chevrolet corvette z06 2008 Complaints

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP

almost every time i fuel the vehicle gas shoots out of the filler neck when the pump stops. the first time , gas was gushing out and down the side of the car onto the ground because the pump did not stop. luckily it did not catch fire. this is on a new 2008 chevrolet corvette z 06 ! it is very critical that i do not try to put in more gas when the pump stops or it shoots out of the filler neck. my 2001 corvette z06 never had this problem. i hope this never results in a fire , i do not want to see my car burn. thank you edward lipman

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL

after researching and reading other incidents, i believe the active handling on my 2008 corvette z06 caused me to crash. researching this, i found the steering wheel positioning sensor malfunctions and locks up one of the front brakes. the car is at the body shop as of now. i plan on looking at this sensor after the holidays. any advice or information would be appreciated.

WHEELS

i was driving my 2008 corvette z06 that has 12500 miles on it. i was merging onto i-94 at little mack when my right rear wheel broke off at the lug nuts. when the wheel broke off the car violently turned to the right and slammed into the concrete retaining wall. there is absolutely no damage to the right rear quarter panel. gm's contention is that the wheel broke off on impact, there was no impact to that part of the vehicle and i have many photos to support what actually happened. because my car has no damage in the area where the wheel came off the problem is obvious. it may not be apparent in other vehicles that have had a similar catastrophic wheel failure due to damage sustained as a result of impact in an accident and gm's willingness to cover it up.

WHEELS

on 3-23-11 while merging onto the expressway, the right rear wheel of my 2008 corvette z-06 broke off at the lug nuts. because i was accelerating at the time, all the power went to the left rear causing my car to turn violently to the right and smash into the concrete retaining wall. the cause of the accident was a failure in the casting of the aluminum wheel. the police report lists cause as equipment failure, wheel broke off vehicle. the cause is obvious when looking at the vehicle, due to the fact the there was no impact into the wall by the rear of the car. gm will not examine the car properly.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

the other day i smelled gas in my garage. the smell is bad until the fuel level drops below 1/2 tank. i took my car to the dealer and they said they cannot find a leak. i mentioned if this is covered under the 80k mile emission warranty and they said it was not. there are many complaints about this issue and the solution is to drop the tanks because the issue may lie in the fuel pump and leaking tanks on the top. i believe this is a serious safety issue regarding leaking fuel tanks and the consumer should not pay for a faulty item being a serious safety issue. i know this was an issue on the c5 corvette and gm replaced those tanks free of charge. the c6 fuel cell is the same as the c5 and it appears like its also faulty as well. please review all c6 corvettes (2005-2013) complaints on this site. this should be a recall or a fix by gm to cover the costs.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

vehicle had 1/4 tank of fuel in the tank before filling on fri.after filling tank to full noticed strong gas smell from rear of vehicle, had to roll windows down to drive, odor was so strong could not park car in garage due to fire hazard, did not see any evidence of fuel leakage on ground, brought car to dealership on mon.they stated not covered under federal emissions warranty, although in california it would have been,(same fuel tank used in all zo6's)escalated it to gm warranty customer service, left car at dealership as its unsafe to use, waiting on word weather they will honor emissions warranty and fix poor gm craftsmanship. btw 42000miles,non tracked,no accidents,100% stock, sits in garage 5 days a week. should be considered for a recall as i am not the only one w/this issue.
