VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

EQUIPMENT

chevy has known for almost 2 years that android and blackberry phones do not work with many new chevys. they have a software glitch that they can not repair. this means that owners are not able to safely use their phones while in their cars. i believe that there should be a recall to fix this problem. i personally purchased this vehicle with the knowledge that i had a bluetooth in it. i make and receive a lot of calls while in my car and i can not do this safely with the equinox.

four different times the rear hatch was open and has unexpectedly come down and hit people in the back. no buttons have been pushed to start this action. one time the hatch raised unexpectedly. the chevy dealer has studied the problem and replaced two parts which did not solve the problem. the dealer says they cannot get more information from gm central on solving the problem. a person with a gm terrain had the same problem during the time i have had my equinox problem. i believe he is in philadelpha, but i have found him only by an internet name of "phillythekid" and don't know if his suv got fixed. i believe there must be a gm engineer who designed the hatch system, (which is terribly complicated), and this person could solve the problem. there are several control boxes involved, and numerous interlocks. but no one can reach this person through chevrolet dealers and customer assistance people, and that amazes me. the only reason i find for such a firewall is that gm doesn't want to spend time and money on a problem that is numbered in tens, not thousands. they would just as soon we few people go away and buy another brand. i can find seven instances of unexpected hatch actions on the net that are from various gm suvs. the gm dealers have found nothing in their gm sites. i want my car fixed so no one will be hurt.

adjustable telescopic steering wheel would not lock into position unless it was moved up and down in and out to find gear. dealer replaced steering column but problem still occurs. went back to dealer and they showed me an 2012 equinox on the showroom floor that did same thing. dealer said it is normal for equinox?

POWER TRAIN

after applying the brakes to make a right turn, i then applied the gas to go around a corner. upon applying the gas, the engine revved up much faster than it would normally. i quickly applied the brakes, and stopped forward movement. however,the engine continued to "rev". i put the gear in "neutral" and then "park", the motor continuing to "rev". i drove about 50 ft to the top of the hill, put the gear in neutral, then park, and then shut the motor off. i let the car sit about 30 seconds and started the engine. the engine "revved" as before so i did the neutral, park, engine off sequence again and waited about 30 seconds to start the engine. same problem. after shutting off the engine this time, however, i waited about 4 or 5 minutes to start the engine. this time the engine speed was normal so i drove home. the dealer was notified, and the dealer had the car towed to its dealership where it is at this time. the dealer is van chevrolet-cadillac in kansas city, mo.

the night sandy hit on the east coast, it was windy in michigan. our city was doing leaf pickup around that time so leaves were accumulated at the edges of the roads. the car was being driven through a subdivision on a paved road and it just caught on fire. gm will take no responsibility for the fire. they say leaves blew up under the car and they are what caught on fire. how can vulnerable areas not be shielded from this? the car was about a month old!!! the fire burnt for about 7 minutes. the dealership says that there is nothing they can do. a team from gm inspected the car and they will not even let us see their report. we haven't had a car for over a month and i for one am furious! they tell us if we have the car repaired we lose any right to pursue legal proceedings.... we have to pay $500 (our insurance deductible) to start repairs even though they wont tell us what is damaged even though we purchased additional insurance at the time of purchase through the dealer to cover our deductible in the event of damage... all they say is that it was our fault for not reading the manual regarding driving or parking over leaves... we found reference to it in the off road portion of the manual. the car had never been driven off road.

AIR BAGS

i was stopped in traffic when a vehicle rear ended my vehicle while traveling around 40-50 mph at the time of impact. the force of the impact pushed me forward into the vehicle in front of mine causing extensive damage to my vehicle and the causing vehicle and minor damage to the vehicle in front of mine. the impact caused the airbags to activate which prompted onstar to come on. the airbags never actually activated. the amount of damage caused by the crash was $17,000 to repair which caused the vehicle to be totaled. the amount of damage upon inspection shows that the airbags should have deployed.

CHILD SEAT

the crotch buckle on my child's car seat gets stuck at times which makes it nearly impossible to get my son out. it's happened several times and there doesn't seem to be any reason to why or when it happens. in order to get the buckle to release i have to use so much force that it hurts me and i fear that eventually i will not be able to unlatch it and i will have to cut my son out. i also worry that this will happen during an emergency. i have notified the manufacturer but have not received a reply.

VISIBILITY

filled up my gas tank and when tank was filled and paid for put in d and a huge bang was heard, looked in my rearview mirror to find the glass was shattered. three gentlemen came right to the car and asked what happened cause the heard the bang. one of the men cleaned the glass out of my window so i could go 15 miles home. i then made a claim to my insurance company after call the dealership where it was purchased and them telling me it was anything they did, report it to your insurance company.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

the fuel line on the 2012 equinox (is a flex fuel, don't know if that makes any difference) is plastic and not protected from road hazards. the line runs close to the frame on the driver's side from the rear to front of the car. about where the driver side passenger door is, the fuel line has blue plastic connectors fastening the plastic fuel line. this section of fuel line and the blue connector tabs sit lower than the vehicle frame. (there is also another section in from the rear tire that sits a little higher, but still unprotected) . road hazards such as ice chunks, hard snow, dirt/gravel roads with ruts or high center, dirt clots, rocks, dead animals or anything that is about 7- 8 inches or higher ( or gets knocked up there) will break these plastic connectors or fuel line and gas will pour out of the vehicle. my fuel line broke by hitting a small mound of snow that had frozen overnight, by backing out of my driveway. after quickly noticing the fuel leak i rushed to a local auto shop (less than 4 miles) and lost about a full tank of gas before getting there. none of the local dealers had this part, was without a vehicle for 3 days.

