COMMUNICATIONS:BACK UP ALARM

when i put the srx into reverse the back up camera does not come on for 3 to 4 seconds. i am backing blind during that period. cadillac told me that is just the way it is. someday someone is going to run over a child while backing up, because they didn't see the child on the screen. this is a glaring safety defect.

EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM)

purchased vehicle with navigation option. upon first use, voice directions were terribly wrong. dealer ordered new navigation disk from cadillac - but problem remained. issue has not been resolved after three months. cadillac regional manager said problem will not be fixed until 2014 model year. high potential exists for fatal accident if driver is directed to make a wrong turn into one-way street. handheld gps units are very accurate; gm engineers must be directed to make a fix asap. dealer tested other 2012 cadillac srx's and same problem occurs. this is a potential disaster in the making. *tt

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

tl* the contact owns a 2012 cadillac srx. the contact stated when she exited the vehicle, she locked the doors with the rke and went inside the house. approximately 20-30 minutes later she walked back outside to find her vehicle in her neighbor's yard across the street facing the other direction. it was then discovered, the vehicle was still in drive and was locked. the contact also stated the power steering lock, which also caused the accident. the rke allowed the contact to get out of the vehicle and lock it, without being in park.

when i was loading items into the rear of my car, the close button was accidently hit, the hatch came down and hit me in the head and my arm. it did not stop and reverse, i had to get out of the way. i tried it again, and when i put my arm out to stop the hatch to see if it would reverse, it put so much pressure on my arms that they became black and blue. i am concerned that what if this was a child, if it needs that much pressure to stop and reverse, what would happen to a child. i had the car looked at where i bought it and they said that, that is how much pressure is needed to stop., i had a 2010 srx, and it did not need that much pressure to stop. as soon as the hatch hit something, it stopped and reserved back up. i am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and can the hatch be adjusted. *tt

SERVICE BRAKES

severe grinding or scrapping noise from front passenger side wheel area when turning at low speeds. problem is only present during cold weather. seems to diminish as vehicle is used but sometimes remains for long periods. can be heard by bystanders and very well inside vehicle. have had no luck with dealer .first few times said could not hear then next time said unsure of cause.

i opened the rear lift gate from inside the car . i had just parked curbside at my 13 year old daughter's school , as i do each school day morning to drop her off . as she leaned in the back cargo space to pull out her back pack and lunch box the cargodoor started to close on its own on my daughter . neither of us had pressed the button . i was unaware at first as i was in the front seat facing forward , i heard her scream and was watching in horror as she was being crushed by the door between the door and her bag and the cargo compartment . i did not understand why the door did not treverseand was unsure in that split second if i pressed the button would it reverse the door or crush her further . i also was unaware if i had enough time to jump out of the car, run to the back . to try to pull the door up . this came close to being a catastrophe. if my daughter was smaller or younger or in a different position . she is bruised and i am really concerned a car is on themarket like this . i saw other complaints like mine on line today after this happened . the dealership is being less than helpful not to mention .my car has locked me out twice with the keyless entry after the car was unlocked . it relocked . the navigation and bluetooth toss me regularly . i think this car has a wiring issue on top of the lace of safety with the back gate.

the hatchback began closing on my husband while he was loading the trunk. it didn't stop until i pushed the button. he could have been crushed if i wasn't there. i can't imagine what would have happened if a child was there. very dangerous!

2012 cadillac srx. consumer writes in regards to air bags not deploying in an accident. *smd the consumer stated as his wife was driving, the vehicle was struck from the side, causing it to hit the concrete jersey wall and guard rail numerous times, from side to side.

