart low. the dealership i bought it it had just changed the oil so i thought, "maybe they just didnt put enough in." took it to local station that i get all my work done at to get an oil change. light came on again before the next oil change was due again almost a quart low. i put more oil in and changed again at 83086. at 86147 light came on again and was 1 1/4 qts low, so i added more oil. then at 87098 we were leaving to go on a road trip so i checked oil and it was 1/4 qt low. this appears to be a common problem for this year vehicle according to online reports. i shouldn't be having to add this much oil to the vehicle in such a short amount of mileage. *tt

i have an 07 tahoe and have read from other people that this is happening to alot of others as well. i had my truck inspected at the chevy dealer in lake elsinore. they said it could be a number of things and thought that cleaning my intake system would fix the problem. it was fine for one day then out of nowhere driving on the freeway my stability trac light comes on and the check engine light and says reduced engine power . i had my wife and kids in the truck and find it funny that i guess this has happened to others with different vehicles but the same year gmc yukons. i had the same problem as one and they were near semi trucks. this is not good even worse when you are no longer under the warranty and the dealer can't tell you exactly what it is but wants to try everything. that is wrong. this is dangerous to have happen and even worse when the dealer wants to say they are not exactly sure but find out from reading about others vehicles like mine with the same problem and no help.

i had driven the vehicle for 50 minutes. parked turned the ignition off for 30 minutes. next neighbor knocked on the door and said "your tahoe is on fire". we called the fire department because we could not put the flames out. fire department took only five minutes to get there. once the fire was out we noticed that the tahoe was totaled. from the naked eye it looks like the electrical fire started on the driver side under the windshield wiper. there's huge hole in the dashboard behind the left windshield wiper. i only had the car for 65 days. big disappointment because i really like the 2007 tahoe.

while i was getting my interior handles repaired since they have cracked, i was made aware that one of my door handles was falling off. the interior handles are covered under a recall but not the exterior handle. i was told by the dealer that it happens all the time on tahoes and a quick "google" search confirmed the issue. this problem should also be covered under a recall. i had to pay $160 to repair the handle.

2007 chevrolet tahoe. consumer states several issues with vehicle and request information on recalls, service bulletins, warranties or lemon law *tgw the consumer stated the cruise control down shifted to 2nd while driving at highway speeds and on hills, the starter would hang, there was a noise coming from the ac compressor. the transmission was replaced. however, it continued to hesitate after the vehicle was started, as well as a vibration. there was a clicking noise coming from the differential, the idle needle would rise, while at a stop, the battery drained, the engine stalled, the dash was cracked, there was a problem with the suspension, the tire pressure monitoring system was repaired three times, the passenger side mirror was inoperable, the weather strip had come off the vehicle and there was a clicking noise coming from the u-joint. *jb

as i was driving down the interstate at a controlled speed of 70mph i suddenly noticed the stability and traction icon came on and off every 2 or 3 minutes. as this happened i felt my engine lose power and the steering wheel locked up for a few seconds. this is now happening every day i drive to work or anywhere i drive over 55mph. i have a 4 month old son and i am petrified at would could happen if this does not get recalled or fixed. i have read that service centers can not fix this.

2007 chevrolet tahoe. consumer states after driving on the highway for 15 minutes or so the tire low pressure indicator light on the instrument panel came on *tgw the consumer stated before he took the vehicle to the dealer, the air was checked several times, with no indication of a problem. the consumer then took the vehicle to the dealer, where they replaced the sensor in the right rear tire. however, the problem continued. the consumer went to another dealer, where they ran a test and found no problem. after filing a complaint, the consumer went back to the second dealer where they found a lock problem. they replaced and reprogrammed the rcdlr. the consumer stated the problem is ongoing. also, the doors locked on their own on a number of occasions. *jb

upon inspection of the dashboard it has cracked both above the steering wheel on the left side and at the corner of the airbag on the passenger side. i am concerned that if this cracks any worse the airbag may deploy and injure a passenger or it may cause the steering column to malfunction if the dashboard falls. chevy should be recalling this so that no one is injured.

excessive oil consumption, dealer acknowledged the problem with that model year engine, after taking the vehicle in 3 times about this problem the installed oil deflector per tsb, still has not fixed the problem. vehicle still uses 1.5 quarts of oil every 1000 miles, all maintenance has been done by the book by the dealership i purchased the vehicle from.

the driver's side window switch fried on our 2007 chevy tahoe lt. it literally burned a hole in the side of the switch where the two circuit boards come together. it is a miracle that the entire car did not go up in flames. i've done a little research online and apparently this is not an isolated incident. the 2006-2007 chevy trialblazers and toyota rav4's have had the same issues. i believe there needs to be a recall of some sort in order to make sure this does not happen to anyone else and potentially catch the entire vehicle on fire.