POWER TRAIN

upon acceleration, when the transmission upshifts into 2nd gear it will go into neutral. the engine will rev up but the vehicle just coasts. if you take your foot completely off the gas it will eventually slam into gear and will resume driving but has erratic and hard gear changes and may also go back into neutral again. this will last for the entire drive cycle unless you pull over and turn the ignition off and restart the vehicle which resets the system. it does not turn on the cel light or store any failure codes or information. it is a intermittent issue with no set pattern. very dangerous when you are pulling out into traffic or attempting to merge or pass another vehicle. i traded in a 2011 equinox with the exact same problem for this 2012 equinox when the dealer could not correct it. i have checked various equinox forums and i am not the only person that is having this issue. just a matter of time before someone gets run over because the vehicle will not accelerate.

when the car is excelling from a stopped position, around the time the car is reaching 10 mph, braking for a complete stop than having to accelerate before coming to a complete stop; such as when a stopping for a red light and the light turns green, or slowing down from exiting the interstate the vehicle will shift hard, making a 'clunk' type sound. also, while driving under normal conditions the steering wheel will make sudden small jerking motion. both problems have occurred multiple times, in various driving conditions. the cruise has been on and off when the steering issue has occurred; the traction control has been on and off when the steering issue has occurred. i drive in 'eco' mode regularly. and i am not including sudden stops in this complaint.

2012 chevrolet equinox - 43,600 miles. driving normally along a residential road and all inside electrical begin flashing like a strobelight. vehicle dies soon after. taken to mechanic, analysis done and faulty alternator is the culprit. gm claims vehicle is out of warranty and i have to pay for repair out of pocket. after less than 1.5 years of ownership (and buying brand new), already have to replace a major electrical component.

while driving i slowed down to stop for light , light changed so i accelerated when i step on gas vehicle hesitated and lurched forward with an impact similar to being rear ended at a high rate of speed. on another occasion when accelerating vehicle almost stalled before transmission engaged. on another occasion the vehicle was at a dead stop and when i stepped on gas peddle vehicle did not move immediately . this has been an intermittent problem going on for over 2 years and 30000 miles. every time i took it in for maintenance i would complain about problem to no help from dealer they could not duplicate. i contacted gm about problem they sent me to selling dealer who kept it for one and a half days and could not duplicate .the service manager told me his wife had the same problem and they are trading there vehicle in on the same vehicle with a 6 cylinder. the service writer who wrote up my vehicle has the same problem in a different model but he just lives with it. we feel this vehicle has become very unsafe and we do not know how to get this resolved. i have contacted gm again and they had not responded. we have found several other people experiencing the same problem on several websites including chevy forum .

the 2012 chevy equinox stall constantly below 30 mph. it stalls at least 2 to 3 times trying to back out of garage to move it 10 feet. the idle startes off smooth but within 10 seconds the equinox starts idling rough and jerking, then it stalls. when stopped at stop light the equinox jerks back and forth, when i give it gas to go, the equinox jerks foward and usually dies on me. it burns a large amout of gas and oil, i have to refill the oil up at least once a week.i have changed the oil myself and found the oil is saturated with metal filings. the check engine light comes on and off repeatedly. i have already replaced the battery twice because of a dead cell. i have replaced the front right tire due to a blow-out at 24,000 miles and dealership refused to replace it, saying i hit something and it could not have blown out. the entire navigation system in out and the lights flicker in the cup holders. the tire pressure sensors when out for at least 5 days and it started working again with no repair of the system. this is not a safe vehicle to drive considering, i don't know when it is going to stall drining down the highway. a recall is mandatory for full replacement!!!!

i went to slow down my vehicle to exit off of freeway. upon touching the brake, the care accelerated and stcu until i hit the brake. i phoned gm via onstar as this scared me. i thought it was a fluke however i still wanted it documented. this past week, july 28th 2014, i once again was traveling and went to slow down to take off cruise control and my rpm's jumped and stuck at 6-7. i could feel and hear them engine as the acceleration appeared to be stuck (again) this is very concerning happening twice now, both of which i believe have something to do with the cruse control as both incidents i had cruise control set and braking to slow down. not hard brakes, gentle. last summer of 2013, i had a rear right tire blow out going over 70 miles an hour on the highway. i did not know until now there was a recall. i phoned (pushed button) onstar after the incident as a tow truck had to come and take to the dealership. i had to replace all 4 tires on my than year old vehicle approx. 29000 miles on it. i had advised onstar i had no warning and wanted to know why the system did not alert em but no one had an answer. also, when i first purchased my equinox in july 2012, the car had a knock and i reported it. can you please help me. on this last incident last week with the accelerator sticking, i pushed my onstar button advising them what had happened and to please transfer me to gm care so i could let them know, however, after remaining on hold for to long i hung up. no one has followed up with me regarding either incident. thank you, tammy countryman

the passenger seat got wet and the passenger side air bag would not turn off. it took 3 days for the seat to dry out before the air bag would turn off when the seat was unoccupied. the sensor should be water proof if a child were to wet their pants as in this incident.