2012 cadillac srx. consumer writes in regards to steering problems and lug nuts failure. *smd the consumer stated his wife complained about a noise coming from the right front wheel and felt the car was not performing correctly. the consumer stated he took the lug cover off and three lug nuts fell to the ground and the 4th lug nut was loose to the point that he was able to unscrew it by hand. the two lug nuts that held the wheel were on, but not snug. he then checked all the lug nuts on the other wheels and found most of them loose and none were tight. he then used his four-way lug wrench to secure all the wheel. gm's solution was to simply rotate the tires and basically use the proper torque to apply the lug nuts.

the vehicle suddenly accelerated while slowing the vehicle while still in drive and while pulling the vehicle into a curb parking. the acceleration could not be stopped using brakes and struck a parked car in front of the cadillac.

i was pulling in to a parking space at a local mall. as i turned my wheel my vehicle took off and i lost all control. the brakes were applied and the car wouldn't stop. within a few seconds my vehicle hit 3 other parked vehicles pushing one in to another. i believe i had then experienced sudden acceleration. three vehicles were towed away including mine. no tickets were issued.

ENGINE

the srx 3.6 liter detonates continuously when 87 or 89 octane is used and the outside air temp. is 70 degrees or above. the current program in the 2012, 2013 and current srx crossovers can not retard the timing enough when the knock sensors sense the pinging. gm has replaced engines to resolve this issue but has found that it is a software issue and is working on writing a new program for all srx crossovers, they claim a software update in a year. driving a continuously detonating engine will permanently damage the engine and can cause an unsafe vehicle to the consumer.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

late in the first year after we purchased the car we noticed from the back how low the fuel tank extended toward the ground. we didn't think much of this until this year we noticed a dent on the tank. i checked the new srxs at the dealer and found the newer models had much more ground clearance on the tank. we thought there must have been some problems and they had changed the tank clearance to correct this. i have not yet contacted the dealer to see if a correction can be made on my car. this appears to be a possible cause for a fire with the tank if you backed over a high curb with the tank extending past the back wheels toward the rear bumper.

2012 cadillac srx. consumer writes in regards to ignition switch malfunction. *smd the consumer stated there was no fail safe, chime or timed shutoff once he left the vehicle. on several occasions, the consumer returned to his vehicle to find the vehicle running and the garage full of fumes. the steering wheel and windshield blocked the view of the engine start/stop button. which has resulted in the consumer leaving the engine running on numerous occasions. the consumer stated the start button should be moved to the left or right or up or down , in order to be visible from the driver's seat. *jb

i fell asleep while driving, jumped a levee, ran through a fence, and wrecked in a grassy watery area. my engine was smashed, the motor mount broke, and my tires are pushed back. my air bags did not deploy. my face hit the steering wheel and my nose is broken. i would like to find out if there is any recalls on this car.

we started the car, and was backing up and there was a grinding in the steering wheel when turning it right and left. we took it to the dealer and the power steering fluid was leaking out of the power steering pump into the steering. they cleaned it all out, and added a thicker fluid on 3/ 25/2014, we started the car it happened again we took it directly to dealer and they agreed something wasn't right. they put in a new pump. we picked it up had it two days and it happened again. we took it back,and was told the dealer called gm and they couldn't do anything else because they didn't have the parts. we were told it wasn't dangerous, but i'm thinking if the power steering fail working while driving, we could crash.

pushed button to raise the rear hatch and hatch raised to the upper limit then quickly swung down , up to the full open position , swung down and up again wildly on its own and finally slamming closed with-enough force that it was unstoppable.....would have crushed a pet or child. there was no obstruction safety stop whatsoever.

loss of power. two months after we had purchased this new srx, my wife and i were driving south on interstate 77 in north carolina at 65 mph when suddenly the car had no power. i was in the left of two lanes and was able to steer and brake into the median which was divided by a concrete barrier from the north bound traffic. i put the car in park, then pushed harder and harder on the accelerator, but there was no sound, no power. gm offered to tow us to the nearest dealer, but no one was open because it was sunday. so we decided to try to restart the car. i pushed the brake and ignition and it started. i slowly moved onto the highway and accelerated. the car worked. after arriving at my destination, i took it to a cadillac dealer who was unable to find any codes stored and could not duplicate the problem. then early in 2014, the same thing happened, this time as i came to a stop--no power, car restarted, no codes, could not duplicate. both dealers said that gm had not sent them bulletins about this problem.

i was attempting to gain speed when all of a sudden my vehicle lost acceleration and the engine rpms increased as if my vehicle was accelerating. i took it to the dealer and my transfer case module needs to be replaced.