the dash has major cracking around the airbag and on top of the dash in the area of the steering wheel. the first incident occurred in april 2010, had the dash replaced under warranty approximately sept/oct 2010. the second incident occurred in august 2012. same cracks in dash around airbag. i can't help but wonder if these cracks compromise the airbag in any way. or if the vehicle is involved in a collision will the dash pieces become airborne projectiles. have spoken with gm and while they acknowledge that they have had issues with the dash cracking, they do not acknowledge a defect in the dash. a simple internet search provides several instances of these same cracks occurring in many 2007 chevrolet tahoes, avalanches, and 2007 gmc yukons. yes, i could pay to have a new dash installed but it will be the same defective part that will crack again causing the same safety concerns.

my wife was driving down the street at 5:30 am to go to a charity event 5k run. she was going 40mph, on a street that had no traffic on it that early in the morning, when out of the blue, all the side curtain airbags deployed. i contacted gm central office, they did an investigation, then told me that they were not at fault, that the computer on the tahoe said it was about to be in an accident so the airbags deployed. i told him the computer was evidently wrong since my wife was not about to be in an accident. he said that the tahoe functioned normally as it should. i asked him again if it was normal for airbags just to deploy on their own with no evidence of an accident and if the computer "said" so, then evidently the computer is wrong and faulty and something needs to be done before someone gets killed.. he said gm will not admit any fault and they will not pay for it. i am seeking legal counsel for a class action lawsuit. if this had happened in the middle of the day on a crowded interstate, i have no doubt that there would have been a horrific wreck and people seriously injured if not killed. gm needs to own up and take responsibility and do a recall.

this is the second time that the dashboard cracked. i boought the tahoe in 04/13/2010 and had 25,967 miles in june 7, 2011 after paying $350.00 for labor the dealer replaced the dashboard and now a year and four months it is cracked again and i spoke with a services person at the dealer and they told me it is been a year and there is not coverage for. i'm very upset i just can't believe that it only lasted a year so if i spent my money fixing this again how long will it take till it brakes again.

i do not feel safe driving my 2007 chevrolet tahoe as the front dashboard has split open and cracked in multiple places. they appear to be stress fractures, or weaknesses in the way the dashboard is manufactured. i have looked at the internet, and there are many others with the same issue, where their dashboards develop stress fractures and split open. the dashboard has two main problem areas; on the passenger side around the air bag opening, and then again over the "hump" that comes up and over the instrument cluster. this crack in particular is very bad, with these cracks splitting off in different directions. the dashboard is now very weak and has no structural integrity. i would not feel safe if this vehicle was in a crash, as the dashboard would provide no support to protect occupants, and the plastic parts of the dashboard would go flying throughout the cabin. chevrolet needs to take responsibility of this and replace the dashboard.

i notice a crack on my dash board in the seam of the air bag front left side- and then inspected the dash board to find another crack over the steering hump of the dash board heading down toward the vent of the dash board. as i researched this issue i have found several owners with the same issue some under warranty and others not. the issue is the dash board is cheaply made and may cause severe damage if in an accident and since it is located near the air bag it could cause injury.

the oil level low light came on in the car. i took the car to my local mechanic. he also has a 2007 tahoe. he told me to take the car to the local chevy dealer. he has seen this many times in the 2007 tahoe, apparently they burn oil and it is due to a defective design of the piston and piston ring. the dealer paid for his tahoe to be fixed. i was told that gm now uses a minimum participation financial calculator and gm would only pay for 45% of the cost to repair, leaving me with a $1,705.10 repair bill. i was able to get the repair cost down to $850. however, this car is defective. i have not even finished paying for the car and the dealer is telling me i need a new engine due to a design flaw. i think gm needs to do the right thing here and repair their flawed 2007 tahoes. gm clearly knows of the flaw as they redesigned the 2008 piston and piston ring.

car has not been in an accident. just concerns like so many other gm customers. there is a crack that is at the airbag, on the passenger side, that keeps getting bigger. concerned that airbag might deploy, or not work at all. have contacted gm corporate several times telling them about the same issue that other customers are having in this same area. when contacting gm they tell me that they have not heard of this issue, but there are so many customers that have complain online. i was told to take my vehicle to the dealership for further inspection and was told that this could have happen by using armorall, in that case the whole console would be cracked and not in certain places where all other customers are seeing the same exact cracks. actually the entire console is affected with several cracks. if gm was not aware, how come some of their customers consoles have been changed out by the dealership? more than once. they tell me because of the model and the mileage of my vehicle it would not qualify. this is a material issue plus a safety issue if it affects the stability of an airbag. there are even videos on u tube that shows a visual picture.

dashboard has cracked on the passenger side corner above the airbag. dash has not been subjected to stress / pressure. it appears to be a manufacturer defect as this has happened to many individuals online. i fear that this crack will expand and can potentially affect the passenger airbag itself. as this vehicle is a '07 model, it should not crack after less than 5 years normal wear and tear.

noticed a crack on the dash board right above the gauge cluster. have a family member with the same vehicle and saw that their vehicles dash was full of cracks and decided to research the issue. i found blogs and videos through out the internet of people all around with the same problem. my main concern is that i have also found that the next crack in the dash i will see will be on the corner of the dash at the passenger air bag. i'm afraid this could affect the proper deployment of the air bag.

i was traveling on a state highway to an event. this was the second day of the event, so i had traveled the same road the day prior. i slowed to cross railroad tracks. while crossing the tracks, the front and middle side airbags deployed on both the driver's and passenger's sides. the force of the deployment also cracked areas around the interior walls and blew out the rear overhead light. i am not sure exactly what, but something struck me on the top of my head at the time of the deployment. fortunately, i had slowed to cross the tracks or there could have been a different outcome.

2 of the 4 door handles have broken off, they are chrome and expensive to repair. it becomes a safety issue when you can't afford to replace them and children's fingers go between the handle and body of the car. this is an issue that many owners have experienced with this specific automobile.

i was stopped at a red light and as i took off the stabilitrack said it need to be serviced and the engine power was reduced. took to shop and they reset the computer and everything seemed fine. now 4 days later i was in the car wash parked with the car running while i was vacuuming and lost all power and stabilitrack did the same thing. after waiting 10 minutes or so i was able to start the vehicle and drive it to the shop again. they said it is a common problem and it doesn't have a true "fix" at this point.

the molded plastic on the dashboard on the drivers side has an 8" crack that begins where the dash meets the window area and extends up towards the driver and extends up the left side of the rounded portion of the dash that houses the speedometer and other instrumentation. the truck is garaged and i use a window sun screen when parked outside. upon much research there seems to be a known issue with 2007 tahoe specifically, dealer confirmed, with dashboard cracking in the exact location i identified above as well as on the right side by the airbag. i have a concern that the plastic is defective in this year and model and although it is initially thought of as cosmetic (still no excuse), most importantly i fear that the compromised dash will compromise the integrity of the air bag deployment should it be needed. this needs to be reported to chevy which i have done and a recall must be demanded to mitigate any air bad deployment concerns as well as to resolve the terrible cosmetic defect. thank you.

door handles, exterior, passenger side. product design or manufacturing failure... or both. both door handles have failed. first, the rear handle became disconnected inside the door allowing the entire handle assembly to rotate away from the body of the car, causing the handle to become inoperable. second, the front passenger exterior handle, operable portion, came off completely, rendering it impossible to enter the front passenger compartment from the exterior. it is clear from multiple internet posts this is a product design and/or manufacturing failure and should be covered by the manufacturer as a recall. the manufacturer is clearly aware of this issue and the peeling chrome layer that causes personal injury. chevrolet and its dealers are profiting from this defect at the expense of consumers. recall should be ordered! and consumers who have paid for the repair should be reimbursed 100%.

i noticed a crack on the dashboard above the instrument cluster and another next to the passenger airbag. my concern regarding the crack near the passenger airbag is whether this will effect the deployment of the airbag in case of an accident. the crack above the instrument cluster keeps spreading, this concerns me as well since a piece may break off and cause internal damage to the components inside the dashboard. i spoke to the service manager at my local chevrolet dealership. he admitted that there is a problem with these dashboards and hoped that a recall would be issued by the manufacturer. he suggested i contact gm about this issue and see if i qualify for a "goodwill dash replacement". i sent an email to gm. i spoke to 3 gm reps before i spoke to the rep assigned to my case,[xxx]. [xxx] said that they are unable to provide any assistance under the goodwill program because i am the second owner. i advised her that there are many others that have the same issue. my vehicle is experiencing excessive oil consumption due to the active fuel management(displacement on demand) feature. the vehicle consumes approximately 1quart every 1000 miles...the oil is burned through the pistons causing blue-ish colored smoke to come out of the tail pipe. the vehicle comes not a drop of oil if the active fuel management is turned off. every single vehicle from gm that i have tested has had excessive oil consumption due to the active fuel management feature. after that feature is turned off, no oil is consumed. 1 quart of oil is burned is as little as 300 miles. this can cause the vehicle's engine to shut off at any rate of speed due to the oil pressure caused by not having enough oil in the engine. general motors has tried fixing my vehicle and others by replacing the lifters, camshaft, pistons, piston rings, etc..this fix has not worked and many vehicles continue to have excessive oil consumption. vehicles affected range from year 2007 and up (present). my vehicle also has various transmission issues which causes the vehicle to shut down in the middle of my driving and greatly increasing the risk of an accident. general motors has had various repairs but have been unsuccessful. this is a problem for gm suv's with the 4-speed transmission. the oil consumption issue is way more serious than the transmission problem because many people have been affected more by the oil consumption problem. excessive oil consumption also damages the earth's environment because of the excessive smoke coming from the tailpipes.

i went to pull on the exterior door handle on the driver's side and the whole door handle separated from the body of the car! this is the second time this has happened to us. the first time it happened the car was under warranty so it didn't cost us anything to get it fixed. this time however it is not so i'm sure we will be out a nice chunk of change to get it fixed. poor quality considering this is a $50k+ vehicle! gm needs to issue a recall on the exterior door handles.

after driving approx 3 miles, my "stabilitrak off", "traction control off", abs light, check engine light all came on, simultaneously. my speedometer and other gauges started swinging from left to right and then flatlined, my power locks, "locked and unlocked" . when the transmission shifted, the whole tahoe jerked. when i arrived at my destination approx 3 miles further and turned the engine off, attempted to re start and it wont start. this is the fourth time this has happened in two weeks. i have taken to a chevy dealer twice to diagnose. both times they said they cannot find the cause, and all they can do is reset the error codes.

i purchased a 2007 chevrolet tahoe, 2wd, lt1 on 02/20/2013. i immediately noticed that the chrome on the interior door handles was flaking off. i received a cut to my hand when opening one of the interior doors. both the driver and passenger interior door handles are coming apart. i have read several complaints online with this model and it appears that no one has done anything about it. there is also a crack in the dash between the defrost vent and the airbag on the passenger side. a search of the internet reveals several complaints from hundreds of consumers who have reported these same flaws with this same model. also, the trim on the steering wheel and radio buttons are peeling off. the 2007 chevrolet tahoe seems to be plagued with these three part failures and someone needs to look into this. a cut may not seem severe, until the cut doesn't heal properly, leaves permanent scaring and possibly the added threat of infection. i have taken this vehicle to my local chevrolet dealer who stated that these issues were not covered by any warranty or recall. i am interested in a class action lawsuit to correct these flaws. this is the 3rd tahoe i have owned and considered myself a loyal tahoe owner. this is the only model year that i have ever had an issue with. i have photographs showing the flaws and associated vehicle mileage.

my wife was accelerating from our street onto a major highway when the engine nearly shut down. her speed was reduced to just 5 mph and the dashboard flashed engine power reduced, service stabilitrak, and service traction control. unfortunately, she knew exactly what this was since this is the third time this has happened in this car in the last 18! we took it to our dealer and they tested the vehicle and diagnosed that the accelerator pedal sensor had failed again! we are extremely uneasy with the car now since each time this has occurred, it has been while one of us was accelerating onto a highway or interstate. on the previous occasion, she had to quickly move away from oncoming traffic...with our children in the car. the dealer indicated that they see this problem very often, but not this much in one car. this is obviously a defective part and should be checked into immediately.

i have had issues with my door locks going on and off for years and the dealer could never figure out what was wrong with it supposedly. i own a 2007 chevy tahoe lt. i was driving home from work on 05/23/2013 at about 50mph when i lost power for no apparent reason. i was luckily in the outside lane where i could maneuver my vehicle off the road without getting hit from behind as quickly as possible. at first i thought it was a dead battery and the tow truck jumped me and it started just fine so i replaced the battery the next day. then i tried to start it the next day and nothing electrical would turn on when i turned the key. tow truck came again to jump me and i took it to the dealer and they said it was the battery cables right from the get go. the service manager has been there for 15 years and knew exactly the issues i was having. they replaced the cables to a cost to me of $500!!! he said that chevy knows it's an issue but because there aren't enough people experiencing it they won't do a recall..absolutely ridiculous!!!!! they are lucky my kids weren't in the car and that nobody was hurt because i would have filed the biggest lawsuit they ever saw!!!!

i own a 07 chevy tahoe lt & have had problems with the stabilitrac system since i bought it under warranty from the chevy dealer. originally all my car did was turn off the stabiltrac and say service stabilitac then it started to turn it self into safety mode where it reduces engine power &won't let you basically drive,then it started locking the doors by itself i have taken it in several times only to have the dealerships garage tell me its a different issue every time, everything from the bearings to a tiny cord. well my car has continued to randomly put itself in safety mode for no reason&a few weeks ago i was driving on the freeway in the fast lane going the 65mph speed limit when it suddenly said engine power reduced service stabiltrac again & suddenly dropped my rate of speed to 15 miles to per hour without any pre warning.i barely made it to the next lane and then the shoulder and came so close to getting into a major accident i was so shaken.i let my car sit for a minute&like it always does it went right back to being fine.i took it back to the chevy dealer who said there was nothing wrong with it (after a $200 bill to look at it) the next day it did it again this time on a highway where the speed limit was 55 mph.i was so shaken up with my little guys in the car that i contacted the chevy corp who at first said they were aware there was a problem with some 08 & newer tahoes like this then when i asked them to fix mine they recanted their story saying they never heard of this problem.i decided to research it myself and have found hundreds and hundreds of posts&forums of people saying the exact same thing. which is why i am contacting you, if this is happening in many chevy/gmc cars w/stabilitrac this is soooo dangerous.to have your car suddenly reduce power to 10-15 miles per hour (with no brake lights or warnings to people behind you) is extremely dangerous.

my wife and daughter were coming home from a 15 hour trip to oklahoma when the stability traction control light came on and then went off. the next thing that came on was service stability traction control, the vehicle didn't lose power and they drove on to a gas station for fuel and restroom break. when she got back in the car she turned the key and the vehicle just kept trying to crank itself over and over again. the whole time this was going on the engine was shaking violently and after 15 minutes of trying to start the vehicle she gave up and called someone to drive 2 hours pick her and my daughter up so they could get home. the next morning i went to get the vehicle and it started right up with no problems. but after some research on this issue have found that this is a big problem and gm and the dealers have no clue on how to fix it. i cannot believe that gm hasn't recalled the vehicles as this is a deadly safety issue and i am now afraid to let my wife drive the vehicle. but how can gm go on knowing that this is a issue which will eventually turn into lawsuits when someone is seriously hurt or killed due to this defect.

the monitor or sensor of the car was not detecting if the vehicle is functioning accurately. it is not detecting the pressure of the tire. so we went back to the dealership particularly to salesperson who sold us the car. he said, it does it sometimes. when we are fillin in its gas tank, it shuts off the gas nozzle after a gallon or two, which is actually strange, so we told the dealership again about it, they said it's probably the gas station. we talk to the gas station attendants, they always say they are not shutting the gas nozzle off. we occasionally hear its creaking sound when we drive it, and when we told the dealership again about it, they said it is just because it doesn't use a brake pad that's why. the steering wheel also sometimes make noise when turning, but their comment is unable to verify the cause at this time. i contacted their customer service about the issues we have with the car even the service manager didn't like it, and until now they still can't do anything to help us out. they said our warranty has already expired, but why they didn't fixed them when we first came to them a few days after we bought it. the car is just 23,000 miles though it's a 2007 model, because we can't use it all the time. we are not that confident to bring it all the time and put our children in it. right now the engine light is on, i have renewed its registration already, but we can't drive it on the road hoping that the manufacturer will do some corrections with the car, but they said they can't because the warranty already expired. we know it's not going to pass the emission test because its engine light is on. we've been telling them about the issues but they are not paying attention, even it's still under warranty and just waiting for the warranty to expire so they will have no further obligation to us.

went to dinner and drove home with no indication of any problems. pulled up to a stop sign, stopped and began to drive forward. suddenly we heard a loud bang, the rpm's raced to 4k and the vehicle was stuck sitting at the stop sign. no drive, or 3rd. we were able to move it in reverse and slightly in 2nd but had to strain up hill to get our car and kids home in the dark in 1st gear. got home and checked my transmission fluid because it had been flushed 14k miles ago and i wanted to make sure there was a proper amount of fluid in the transmission not causing this issue. transmission fluid was pink, clean and measured where it should on the dipstick. i researched transmission problems on the internet in which people had the same no forward movement in 3 or 4 but 1, 2 and rev. ok. found out that there is an issue that thousands of people are having with the 4l60e transmission that gm has produced due to a faulty forward sprag component that was built with cheap stamped metal and they released a tsb pertaining to an updated component! i do not tow anything with tahoe and have made it to 113k miles on my transmission. im being challenged to provide records of my transmission service being done. i have worked for a car dealer as a service advisor for 10+ years and have always purchased all of my parts from a gm dealer to ensure my vehicle would run and drive properly. i am fortunate enough though to not have to pay the dealership labor rate as i have one of my technician to perform my services regularly. i just purchased fluid from our gm dealer and had a complete trans flush at 100k miles like recommended by gm. it has been a problem since 2008 and vehicles affected by this causing a tsb release were not due for trans service yet! it is evident that this problem is not due to lack of maintenance but from poor quality parts that gm claims are built to last! junk!

there were multiple cracks in the dashboard and gm replaced at no charge while vehicle was still under warranty. the new dash developed another crack...this time it is a fairly large piece that has split and could fall out. i notified gm and they offered to replace it if i would pay a $200 deductible. i refused as the initial dash problem was identified while still under warranty period. the fact that it has cracked again while being no more than 2 years old is indicative of a material defect on their part. i have "never" had a dash in any vehicles i have owned (ford, nissan, mazda) crack except for gm. it would be nice to have confidence that pieces of a gm dash will not fly inside the cabin of a vehicle and strike someone should there be an accident in the future. there are well over 200 people on facebook complaining about the inferior dash quality of some gm vehicles and are frustrated that gm has not corrected the problem. this issue also means that i take a financial hit should i try to sell the car because of a faulty dash. gm is wrong. *jb

i recently experienced a known electrical issue for the first time yesterday. i just had my tahoe at the dealer last week for strange clacking noise under the hood. they stated i would just have to wait until it did it again. yesterday everything went haywire and my tahoe appeared possessed. door locks, gearing shifting was affected making it difficult to drive and steer due to loss of power steering, which could have caused serious risk to others around me and my two children in the car. turning to the internet and finding that i am one of what is probably thousands complaining of the same issue makes my extremely concerned that gm is not looking out for its current and future customers. i will be filing a complaint with the attorney general's office, ntsb and now with the state of nc immediately. not only have we dealt with this issue. we have long dealt with the oil consumption issue that gm continues to say is "normal" consumption. extremely disappointed in gm and how they are handling major component issues. we also own a jeep wrangler and they are been absolutely amazing anytime we have an addressable issue. *ln

we purchased a 2007 tahoe in august 2012. since this time, my wife and i have both experienced multiple electrical starting issues with the vehicle. a jump start or boost will often allow the vehicle to start. however, there have been situations where we have not been able to find an available boost. we have been stranded in parking lots, family vacations, work, and our kids games or practices. as noted in many of the complaints, the starting problems are intermittent and there are times a boost will not start the vehicle. in fact, we even began to lose power traveling at highway speeds during a family vacation this past summer. this is very disturbing issue for gm and their apparent inability or unwillingness to correct the problem. in addition to the starting / loss of power problems, a cracked dash and faulty cruise control is something that should not happen with the technology available. based on a review of the complaints, it may likely be a battery cable issue. gm must recall this known problem!!!

the rear exterior door handles had broken off. it was originally repaired by a chevrolet dealer; however it broke again within a couple of months. it has since broken about 10 times and should be subject to a recall or a class action lawsuit. this was a $55k vehicle brand new when i purchased it in 2007. this is also a safety issue as people can break in. in addition, it's not safe for children to open the door as the handle separates from the body and pushes back in, possibly causing a child's hand to get caught in between the body and the underside of the handle.

2007 chevrolet tahoe lt, strong burning odor coming from the driver's door. parked vehicle, investigated problem, and initially could not determine a cause. the next morning, entered the vehicle with a strong odor of burnt plastic and light smoke in the passenger compartment. could not determine a cause. vehicle started up without any problems, appeared to be in normal running order, until i attempted to open the driver side window. the entire driver's master control module was not working. pulled the assembly apart to find the power connector to the module had shorted out and began to melt the module itself and the 6 pin connector, requiring replacement of master control module and entire wiring harness. the inside of the door did have evidence of incomplete combustion but snuffed itself out before it could progress further. the module and connector has soot - indicating combustion began to occur. mileage 120,000+/-

the forward sprag unit broke which ended up not only causing the vehicle to come out of drive while we were driving but also caused significant enough damage to the transmission to requite an entire rebuild. faulty transmissions are a very common issue with this vehicle and because the company refuses to back their products and recall the issue, it ends up becoming a huge financial burden on a family. thankfully there was no one following directly behind us when this happened or it could have been much worse. chevrolet needs to take note and stand behind their products. consumers have a right to expect a quality vehicle that should last well beyond 100k miles without requiring this kind of major repair.

at 90,000 miles, all of my rear bearings were bad and had to have them replaced, basically a whole new rear end. luckily it was covered under the 100,000 mile power train warranty. i have only towed a trailer twice with my tahoe, so obviously a defect somewhere. second issue is that there are 2 cracks on the dashboard; one in the area of the passenger side air bag, and the other on the backside of the drivers side steering column. these both occurred about the same time, around 100,000 miles. obviously this is a widespread issue. gm needs to be replacing these dashboards on their dime and not expecting the customer to foot the bill for this defective product. it is definitely a safety issue. should the airbag system have to deploy, pieces of plastic would become projectiles that would harm anyone inside the vehicle. the third issue i have, that began today at 109,000 miles, are involving the instrument panel. the speedometer did not work, the light that indicates which gear you are in did not come on, and the seat belt light and air bag light were on even though i was wearing my seat belt. i'm not sure what is causing this, and i'm hoping it is just a bad fuse. i am so dicouraged with my tahoe lately. all of these little things going wrong have really made me leary of buying another gm product, and i've been excited about the 2015 redesign. not so much now.

rear defrost cable came off numerous times had dealer fix at least twice and then they replaced whole back glass then cable still continued to come off . it only came off during months defrost was being used, cold weather. cable connection seemed to be melting off from solder. this too seems to be common among 2007 chevrolet tahoes. also since owning this tahoe the windshield wipers have never seemed to be wiping fast enough in a hard rain,( not a downpour, just steady heavy rain) it is very hard to see through windshield. with vehicles i have owned in the past, mostly chevrolets, i have never had this problem.

in our 2007 chevrolet tahoe the dash is cracked just above the passenger side airbag which could cause serious injury in a crash. the interior wiring must be faulty, the passenger window sometimes won't roll down from drivers side, but sometimes it will. also our battery mounts different than what is called for in automotive centers (top mount , not side) making it difficult to order proper battery for this vehicle.

i was driving along and the speed control just stopped working. i reset it and the first bump in the road it stopped working. we took it for repair and it worked for about a yr. then the same problem. we had it fixed again and it lasted about another 2 yrs. it has again failed several times to work at all and then you can get in the car and start driving and it will work. currently, it won't come on at all...this apparently is a problem with the chevy tahoe and needs to be recalled. it is very dangerous to drive at 60 mph and all of a sudden it drops quickly in speed. also, our tahoe is garage kept and about a month ago, i noticed a crack in the dash board on the drivers side. i see that this too is a problem with thousands of tahoe. we have had several electrical problems where the door windows stop working, the seats won't move and have had that fixed twice. we also have had the rear door stop working whenever it feels like. we have had that in to the dealer on three occasions. we gave up taking it back. here again no recalls. we also have problems with the tire pressure monitoring system. they work when they want to. why haven't these items been recalled by gm. the dealers know that its a problem, but we still have to pay the bill to get it fixed. if you look on here, thousands of people have the same issues. we have owned many chevys including corvette and 2 tahoes but since gm won't stand behind their products like they should, we will be buying another brand,nissan or honda next time.

vehicle #1 (my 2007 tahoe lt3) was traveling north on hwy 278 in powder springs, ga. vehicle 2 (toyota 4runner) was traveling south. vehicle 2 crossed center line and went into a spin crashing into the door and right front wheel and fender which propelled/launched my 2007 tahoe across one lane of traffic into the guard rail striking the guard rail with my passenger front fender and bumper. my tahoe was totaled by insurance. onstar which i have paid for since 2007 did not register the crash and my air bags did not deploy. i suffered severe whiplash from being hit in the driver side then an second impact as i hit the guard rail. my seat belts protected me from the driver side impact; however, because my right shoulder and side of my body thrown across the tahoe console for the impact of the guard rail, i suffered injuries to the right side of my body as well. the left impact and then the right side impact caused severe whiplash and ensuing headaches.

exterior door handles break off; have replaced driver side rear (jan 2014) and passenger side front (feb 2014). appears that the plastic casing around the screw, which mounts the handle to the door, cracks and breaks. cost to repair is about $150 each time (door panel must be removed to replace). note - bought tahoe used july 2013. dealer where vehicle was taken for repair stated that this is a problem they see with this vehicle.

while vehicle was sitting still not running, not in use. vehicle was setting in my driveway, weather was around 45-50 degrees and the dash cracked in 3 spots, 2 spaces above the instrument cluster and one over the air bag area., i have did extensive research on internet and verified that there is several cases of this happening in this particuler make/model and year of vehicle. if there was an accident the material from the dash cracking could cause cuts/or extensive wounds by producing flying debis from the air bag going off since the dash is cracking over the air bags. i have contacted gm/chevrolet and had the vehicle inspected per their request, they didn't admit there wasn't a manufacturing flaw but they denied repairing the vehicle stating that i wasn't the original owner even though i bought gm dealreship. the service department where the vehicle was inspected verified the cracks in the dash and they were very large.

i was backing out of a parking space and all of a sudden an alarm i had never heard before started going off in my car and i couldn't move my steering wheel causing me to hit a handicapped parking sign/pole in the parking space next to the one i was trying to back out of. i couldn't get my wheel to turn to get it off the sign and i thought for sure the whole left side of my fender would be demolished. when i exited my vehicle, it only tore the paint off the fender and a small dent, it is barely noticeable, but i was hardly going any speed at all since i was backing out. it could have been much worse.

ok- just to let u know we no longer have this vehicle. i was to scared that my family would get seriously injured in this vehicle. the stability track would cause this vehicle to decrease engine speed. i would have to pull over on a highway, shut the vehicle off and reset until i could bring it to the dealer. after seven times at dealership after several years, i could not trust it. it was not very dependable. please now that the light has been brought on regarding gm and the cruze vehicle, please recall this year model. so scared someone will be seriously injured. i have all records on this vehicle. front differential started making a very loud noise. it became even louder in 4-wheel drive. while in 4-wheel drive the vehicle didn't feel right. i brought to the dealer who stated water got into the differential, and it had to be rebuilt. this is the 3rd time i have had an issue with the front differential. all 3 times, including this one, was due to the failure of the pinion seal. the first repair on 11/06/09 was covered under gms manufacturers factory warranty. the next 2 repairs, including this one, cost me a total of $1,435.49. i can only wonder how dangerous it was driving around in 4 wheel drive with a differential that was ready to catastrophically fail?

the r/f door handle caused a laceration to the passenger's hand. an inspection of the door handle revealed that the chrome plating is peeling at the mold seem, resulting in a razor sharp edge along the entire top of the handle. inspection of the other door handles revealed similar peeling that can cut anyone who comes in contact with the peeling metal plating.

myself and a friend were driving on the i75 to cincinnatti, ohio and my truck was fine, no issues, no problems, and all of the sudden halfway there there was construction signs and majority of the vehicles that were driving in the right lane had to hurry up and switch lanes, in the process of getting over myself an others hit this pothole that was in the middle of the lanes that was supposedly being worked on ,but there were no cones or anything around it. as soon as i hit it and was trying to get over my stabilitrak and traction light came on and my truck started jerking real bad, by the time i actually made it to where i was going my engine light had came on too and my truck was acting like it was going to cut off , it started smoking and i stopped by a gas station and people there tried to help me and told me it was best for me to try to make it home which is xenia, ohio or i was going to get stuck in cincinnatti. it took a couple days for me to actually get it in the shop which is lang's chevrolet in bevercreek, ohio and when i took it there none of the body shop men knew what it was, then because of that they said we can take the engine apart but your going to be charged $1500.00 and if it's not that then i will be charged for them to put it back together and whatever i want them to do. now being that you are a certified auto mechanic isnt it your job to know what it is? i'm bringing my truck back to where i payed cash for it and no one knows what it is. to me that is crazy and i'm still having the same issues i'm having with it before. i've took it to several body shops and have payed money to have it looked at for something that it wasnt and no one can tell e whats wrong. so i feel that chevrolet has failed me and so has gm since they own them now. if you dont know whats wrong with it then why sell them? everyone with this problem is being ignored and its sad

2007 chevorlet 2007 tahoe ltz with 62k. i parked the car as usual and locked the doors using the remote. the next morning i went into the car and it smelled like smoke and something had caught fire. none of the driver side door functions worked. i removed the drivers side master switch and the wiring harness plug had burnt our and melted itself to the master switch. the short destroyed both the master switch and wiring harness the car did not trip any fuses in the process. this was a very scary situation considering the car could of completely caught fire in my driveway. there was no moisture in the vehicle when this incident occured. i have pictures of the parts that burnt out. i brought the car to the dealer to have it inspected which said their was no recall for this vehicle.

i have had the dash crack in 4 different places; two on the driver side on each side of the steering column and two other around the airbag. the two around the airbag have made it so that there is free piece of plastic that is not secured by anything. i am afraid that if the air bag was to deploy then this piece would cause great bodily harm to anyone in the vehicle. the manufacturer knows of this issue and is not offering to replace the dash without some sort of compensation.

driver's seat belt does not lock into the receptive device. 2nd row seat belt "tore" when pulled to fasten. electrical issue causing speaker and microphone to become inaudible therefore preventing communication with onstar in the event of a crash, nor alerting driver of vehicle standard safety alerts (low gas, open door indicator, tire pressure indicator, etc.).

dash around airbags is cracking and failing. it's a very common problem and gm refuses to rectify. conceivably a piece of dash could break off during an airbag deployment.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the fuel gauge failed. the fuel tank was full however the fuel gauge read half tank and the following day fuel gauge read empty. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 96,300.

dashboard cracks with sharp edges around airbag causing noisy airbag area vibration and separation form dashboard, it is scary thing to have when my wife or one of the kids in the vehicle with me.

smell of burning plastic in passenger compartment. windows, mirrors and door lock controls stopped working on driver door control panel. removed driver side door panel and discovered one of the plugs to the door controls was melted and discolored. unplugged. no fuses were tripped.

dash cracked where the passenger air bag is located. i fear that the air bags will puncture if deployed or the passenger wil be injured due to dash pieces being projected at them.

they unlock or lock by itself, seats start moving around, radio will act up, the lcd for the dvd player stops working some times, air conditioning won't work on some vents, side mirrors, back trunk door won't work,lights in the car goes dim some times while driving, there is a brand new battery in there, some times once in a while it won't start.

ENGINE

while driving on i-75 in florida coming from kentucky (relocating my mother in law), i and a friend who was taking a turn driving smelled an odor similar to sulfur or natural gas. within 10-15 minutes, smoke started coming out of the front driver engine compartment. driver immediately pulled to the emergency lane as a fireball exploded from the same area as the smoke. we both dove out of the vehicle on the passenger side. the entire vehicle with nearly all the contents burned, all the way down to the tires.

exterior door handles - front passenger door, both rear passenger doors. bolt has broken on all 3 handles and has pulled away from the body of the vehicle. this seems to be a common occurrence for all gm vehicles with these style of exterior door handles. someone could fall and get injured will trying to open a door.

i was stopped at a stop sign when all the lights on the dashboard went out and smoke started coming out of the ignition switch. i turned the vehicle off and removed the key. the smoke stopped but the dashboard started making weird ticking noises.
